I understand Incubus is still out there trying, but have they really been relevant to the mainstream music scene in oh, about 8 years? Brandon Boyd has great voaches, but range...not so much. The average listener doesn't give a fuck about range anyway. It's not like Cookie's going to release a warm-up technique CD filled with scales and arpeggios. Pro voach coaches (read: failed singers) tend to ruin the soul behind the voice with all the technique. Sure, the knowledge is good so you don't end up seriously damaging the voach chords, but isn't really all that necessary if you're genre is rock/alternative. Cracks and flaws are par for the course and tend to be preferred over a technical, robotic, high school chorus member voach.

Cook will put out an okay album which will get good radio play. However, his sales will underperform expectations (more than Jordin but nowhere near Daughtry) and he will have a hell of a time maintaining a rock career because of AI fan based issues. I predict the first single will be a pop rock ballad. I've grown to like Cook the man (seems very decent) and you don't have to bother explaining why I'm wrong/misguided/hater. Let's avoid the drama and check back here January/Feb. 2009 and see how things are doing. This isn't a Cook/Archie thing either as Archie will have his own problems post Idol moving units.
