This limited list will also help those who have no real talent, like Syesha. She can "sass" and screech her way through something like Please Mr.
Postman (if that's allowed) and they'll tell her she made it her own.

Brooke is gonna kick ass tomorrow with an acoustic (or made into acoustic) song like In My Life. Archuleta will do a boring version of Yesterday (like
there's any OTHER kind at this point) and Simon will tell him he sounds "too old." Amanda will do a so-so version of a rocker and get herself
voted off even though the judges inexplicably praise her and she somehow survived week two of the semis doing a lot worse. Kristy will do a countryish song and
begin her permanant stay in the bottom 3.

I like Brooke but if you heard her on the radio you'd switch the station. She stands out on Idol. In the real world, there are hundreds (thousands) like
her. And she's my favorite girl.

If it's just #1 hits, then they're trying to avoid what happened with Queen, when Daughtry picked a completely unknown song.

That 1962 - 1966 compilation (originally the red double album, 67 - 70 was blue) seems to make the most sense since they'd just have to secure the rights
to a double album and not the entire catalogue as Ryan was chirping about.
The Idol franchize is just plain shitting money so why do they have to be so damned cheap when it comes to securing performance rights? |

Yes, it's been overdone...but I LOVE LOVE Yesterday. And I swear to gawd if David A sings it,,,I'm gonna fly out to Hollywood and punch him in the
balls.

Aloha Kitty or Screamesha could try to do Eleanor Rigby the way Aretha did it, church it up with a nice soulful groove. They might be able to pull it off.

While short, that really isn't a bad song list. Almost every one of them can be sung by at least one Top12 finalist and several such as "I Feel
Fine" can be adapted to several styles.
But "Norwegian Wood" belongs to Jason. |

IdolSchmydol wrote:But still... Alexandrea should have "suck it up" and act "professional" on stage. Instead she "gave up". Why would the viewers vote for someone who looks defeated or gave up on a song? I don't like Nigel's idea to linit the number of song choices but on CBS' "Rockstar" show- the contestants were given a small list of songs each week- much less songs than on Idol. The performances turned out fine (probably because the Rockstar contestants had more experience performing and doing their own thing). And the song choices were good too. |

I'll probably get blasted for saying this but I never understand why people cream themselves over the Beatles in the first place so the idea of hearing 12
of these songs in one night bugs the shit out of me already...but to know they were limited to so few is ridculous.... Ryan and Co made it seem like the ENTIRE
catalog would be made available but of course that's just more manipulation and bullshit.
thanks for the video of Kat...it made me like her even more when she came back to Randy that she didn't pick the song..... I think now that the performances will be live it'll be more likely that someone like Jacuzi will snap back if a comment is made about his song choice, esp if he doesn't get his pick. The semi's were taped and therefore less likely that any snide comment would stay in after editing happened. |

I thought Michael Jackson owns the songs from then, and McCartney Yoko own the ones after that.
