Great game!

My mom lives in Philadelphia, my bro lives in Cambridge, and I'm in the Bay Area. All of us are baseball fanatics.

I follow the Phillies, Red Sox, Giants, and A's. This All-Star game introduced me to some new, great players from both leagues. I wish the National League had won, but it was a terrific game, probably the best All-Star game I've seen!

Before 2004, Boston sports fans had this delusional notion that there was a rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees. They were too provincial to realize that it was strictly a one way perception, since Yankees fans had no reason to care. It was about as genuine a rivalry as between a hammer and a nail, since the few times the Red Sox actually managed to challenge the Yankees for the pennant, they always managed to find a way to fall short. But the way Yankees fans took the bait with this bullshit, nothing story about Papelbon dissing Mariano Rivera seems to indicate that there really is a rivalry now, and it's the Yankees fans who seem frustrated and jealous and need to throw temper tantrums over nothing for a change.

What did Uggla and Hart do out of curiosity?

I went to bed after the 9th, and I was almsot sure Id wake up to a picture of Carlos Marmol watching a ball sail into the stands on MLB.com.

I blame Clint Hurdle. Brian Wilson was doing just fine in the 8th, but he had to get Wagner in ASAP, probably just because he wanted to give him some playing time and use Lidge for the 9th, and it backfired.

I guess on the plus side, for the first time since I can remember, every player got used.
