I can understand how it happens that Jason is picked later, it just creates, I think, an interesting situation for him to be standing on the mat with the misfits. Does he come into his new tribe with a new attitude? Does Chet summon up enough energy for some sotto voce pageant trash talk while they're standing there? Or maybe Kathy takes the opportunity to assure him that getting picked last isn't all that bad, he'll live through it.

Ozzy's team doesn't much need to pick an Ozzy clone, since they have Ozzy. Erik's strength is running, so that would add a skill that they don't have yet. Plus Joel may well mention that Erik gets along with people and Jason doesn't.

Natalie's team, I suppose, wants Alexis as the strongest woman, especially since there tend to be gender-segregated challenges. Plus she is friends with Natalie and James probably thinks she is cute.

(Btw, I don't understand the contact issue. We've seen people do water challenges before wearing their glasses.)
