They said Mark Prior would re-write record books if he could stay healthy.
How'd that work out for him? |

One Philadelphia cheesesteak- $8
One ticket in left field at CBP- $40 Being in attendance to watch King Johan the Great completely humiliate the hometown team's lineup in front of their dejected fans while the Mets defeated the Phillies ace (again)- PRICELESS smokeitgood wrote:

To my point and actually taking twisted's side on this, it's bullshit to say that "health" is keeping someone from being a premium, premium
guy. Health is what it's all about, case in point Mark Prior and Kerry Wood. Experts were predicting they'd win multiple Cy Young awards, but they
didn't.
Cole Hamels may be a good pitcher, but if you're sitting on the DL, you might as well be a meatball throwing minor leaguer. |

So twisted, if you had to choose between the two to start a team who would it be?

Powers is making way too much sense. Someone must have hacked into his account.

I can dig that. It's not like Hamels has the "oft injured" tag so i'm not sure what that scout was getting at. He's certainly nowhere
near Prior's level but hell, who is? Besides Kerry Wood i guess.
Hamels missed some starts last year but it's the only time he's been injured that i can remember. |

People down here sat around for years waiting for Rocco Baldelli to blow up, and he just couldn't. He'd play like a hoffer for a while, then go right back to the DL. It's not for want of trying, either - he's just genetically inferior in certain ways. He's still on the payroll, but nobody even says his name anymore. |

Hamels was plagued by injuries in the minor leagues. He had a DL stint in each of his first two seasons in the majors so he has some durability issues.

Can I just admit that I nearly shit a brick after the Royals pulled to within 11-8 and then got men on 2nd and 3rd in the 9th? All I could think about was the
rash of shit I'd take in this thread. Suppose that'll learn me to call a game after 6 innings. :lol
I once read that Don Cooper taught his catchers to set up 2-4 inches off the plate. When the Atlanta pitchers would hit the mitt, many umpires would call it a strike, effectively widening the strike zone. Before long, Atlanta pitchers developed a reputation for being pinpoint control artists and pretty much any time they'd hit the mitt it would be called a strike within that additional few inches they'd been stealing. |

Why is star rider so obsessed with the Mets who are playing .500 ball in May?

Cause he has an inferiority complex? Makes sense since his teams have beaten him down mentally for decades now

So he's surpassed the Mets team batting average then?

When Delgado is hitting 22 points higher than you, that's pretty pathetic.
Did you know the almighty Phillies offense is only hitting 3 points higher as a team than the Mets? Just thought I'd mention it. |

They've also hit like 68 homers and have scored 3rd most in the league even though they have pretty much never gotten a hit with a runner on 2nd or 3rd
base.

Gagne has rotator cuff tendinitis
Assistant general manager Gord Ash just told me closer Eric Gagne was diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis and received a cortisone injection to help speed the recovery process. Gagne will rejoin the team tomorrow in Washington and will not be allowed to throw until Sunday at the earliest, but that is only if he feels 100%. If not, the Brewers will decide if they can afford to keep him out of action for a few more days. |
