I'll partially forgive AI if the reason they only get to do 1962-1966 this week is because 1967-1970 is for the Top 11. The catalogue really does deserve two weeks.

How is this at all manipulation? Maybe this is all they were able to negotiate getting. What other reason would they have to only have 25 from which to pick? This conspiracy theory doesn't work for me.

The fact that even in previous weeks this season, they've only had a couple dozen choices to sing.

I hope they don't do two Beatles weeks, I think it's enough of a disadvantage for the females as it is (then again, so was Diana Ross in last year's Top 12 for the men), and wasn't one of the rumored themes to be the Top 100 from iTunes?

I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of the Beatles songs on the list of 25 are cover songs that The Beatles recorded on their first couple of albums like Please Mr. Postman (originally by The Marvelettes) or Chains (originally by The Cookies).

Sounds like S6 contestants like Blake, Chris Sligh and even Melinda cost TPTB too much money on paying out rights fees for their song selections last year and they're going to the other extreme.

I don't think so. I think the unnecessary celebrity appearances last season (Gwen Stefani, J-Lo, and those that participated in the shitfest that was Idol Gives Back) cost them a lot of $$$.

In a way, I'm relieved, because it'll mean less butchering of the 'better' songs of the later period. I can take Archie's inevitable cover of "Yesterday" because it will be, like, the 50 jillionth cover of that song. I couldn't take She-Hag Amanda ruining "Oh Darling" or "Hey Bulldog" forever.

I could see three of them (max) doing a good job. The rest are just bores with no artistry so good that they only have 25 songs.
Let Syesha murder one of the earlier songs.
