If the contestants are limited to pick Beatles' songs from '62-'66 only, that's going to blow, because I think most of their best stuff came from '67-'70.

Don't tell me they're going to do this with the themes all season: giving the contestants limited options, requiring them to pick three songs, and
having the producers pick for them. And the three stooges have the nerve to bitch about song choice. Maybe they ought to air their grievances with the
producers.

Not only are they limited to just 25 songs, Nigel requires each contestant to choose 3 songs in advance and the producers will choose the one that fits them. Yes, Garrett let the cat out of the bag, in case anyone actually thinks they get multitudes of songs to choose from, like the judges allude to in their comments. This would explain why poor Alexandrea chose such a ridiculous song (I don't think someone her age had ever even heard of that moldy old "Chicago" song, "If You Leave Me Now"), and she made the comment when she finished singing the song that "at least it's over." She was so demoralized. She also made a comment about being the underdog in the competition. That's why. She didn't get much of a choice (maybe didn't get ANY choice). TPTB = A*holes |

So maybe instead of giving the Idol Gives Back precedes to starving children they should pay off whoever's holding out the good songs. Didn't they say
they were taking viewer calls soon.....? hehe

What's ironic is that the judges are dwelling on song selection even more than before, it seems. How long before someone snaps and says, "I sang what
they told me to sing!!1!11!"
Nigel is clueless. "You can't just pick songs you like." Yes, God forbid a contestant dare express themselves and give insight to who they are artistically. I've always known this show was a joke, but it's getting old on top of that. |

Someone in the semis should have bitched about this after their elimination, or even after their performance, it might have stirred up voter sympathy.
For example the first week when Garrett didn't get any of his three song choices or Kady who didn't get her first choice for a song the first week. After Simon said it was like night of the living dead she should have said maybe it wouldn't have been if I had to gotten to sing the song I wanted to. Fuck TPTB. |

Unfortunately the average viewer probably won't know WTF they're talking about and will just look at it as them being arrogant.

It's like they WANT this to be the worst season. Why would you give 12 contestants a list of only 25 songs to choose from. That sucks!

I wouldn't be shocked to hear in the coming weeks for the the Top 11 or 10 or whatever they got 11 songs to choose from.
Stupid Nigel and company. |

With both Danny and Kady gone all the entertainment value has pretty much been sucked out of the show. Even with shitty performances to endure for 2 hours I at
least had Danny's song choice and sassy commentary to look forward to and Kady's pre-performance video packages.

They want this season to be taken seriously, after last season's Sanjaya fiasco. But they went too far in the opposite direction.

Agreed. By trying to make AI more legit or whatever is they're trying to do they've made it even sketchier.

If what people are saying about the 25 songs and the 1962-66 only timeline are correct, I agree with the conclusion. Fuck Nigel. I wanted to see Amanda blow
people away with Helter Skelter, like Storm and Patrice did on Rock Star: Supernova (which maybe they are afraid of being unfavorably compared to?). Or maybe
they're afraid of anybody singing "psychedelic" songs and thus encouraging drug use, or some shit like that?? In which case the singers should
look hard for subversive songs from Revolver and Rubber Soul, which fall under the wire. Day Tripper is about trippin.' Rain (the flip of Paperback Writer)
is obscure, but is a totally drugged out song that falls into the time frame. And Please Please Me is all about asking for a blow job. Go for it gang!!
