One farmer. A bunch of livestock. Is this any way to find true love? The CW certainly hopes so. The network will unveil its new hog-eat-hog reality show, Farmer Wants a Wife, on Wednesday, April 30, at 9 p.m., after America's Next Top Model. The show, which has been a hit in several European countries, will chronicle the romantic journey of a Missouri farmer who seeks that special someone to hoe around with. His fish-out-of-water female suitors - who hail from the big city - must compete in barn-based challenges like rounding up chickens. My next door neighbor has hundreds of head of black angus cattle, and that's his HOBBY. They just raise them for showing and for fun. So farmer does not equal poor in today's society. Do you know what a bushel of corn sells for in the day of ethanol production? YIKES! (And how many bushels they produce per acre and how many acres even an average sized farm is? -- it ain't grandma and a cow anymore.)

Costs are up too, especially fertilizer & diesel. From the site, it looks like the farm is a joke. A few chickens and goats - more like a petting zoo than a serious farm. Which makes sense - the bimbos they have going on the show would be more likely to lose an arm in a combine than be useful on a tractor.

Like some sort of horrific cross between The Simple Life and The Bachelor, with every annoyingly overdone reality show stereotype you can think of thrown in. It's on the CW? I'm not surprised. Just another example of how their programming (outside of Gossip Girl) sucks shit.
