S16 HalfASS Ep 5 - Challenge (Land) |
Lead | |

There is possibly one challenge since there is a switch, we'll see.... I don't squint well enough for the Challenge Board.

At least it doesn't seem that they are trying to hide buffs.

My squinting tells me:
Day12 - 5 Switch Day 12 - 5 RC 'Build it up, Break it down' Day14 - 5 IC 'Cat & Mouse' Day 14 - 5 TCThe structures in this challenge look like those in 'Cat & Mouse'

Are Chet and Joel rearranging the structure? They look a little more intentional than hurried.
Is this the same challenge? This sorta looks like building something up, breaking something down. I wonder if this is another example, where they recycled the tripods...
Either way, sort of a lot of Chet in that preview, including people cheering for him. Does he reveal some unexpected talent for whatever it is that they are doing? Or just his pre-boot visibility spike? ETA It doesn't seem all that physical. Could you lose a leg doing this? |

Any deep, open wound in a dirty tropical environment can get infected which 'could'
lead to a loss of limb, but if that gouge went deep into Jonathan's knee joint then the danger could be much more immediate.

In that image, presumably post 'Cat & Mouse', New Airie members Alexis, Eliza, Natalie and Jonathan are all wearing the same clothes they were wearing when JP says "Drop your buffs", so the switch probably occurs just before this challenge.According to the white board, the switch occurs just before the RC of "Build it up, break it down". It definitely wouldn't be post Cat and Mouse, in that case. Unless I'm just misunderstanding! |

Good point . . The white board shows they don't even rehearse 'Cat and Mouse' until the day after the 'Switch', so that image must be from
another land based, but post switch RC.
It also means Jonathan's leg has more time to grow an infection this episode and with tribes even at eight each he can not sit out the IC two days later.

Jonathan v. Chet | ||
|
It's Chet pre-boot visibilty spike. Which could occur this episode. He and Joel end up on the same team! Or our clown prince Jonathan could go...to the
hospital... ____________________________________________________________________________ That's a V. dangerous infection to have in a tropical climate....

What makes you think Jonathan gets hurt during a challenge?
|

TV Guide blurb:
The fans and favorites tribes are mixed up. At the reward challenge, several players are hurt and an injury threatens to take one castaway out of the game. |

I don't know if we should really be reading into TV Guide blurbs because I'm assuming they get spoonfed that, but it says 'AND an injury', when
it could have said 'one of which threatens' or something similar.
Also, SPhoenix has posted this image, which shows that Jonathan did get injured in his knee at some point during episode 4:
The weird thing is, it looks like he injures two different knees looking at those pics. So maybe he got hurt randomly in ep 4 and then gets hurt again? |

smoke is it possible CBS revered one of those shots? The injury appears to be in the exact same spot on the opposite leg.

Is this potentially from the other challenge?

Probably... "Build it Up, Tear it Down" is some sort of carnival-style throwing game?
The one we are calling "land" involves some members of the team being roped together and running through a rangled obstacle course, while other members of the team cheer, is that what we have so far? "Cat and Mouse" sorta suggests there is chasing? |

birdlady wrote: No way. "Build it Up, Tear it down" is from palau "Build it up, break it down". That was the IC that proved Ulong sucks. Ulong (Steph, BJ, Ibe and James) lost to Koror's Team B (Ian, Jenn, Katie, Janu - 3 out of 4 are lazy members). Related Topic in s10: http://survivorsucks.yuku.com/topic/2278 I am trying to upload the clip to youtube. |

They are just returning those light and dark rocks to Probst after the switch. :)
Per the good ol' challenge white board there are two land based, post switch challenges this episode. Day 12 RC: 'Blurry Blob Bup, Blurry Blob Brown' (can anybody actually read the name on the challenge board? . . ) appears to involve cross country running in a roped off course. Day 14 IC: 'Cat & Mouse' looks confined to that challenge layout course of teepees and fence rails. Day 10 was a challenge day off (after 'Diver Down' and before 'Crosswalk'). Jonathan's left leg wound looks fresh and non serious to me. Edited 'cause I can't tell left from right

Thanks for digging that up annielhy
If someone is removed from the game it's possible they don't have another challenge. This is visual enough that it should have some footage in a promo. Crap earlier we had footage of a challenge two eps hence. |

Two challenges | ||

Old Malakal at the switch. Jonathan wearing dark tee shirt, Eliza wearing pink shirt
Old Airie. Kathy wearing yellow tee shirt, Alexis in candy stripe shorts

Is Jonathan wearing a different shirt, or did he just roll the sleeves up? The color and collar look the same to me (fwtw). It doesn't look like he or
anyone else is too concerned about the injury...
Similarly, does Kathy have a different top, or did she just take off her yellow shirt to do the challenge in her bathing suit top? |
