Family dynamics can be a tricky thing and it's not fair to make blanketed assumptions. There is a good chance that devil child's outward appearance is
a facade and that the kid is really pretty miserable. Evil stage daddy is probably a domineering fuckhead who beat baby Davy and deprived him of a normal
childhood, by making him sing the talent show circuit... motivated by hopes of fame and fortune. Call it the Joseph Jackson school of vicarious parenting.

Are you serious? What a pansy-ass bitch. You're right, it's probably exaggerated to the core in Archtard's delusional mind. Reality:

I totally buy that Daddy Archuleta is a raging douche bag stage parent. I just think it's retarded that people feel sorry for David like he's some kind
of little helpless sheep. He's not little kid anymore, maybe if his dad acted like that when he was on Star Search I would have had some sympathy. However
I have no sympathy for a kid who is going to turn 18 later this year.
On a sidenote, his dad is really dumb if he's acting like this when David is going to turn 18 later this year. As soon as he hits 18 Daddy is entitled to fuck all and won't get shit if Archuleta does end up with a decent career after this if he continues treating him in this manner. If you're going to be a stage parent to a kid who's almost legal you better do it right and obviously Archuleta's dad sucks at it. |

As cruel as it sounds, I just don't buy it. He always has some excuse or response to something, knows what to say, and when to say it. If anything, his
stage parents told him to flop the lyrics on purpose so he could reveal this fake "sob story" for votes.

I'm sure it's mostly-true since it's very obvious that he has stage parents. Like I said though, he's fucking 17 years old, not 7. What's his dad going to do if he dares tell him off? Hit him on the American Idol set, I fucking doubt it.He seems very repressed, and after all the years his father has run his career, he probably can't just summon up the nerve to tell his father off. I don't know anything about any of these people and I don't care all that much but some of these stage parents can be hell for their kids, I feel sorry for any kids who have to deal with them. It's probably not as easy as hitting the road when someone is 18, not if the parent has a strong emotional hold. I know a lot of people thought he would come up with excuses once the judges criticized him, but from what I remember, he hasn't said much of anything (while other contestants dismiss the judges, or Ryan tries to excuse a performance because of illness, etc.) |

It shows how bland and uninteresting the other contestants are this season, that the only person anyone is talking about is David Archuleta.

I'm not saying I necessarily have all this sympathy for David, but I can see where it could be hard to stand up for yourself. If his dad really is that
bad, it's probably something that has been going on for a long time (the kid's been performing for forever). And, if it happened in front of other
contestants, it's probably really fucking embarrassing. As much as the other contestants don't seem bitter (from interviews and such), I'd be
pissed that he's practically been ordained the winner. Also, isn't he the youngest one there now? The last thing I'd want to do is fight with my
dad in front of all these people.

David doesn't need to fight with this father. He turns 18 in December, right around the time he will start raking in the big bucks. If Archuleta Sr.
wants a piece of the pie, he better get his shit together.
Sometimes parents and kids fight. Just like husbands and wives fight. And athletes and teammates and coaches. In high pressure situations, where adrenaline and nerves are running high, these things happen. The whole incident was probably forgotten an hour later. |

Update: LYNN and ALEX, writers of entertainment blog www.laragmag.com tell ET that this may not be the
first time Jeff has lost it -- they tell us that he was banned from the set of "Star Search" when a 12-year-old David competed on the program. The
writers explain that there were rumors that Jeff had allegedly harassed a girl named TIFFANY who was David's competition in the contest.

If I had a whiny girly son like David, i'd be angry with the world too.

He needs to be one of those stage parents like Patrick's dad from season 2. Rather than yelling at your kid, storm out on stage and yell at the judges.
Much more entertaining for us viewers.

Sympathy votes are always good, not that David needs them.

the end control over the fights. Then I know other kids who have been emotionally manipulated and abused and cannot stand on their own two feet.

You gotta admit - growing up being a child contestant on Star Search does not constitute a normal childhood in anyone's book.

Most celebrities do not lead "normal" lives. The Spears and Lohan families are proof of this.

I bet his dad entered him in child beauty pageants. It explains alot.

When I was a teen and first learning about/getting involved in the music business, I saw some pretty vicious exhibitions of stage parenting. I can honestly say
most parent weren't the "Thats OK, you tried your best, you'll do better next time," type.
They were more like, "So help me, if you miss that note/dance step one more time, you're gonna be grounded until you get it right!" or "What a waste of lessons... why do I even bother?" Yes, I even witnessed physical violence on a few occasions. It's sad. Even if you don't feel sorry for demon child, the whole kiddie pageant/talent show circuit is disgusting and many of the parents behave more like children than their kids do. |

Yet another point in favour of changing the age limit for Idol to 18-30. I really don't think 16 and 17 year olds should be on the show.
