Everybody is interpreting someone's arrangement of someone else's song! Nobody on idol has ever done a completely original take on a song. (ok, maybe blake last season...maybe) usually they get reamed for trying something different. Cook (or TPTB) found an arrangement that worked for him and did it. No different than anyone else tonight or any night. You have to give it up to him tonight. Tonight he was in a different universe to everyone else. He was great on a night everybody else wasn't. That being said he needs to COMB HIS DAMN HAIR!!! I still hate him, but he was the best tonight by a mile.

But he is smart to find versions of songs that go with the theme and suit him well. It's just irritating that Randy keeps calling him original when David is only doing what everyone else is, covering songs.
