It had some of the biggest characters ever, including Tocarra (well, literally in her case), Yaya, and Eva, and probably the best drama out of all ANTM cycles. First, you had Kelle, who was just a mess by herself, but then you add the pressure of the competition and having to deal with a bunch of obnoxious girls, and you get a hilarious breakdown that devolves into long periods spent by Kelle looking in the mirror to analyze her "snout" (still, <3 Kelle). Then there was Ann's disturbing obsession with Eva, which ultimately deteriorated into Ann's very public assertion that she doesn't want to see Eva win because she is selfish (and not paying enough attention to her?). Also hilarious was Browniegate, which broke out into exclamations of "mutilation!" and "disrespect!" The most epic fight, however, was the blow-up that occurred when the dumb bitch Amanda had "lost" her crystals and began accusing Eva of having taken them. What started off as a (not so) innocent bump on Eva's shoulder turned into a fight among half the people in the house! The most laffotastic part of the whole fight (besides Eva correcting Jennipher that she had said "skinny" and not "tall" and then proclaiming she was loved by the judges because she was cute) was Jennipher trying to be a hard-ass and pretend like she could take on Ann. Aside from the constant drama, Cycle 3 also offered some of the best photoshoots and the best overall cast as far as entertainment/modeling potential. The judges were also the best that ANTM has ever had (Nigel wasn't annoying yet and Nole hadn't become repetitive and boring yet). For me, Cycle 3 also probably had the closest thing to a flawless boot order (I actually didn't mind how long Ann lasted, but maybe that is just because I am one of the few people I know who actually liked Ann : /). Although Cycle 3 had many of my most hated Top Model contestants ever (Jennipher, Cassie, and Amanda), it also had some of my favorites (Eva and Kelle). I actually think by having so many people that I could root against, but also a few I could root for is what makes Cycle 3 my favorite ANTM cycle.

Australia's Next Top Model, Cycle 3 One thing helped AusNTM 3 stand above all the rest: Alice. Not only is Alice the most successful English-speaking Top Model winner ever (there is some debate as to whether she or Ksenia from the Russian version is the best), she also provided some of the best entertainment in the entire series. Although some would probably categorize Alice as boring, there was no denying that her constant ownage of all the girls despite not trying that hard was absolutely hilarious. The other girls would throw fits, act crazy, or whatever else they could to get attention, but still were unable to convince the judges that they should stay over Alice. All Alice had to do was show up to the photoshoot and she would be guaranteed to have at least the second best photo. This led many of the girls to become more frustrated as they began to gang up on Alice, saying that she didn't have the drive and determination to win (lol). Alice's shining moment, however, came in the Final 3 episode, where the girls flew to LA for their final photoshoot. While the girls were getting their hair and makeup done to look like prostitutes posing behind glass, Jordan and Steph H. decided it was time to gang up on Alice and started to criticize her in front of Napoleon Perdis (the owner of the makeup company the winner would get a year's contract with). Rather than just take it like one would expect, however, Alice became an extremely cold and cool bitch, confidently going off about how the other girls felt threatened by her and that they were not any competition. This sudden turn into mega-bitch supreme was absolutely unique from any other Top Model outburst, however, in that, rather than scream and yell like a lunatic, Alice was very calm. The haughty look on her face as she explained how stupid her competitor Steph H. was (even calling her out about acting dumb to try to look cute) and how she was still taller than the other girls when they had their heels on was absolute gold. Also during this episode was probably my favorite Top Model meltdown ever, again, courtesy of Alice. The competition having finally gotten to her, Alice began crying in a confessional about needing to avoid the sun because of a terrible sunburn she got the last time she was out in the sun too long (IT'S STILL PEELING!!!11!!!!! sob). <3 Still, Alice was a sweetheart and you couldn't help but root for her over the other girls. If Alice isn't your cup of tea, though, there were plenty of other exciting characters, including Paloma, who I think actually had somehow found a way around the psychological screenings. Seriously, people say that contestants are crazy, but Paloma is CUR-AZY!!!! By episode one, Paloma already had an arch nemesis, Cassandra, and had already had a meltdown about a girl talking in the car. Paloma also was responsible for the rumors about one of the challenges being rigged, which when they were brought to the attention of the judges, Paloma adamantly denied any instigating! . My favorite Paloma moment, however, had to be her meltdown where she cried hysterically about how it was too hard being perfect and good at everything! Really though, without Alice and Paloma, the season was still great. There were some great photoshoots that were fun, but not outrageously tacky or insane. The show also had fair judges (definitely something you can't say for America's Next Top Model). The dynamics between the girls was also great as they reduced the age limit to 16, which allowed for tension between the "over 18s" and the younger girls. The show also had my favorite promo of any Top Model series ever (which is what the YouTube clip above shows). One complaint about the series was the live finale. Before the winner was revealed, each judge, along with all the clients supporting the winner (including the editor of Vogue, the head of the modeling agency, and Napoleon Perdis), was asked who they voted for. Of course, they didn't really think this out, as Alice had already won by a landslide and there was no real reason to even reveal her name at the end. All in all, however, AusNTM 3 was a great cycle that is most definitely a classic.

Posts: 1785 (08/27/08 11:59 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Since I haven't ranked anything in a while, I decided to rank (and by "rank," I mean list from my least favorite to favorite) all the ANTM contestants by cycle (Yay!). Although it is not exactly an original ranking thread (as Jenny du Jour and khnum have already started to make similar lists), hopefully this list won't be completely boring. Don't worry, though: there will be controversial rankings for sure, as many fan favorites are eliminated early. So who will be on top (or more importantly on bottom, given that this is a countdown)? I'll start off with Cycle 1: AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL, CYCLE 1 10. Tessa Carlson (10^th Place) Unlike other first boots of an entire series, Tessa is perhaps one of the most forgettable contestants in ANTM history. All I basically remember about her was that she was Adrianne's smoking buddy. From what else I can remember of her, I didn't like. There was just something about her that annoyed me to no end. She was the first contestant booted for her personality over modeling potential, which was indicative of the direction ANTM was going to take. Although I technically dislike characters further up in this list more, they were at least entertaining, which is more than I can say for her… 9. Giselle Samson (6^th Place) My first impression of Giselle: God is she girl annoying! Giselle was a complete trainwreck and not even an entertaining one. Whether it be her laziness, her unbelievably low self-esteem, or her general incompetence, Giselle had a way of making my next entry seem not that bad. But it wasn't Giselle's constant search for compliments and boosts in self-esteem that made me dislike her so much: it was the way she could take a critique from the judges and make the criticism into a readymade excuse for a poor performance. Thinking she had not done so well, Giselle commented that she worried about seeming "too dancer" (a comment which would come back to haunt her as the judges used it as an excuse for eliminating her). It is not necessarily that her comment was wrong, it was just that she had come up with an excuse before even seeing the end result. Oh well, I'm sure she was nice, but she just needed a little self-confidence. Having rewatched Cycle 1 recently, I really do not hate her so much as find her pathetic. Still, her obnoxiousness can't keep her from staying toward the bottom of this list. 8. Elyse Sewell (3^rd Place) I know I am one of the few, but I cannot stand Elyse. Sure, she was a great, competent model, but I just couldn't get past her personality. To me, she was nothing more than an arrogant, snotty bitch who vastly overestimated her own intelligence. Her rant, although entertaining, was completely absurd and only served to show just how completely cocky and overconfident she was with her own self-worth. Although Elyse was robbed from a modeling standpoint, she couldn't have left soon enough for me based on her personality alone. After watching Cycle 1 a few more times, Elyse has grown on me a little, but not by much. She outranks Giselle and Tessa for the sheer fact that she was a fantastic model, who could also be very entertaining! 7. Nicole Panattoni (8^th Place) The whiney, insecure bitch who didn't want to get rid of her extensions, Nicole was perhaps the first disaster contestant in ANTM history (well, at least the first one to be eliminated). Not only did she get upset at having to get rid of her extensions, but she also declined a reward challenge because she missed her boyfriend. Although she deserved to leave, I would have much rather seen Giselle or Elyse go before her, which is why she ranks higher than them. While I hated Giselle and Nicole, I only found Nicole slightly annoying. 6. Katie Cleary (9^th Place) I never got the Katie hate I have heard expressed by others I have talked to about ANTM (most often, people's responses are 1) "Who?" and 2) "Oh yeah, she was a bitch!"). Yeah, she seemed a little fake and bitchy, but really I think she had the potential to be a great character. Maybe I wouldn't rank her so high if she weren't on Deal or No Deal as Case #11, a small bit of trivia that is always fun to point out while watching the show (even if the person I am watching it with has already heard me say it before!). Not completely annoying, yet not particularly entertaining either, Katie finds a spot around the middle of this list! 5. Kesse Wallace (5^th Place) I've got nothing on Kessie. She was nice and sweet (she must have been, seeing as how everyone was crying when she was eliminated), but somewhat forgettable. She was the original Baby-Tyra, which contributed to the shock of her getting eliminated only slightly past the halfway point, barely missing out on the Top 4 (which she does again in this list!). Still, she was pretty boring, which leaves her behind objectionable, yet more entertaining competitors. 4. Shannon Stewart (2^nd Place) Shannon's place this high up on the list is more by default than her being particularly likeable or entertaining. Sure, she was nice, but not that great of a character. Personality-wise, Shannon is completely forgettable and only memorable for her religious beliefs and her refusal to participate in the nude photoshoot. But although she didn't have a personality to light up a room, Shannon was still charming in her own way. There was something innocent and cute about her that made her less offensive than her religious buddy, Robyn. Because of this, Shannon is often considered Robyn's tagalong, which is not exactly warranted. Still, Shannon simply cannot top Robyn (or Ebony and Adrianne) on a purely entertainment level, which prevents her from making it farther on the list. 3. Ebony Haith (7^th Place) Ebony is a contestant I cannot exactly decide how I feel about her: I find her entertaining and I like her, but I also find her slightly annoying. The drama surrounding her being a lesbian was pretty entertaining, but I think that was more a product of Robynne's reactions than anything done by Ebony. Still, Ebony had her own entertaining moments, including her constant application of moisturizer, her eyerolling at the prayer circle, and her rant where everyone walked away. I also thought her interaction with her girlfriend was sweet and that their relationship was fun to watch. Although I thought she was very nice, however, I could not understand why she was in the competition, as she clearly looked too old and too unmodelesque to be seriously considered a contender (although, Giselle was much worse). Also, although I can't really explain, there was just something about her personality that seemed like it would grate on my nerves if I had to put up with her: like the person you knew was nice and that you like, but you can only take in small doses. 2. Robin Manning (4^th Place) Robin is exactly what every reality TV contestant should strive to be. From her religious tirades, to her bribing of a Parisian man to escort her around his city, to her dramatic elimination, Robin was a constant source of entertainment. As such a controversial character who was utterly blinded by her own delusions, Robin was able to get under the other girls' skins, all while remaining completely unphased by any possible retorts. For Robin, however, being wildly entertaining was not enough to top the list. Although she is certainly one of the most memorable characters to ever appear on ANTM, Robin is not the most likable of characters. Her crazy antics, while entertaining for the viewers, are something that would get old really fast if one had to actually experience it (what can I say: I like conflict as long as I am not around). Also, unlike Robin, my favorite Cycle 1 model was able to be memorable and entertaining without being a complete crazy! 1. Adrianne Curry (1^st Place) Adrianne Curry is far and away my favorite contestant from the first cycle of America's Next Top Model. Sure, she wasn't as controversial or confrontational as Robin, but she was still a very entertaining character. The original tomboy contestant, Adrianne was a fresh variation of a common character. As proven in her confessionals, Adrianne was not only funny and charismatic, but relatively levelheaded and down-to-earth, especially in comparison to her overly dramatic competitors. Although many say that Elyse was robbed and often regard Adrianne's win as nothing more than Tyra's desire for a Cinderella story, I feel that Adrianne was one of the best winners the show has seen. Was she as good as Elyse, modeling-wise? Probably not. Should she have won? I would argue that, given Adrianne's performance and Elyse's stank attitude, Adrianne was more than deserving of winning America's Next Top Model. Since the show, Adrianne has made headlines, not for a successful modeling career, but for being an obnoxious reality TV whore along side her husband, Christopher Knight. However, it is her feud with Tyra over her prizes and Tyra's subsequent refusal to acknowledge her existence are perhaps what Adrianne is most known for among Top Model fanatics. Even after five years, Adrianne manages to still be one of the most memorable characters the show has seen. And to think, she didn't even need to be a zealot or an extreme bitch!

Anna Bradfield (12^th Place) For me, Anna was a complete dud. Although Anna wasn't very modelesque, she could have at least provided some entertainment. Unlike Robin (and even Shannon) in the previous season, Anna's refusal to pose nude wasn't even dramatic or interesting. There was no hollering and there were no outrageous accusations, just a simple refusal and a swift elimination. Also, I'm sure she wasn't expecting the nude shoot to be so early, but did she really expect to be able to get by without participating in the shoot, especially after the last season? All in all, Anna was yet another boring first boot that has been virtually forgotten by most avid viewers. Although she is probably more memorable than Tessa, Anna still manages to be a forgettable character, despite a potentially memorable elimination. 11. Heather Blumberg (10^th Place) To me, Heather is probably one of the most annoying contestants that ANTM has ever had. Now, Heather did not have the traditional annoying tendencies that some of her counterparts had (such as being obnoxiously loud or completely hypocritical). Instead, it was her obsession with Yoanna and her subsequent bitterness over Yoanna not picking her to go on a reward challenge that showed just how much of an unpleasant little twit she was. What did Yoanna owe her anyway? Furthermore, Heather's constant complaining about not getting along with others was tiresome and I was not at all disappointed in seeing her leave. Good riddance! 10. Jenascia Chakos (9^th Place) Jenascia is just one of those characters whose fanbase makes no sense to me. I've heard people describe her as funny and full of personality, saying she gave good confessionals and some even claiming she was a good model, all with which I disagree. For me, Jenascia seemed to have about as much charisma as a brick. Maybe it was just the way she talked, but from what I can remember, many of her confessionals sounded stilted and slow, as if she were either bored or borderline retarded. Also, as far as modeling was concerned, Jenascia was way too short and (in my opinion) didn't have anything special that could make up for such a handicap. The biggest problem I had with Jenascia, however, happened in the very first episode, when she didn't get up for the photoshoot. Sure, it was kind of bitchy of the other girls not to wake her up, but still, it was her responsibility to make sure she was ready. Also, when she finally arrived at the photoshoot, rather than own up to her mistake, she proceeded to blame the others for not getting her up! I know it is a reality TV show cliché, but: bitch, this is a competition! What do you expect? Last time I checked, America's Next Top Model didn't provide free concierge service. Two things I can say in Jenascia's favor, however, are that she at least tried to model (unlike Anna), and she wasn't completely helpless/useless (unlike Heather), which makes her better than the other two who placed below her. 9. Bethany Harrison (11^th Place) Bethany is a girl whose inclusion as a contestant remains one of the biggest WTF casting decisions ever made on the show (although there are certainly many more, such as Wendy, Magdalena, Noelle, and Janet), and certainly the most mind-boggling of the second cycle. Not only did she look short, but she also didn't even have a good body. Her fake breasts looked terrible and her face was almost as bad. Even if one didn't find Bethany to be ugly, her face clearly wasn't that of any model. Now, being ugly isn't the reason why Bethany is rated so low (in fact, one of my favorite contestants, Dominique, is perhaps the most haggard contestants ever). Bethany rates this low because, not only was she boring, but she was a delusional bitch. As the girls were introduced in the first episode, Bethany gave a confessional about Shandi, basically running down all of Shandi's flaws ("her eyes are too close together," "she dorky," etc), as if she had the looks and expertise to back up her claims. Excuse me, but have you ever looked in the mirror? Other than that, Bethany brought nothing to the table. The most exciting part about her was that she had large breasts, which were too big for a fashion model. Oh no! Still, you knew she was just filler, so you had to feel a little bit sorry for her. 8. Shandi Sullivan (3^rd Place) No matter how much you try to get around it, no matter how much you try to excuse her by claiming she was an awkward dork with limited social skills, there is no getting past the fact that Shandi was a slut. Now, being a slut isn't necessarily that bad. But when you have a steady boyfriend, who you even admit is one of the few people who actually supports and cares about you, and you cheat on him on national television, and then further his humiliation by telling him over the phone while being taped, you are not exactly the nicest of people. From the beginning Shandi was modeled to be the next Adrianne Curry: a rough-around-the-edges, ugly ducking who would unexpectedly evolve into a ferocious model capable of working all across the world. As the season progressed, however, it was clear that Shandi would far exceed everyone's expectations by delivering great photo after great photo. But what Shandi had over Adrianne in modeling talent, she didn't have in personality, and unlike Adrianne, Shandi wasn't able to pull off a win. Oh well, at least she got to have sex with some random Italian guy! 7. April Wilkner (4^th Place) In my opinion, April is one of the most overrated contestants in the history of ANTM (although the ultimate honor goes to Kahlen). I've always felt that, although her photos were good, they were nothing that spectacular or amazing. Furthermore, I don't think it was possible for April to be even the slightest bit entertaining. Not even her problems or struggles were interesting. OMG, you are Asian! Who knew? Oh wait, apparently you didn't. Awww, you are too analytical. Awww, now you are being analytical about being analytical! Even if one were to try to extract any sort of entertainment from April's struggles, April's drab confessionals proved such attempts futile. Still, April was nice enough, never doing anything objectionable, which is why she is above the five previously mentioned. 6. Yoanna House (1^st Place) To be honest, I have never been a big fan of Yoanna. Although she was for the most part pleasant, there was something about her that I found really annoying and fake. Most of her confessionals were just her giving some fluff narrative about the day's goings-on, obviously put in by the editors because she was the winner and there wasn't any other footage of her that was remotely interesting. But just because Yoanna wasn't very interesting, doesn't mean she didn't help contribute to the drama in the Top Model house. Her on-again, off-again feud with Camille was in fact one of the central sources of drama during the second cycle. To me, the entire "feud" seemed to be more of a one-sided antagonism toward Camille than a mutual rivalry between the two contestants. Yoanna was really the only one that was constantly calling Camille a bitch, which speaks more to Yoanna's character than Camille's. Like Shandi, Yoanna was groomed to be the next Cinderella-esque contestant, going from being a fatty to a slim model with a fashion-ready body. But also like Shandi, Yoanna lacked the likability to make me care any bit about her transformation. Although I'm not that fond of Yoanna, I must admit: she truly does have one of the best faces ever to be in the competition! 5. Mercedes Scelba-Shorte (2^nd Place) Mercedes is probably the first Cycle 2 contestant to appear on this list that I actually really liked. Cute, perky, and likable, Mercedes had the makings of a true fan-favorite. So it was no surprise that when she revealed she had Lupus, she became the one your average American viewer wanted to see win. Although I don't think she was a good enough model to win, Mercedes took some pretty good photos, which helped give her a portfolio that is a lot better than most being churned out these days on America's Next Top Model. To be honest, there is nothing really bad to say about Mercedes. I simply like the remaining four just a little bit more. 4. Xiomara Frans (8^th Place) Xiomara is a contestant that many probably have forgotten about or just don't care enough about, but to me, she was a great contestant. Extremely nice and down-to-earth, Xiomara was a contestant that I was actually rooting for early on. The fact that she comforted and tried to help Catie get over her fear during the Laundry photoshoot showed just how nice she really was. The problem with Xiomara was that, no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't get it. Xiomara's crazy-eyed, zombified catwalk still cracks me up, while at the same time make me feel bad for her incompetence. All in all, Xiomara was a fun character, who despite not being the most interesting contestant, became one of my favorites from Cycle 2. 3. Catie Anderson (7^th Place) Catie is one of those unpopular characters I just loved. Although others before her (i.e. Nicole) had problems with their new haircuts, Catie was the first to truly have a makeover meltdown, as she cried profusely over getting her hair cut short. Her crying continued when she almost didn't participate in the Laundry photoshoot, where the models were to be suspended in the air over a giant hole of a building. Of course, she ended up doing it, all while delivering a photo that pleased the judges. Some accused Catie of manipulating others by crying on cue, and this, along with some of her other antics, lead her to become one of the most universally disliked ANTM contestants. When I've tried to explain my love for Catie before, two incidents come to my mind, the first being when she didn't even try in the acting challenge because she wasn't really into her acting partner, and the second being when she professed that she wasn't going to try to be anything but a Plain Jane. I found both incidents comical, mostly because you could tell by that point that she just didn't care anymore and she wasn't even going to try. She didn't go gaga over the "hunky" actor or kiss up to the acting coach just so she could stay in a competition that she really didn't want to be a part of. Plus, anyone who is willing to admit she is a Plain Jane so matter-of-factly, without any hint of thinking otherwise or being depressed over it, is a-ok in my book. At least she is not kidding herself! As one can see, I can't adequately explain my love for Catie. I'm sure some reasons why I love Catie are the same reason why I hate others, which makes my rankings less than consistent, but that's okay: my love for Catie defies logic! 2. Sara Racey-Tabrizi (6^th Place) Although not directly related to this list, I think Sara is the hottest contestant to ever be on ANTM. If only she could have harnessed such raw sexiness into a successful career! Anyway, Sara is ranked second because, well, she is my second favorite! By the first episode of Cycle 2, I already saw myself rooting for Sara. After hearing her story about her dad basically disowning her, I decided that she would be the girl I was going to root for (remember, this was in the time when sob-stories still worked on this show). While I thought she was a competent model, as she both looked the part and delivered decent photos every week, it was her charisma that truly made her such a likable character. What I liked about Sara's confessionals was that, despite talking into a camera lens about some of the most mundane, boring things, Sara always seemed so conversational, like she was actually talking to the interviewer rather than just regurgitating the information of the day. By the end of Sara's run, I really grew to appreciate Sara and was sad to see her go, even though she was no longer my favorite contestant. In fact, Sara's elimination is still the only one that actually saddened me (in a way that wasn't because there were only boring people left!). A nice contestant whose dreams were crushed shortly after the halfway point, Sara wins the silver medal in this ranking list. Unfortunately for Sara, her beauty and charm were not good enough to overcome the fierceness of one of my favorite Top Model contestants ever! 1. Camille McDonald (5^th Place) The fierce diva with her very own signature walk, Camille was my favorite of Cycle 2. Now, many will say that Camille was a bitch, but I just don't see it. Sure, she was different than the other girls, and she could be very assertive, but I don't think that makes her a bitch. Throughout the cycle, Camille provided many colorful moments, many of which can be considered among the best of the entire series. A truly original character, Camille was not a simple carbon copy of her predecessor Robin, the larger-than-life antagonist of the previous cycle. Not excessively loud or over-the-top, Camille was still able to get her point across (and in the process, get girls mad at her!) and become one of the most memorable contestants, not only of Cycle 2, but of the entire series. Although she was clearly portrayed as the villain of the cycle, Camille still had many lighthearted moments that kept her from becoming yet another "black bitch." Although many try to replicate her confidence and attitude, none of them can truly replicate Camille's essence as they instead become forgettable examples of the same tired and haggard ANTM stock character. Camille is one of a kind bitches!

Well, just that Elyse was ranked so low, but I guess not everyone can love her. But I totally agree with the low rankings for gross, slutty Shandi and boring Yoanna. And I loves me some crazy crack-eyes Xiomara and Camille. Camille was easily my favourite contestant of the season, and the attempts to make her a villain were always really unconvincing. Also, I think Catie's more a love-to-hate character for me, but I would rank her high just for that clip of her before the laundry shoot where she's crying with the big fake eyelashes hanging off one eye and kicking her legs in mid-air. That was so awesome.

Jennipher Frost (10^th Place) If this ranking thread were to take every contestant into consideration, rather than simply those of the same cycle, Jennipher would probably be the contestant I ranked dead last. Not only was Jennipher as dumb as a box of rocks, but her pathetic attempts at being cute, whether they be talking with a childlike voice and using fake words, or showing the judges her rump during a runway challenge, reeked of someone desperate for attention. Fish-face was at her worst, however, during her infamous fight with Ann and Eva. First of all, it wasn't even Jennipher's fight to begin with, and secondly, Jennipher wasn't even adequately able to defend herself. After accusing Eva of saying "in your skinny bitches' face" (which Eva corrected as really being "tall") and embarrassing herself, Jennipher decided to shove Ann, who at this point hadn't even been arguing with her, out of the way, daring Ann to come up and slug her. In the end, Jennipher just looked like a punk and soon after was eliminated. 13. Amanda Swafford (3^rd Place) Amanda is another contestant that I absolutely cannot stand. One reason why I don't like her is her fight with Eva and Ann. Not only did the dumb bitch falsely accuse Eva of stealing her crystals, items which she had in fact hidden for safe keeping, but she proceeded to pretend like her actions toward Eva, including her bump into Eva's shoulder and her name-calling, were justifiable behavior. Another thing I didn't like was the way she handled Cassie's confession of being bulimic. To me, the whole exposure of Cassie's bulimia by Amanda seemed more like an attempt to disqualify Cassie rather than an attempt to truly help her. Why didn't Amanda go to the producers or cameramen first, rather than the other contestants, if she truly were concerned? Who knows for sure, though? Too overconfident and arrogant in her own abilities, Amanda was constantly under the assumption that she was better than everyone else, and that the fact that she was blind and had a child, made her someone who should get put on a pedestal. After thirteen weeks on my TV screen, Amanda was finally eliminated. And not a moment too soon! 12. Cassie Grisham (8^th Place) Cassie was one of those characters who just seemed to be all-around unpleasant. Maybe it was just because she was always hungry (although, there have been rumors that her eating disorder was only a ploy to get her more screentime), but almost every single confessional from Cassie seemed to be a complaint about something or other. She didn't like New York and she wanted to return home to her boyfriend. She didn't like the fact that she was so big. Blah, blah, blah… Any sort of critique she received, she took as a slight toward her and she proceeded to explain that she didn't care what the judges said. Even over the littlest things, Cassie seemed to be able to be extremely aggravated about, including the time Ann jokingly wrote with a knife on Cassie's brownies, to which Cassie exclaimed had been mutilated! The reason Cassie rates higher than the other two is mostly due to the fact that I am giving her the benefit of the doubt and believing her that she really had an eating disorder. I'm sure if I had one, I would be extremely irritable too. Plus, at least Cassie was willing to admit to her disenchantment with modeling rather than just go along for the ride and then confess to it later. 11. Kristi Grommet (11^th Place) One look at Kristi in her American flag dress at castings and I could already tell I hated her. Being patriotic is fine, but wearing an entire dress made up of the American flag, to both your prom and America's Next Top Model casting, is excessive and annoying. We get it, you love America! The show continued for a couple weeks, with Kristi taking mediocre photos, which were of course overly praised by the judges. Although mostly acting as wallpaper for the other girls' drama, Kristi did have one shining moment in which she questioned why no one would explain Ms. Jay to the models during a runway session. What is there to explain? He's a drag queen! For the most part, however, Kristi didn't do much to impress me, nor did she do anything to make me dislike her even more. Her elimination was predictable, as not even a whole group of makeup artists and photoshoppers could conceal that massive barracuda jaw of hers. In the end, Kristi was a forgettable early boot whose claim to fame lay solely in a terrible costume choice. 10. Julie Titus (12^th Place) As a wannabe model of Indian heritage, Julie was one of the first girls to go on and on about "wanting to represent women of color." At first, it seemed Julie had everything she needed to make it far: a nice background story, judges who were willing to overhype her pictures, and a completely non-dramatic makeover (after all, Tyra only gives dramatic dos to losers, not potential winners). Unfortunately, Julie made a cardinal mistake: suggesting she had any ambitions greater than becoming America's Next Top Model. Now, given that ANTM was already in its third season, Julie should have known better and so it came as no surprise that she was eliminated within the same episode her comments were made. For reasons I can't explain, I didn't really like Julie. Although she had two characters edited to be virtually invisible leave before her, Julie still managed to be as boring and forgettable as them. If it weren't for her sheer stupidity in telling the judges her plans to use her modeling career as a platform for bigger and better things, she might have been able to place above the next two entries. But, what's done is done, and Julie gets tenth place on this list. 9. Magdalena Rivas (14^th Place) Poor Magdalena. Not only were you the first one eliminated, you weren't even given the dignity of being eliminated in front of a proper judging panel! Although I feel bad for the girl, it wasn't at all a surprise when she was eliminated, given that it was a gift she had even made the Top 14 in the first place. I'm sure she didn't expect to be eliminated so early, but she could have at least given us something to remember her by. Instead, Magdalena remains inoffensive enough to not be placed in the bottom, but too boring to make it any further on this list. 8. Leah Darrow (13^th Place) Another completely boring contestant eliminated early, Leah Darrow brought little to the show, except for her freaky mad-eyes, which were good for a laugh or two. Really, she should be tied with Magdalena, but since Leah managed to outlast Magdalena by one round, I think it's only appropriate that she does so on this list too, don't you? 7. Nicole Borud (6^th Place) Nicole is one of those contestants that comes around every once in a while that is given much more credit than she deserves. Despite being one of the most invisible contestants the show has ever seen and only serving up a slightly better than average portfolio, Nicole has been considered by some to be one of the best models the show has had. To these people, Nicole's invisibility was not a result of her just being an extremely boring person, unworthy of any airtime, but Tyra's jealousy and need to justify Nicole's elimination. Yeah, right. Okay. The reason why I am not a fan of Nicole actually has more to do with some of her post-show actions than anything she did on the show. After the show, Nicole started to post over at TWOP, where she spent some time answering questions about the show in an attempt to prove she actually had a personality. Many of these posts, however, just seemed to ooze bitterness, as if she really believed she had been robbed by Tyra & Co. of a much higher position in the game. In some of the posts, she went as far as to suggest that the show was rigged in favor of certain contestants (read: Eva). Now, I'm not saying that I don't think the show is rigged. In fact, I think it is one of the most rigged reality TV shows ever. Nicole's posts, however, just reeked of poor sportsmanship and for that reason, Nicole cannot make it higher than seventh on this list (who likes sore losers?). 6. Tocarra Jones (7^th Place) Now, before I go much further, I must admit that I think Tocarra is the best plus-sized contestant the show has ever had. Constantly entertaining, Tocarra had a personality that could energize a room and make others look past the fact that she wasn't a size zero. With that being said, Tocarra sucked. Like most fatties on ANTM, Tocarra's pictures ranged from mediocre to bad, but I guess there will always be some obvious inflation for the big girl. Sure, Tocarra was nice, but her constant assertion that she loved her body, despite crying over not being able to fit in any clothes, became annoying, as you could tell it was all just an act. She constantly criticized designers for not having big enough clothes for someone like her, claiming she represented a real woman's body type. First of all, even if the average American woman were as big as her, Tocarra's body clearly wasn't representing one that was any healthier than those of emaciated models. I thought the point of models was to present something to aspire to, not make fat women feel better about their own unhealthiness. Also, wouldn't it have been much easier for Tocarra to lose weight than to carry on about clothes not fitting her in an industry obsessed with thinness? Well, apparently not, seeing as how Tocarra has been on Celebrity Fit Club twice already! Still, Tocarra was pleasant enough to outlast all the bitches who have appeared on this list so far, which means Tocarra will round out the Top 6 on this list! 5. Yaya Da Costa (2^nd Place) The girl who continued the role of the black bitch into ANTM's third cycle, Yaya was the snobby, Ivy League-educated model, whose constant need to assert her Africanness and her overall sense of entitlement made her disliked among both her fellow contestants and viewers. The first time I saw Cycle 3, I was one of those viewers who couldn't stand Yaya, but upon rewatching, I was able to appreciate how good of a character and a model she really was. What I noticed when I rewatched Cycle 3 is that, although Yaya was very arrogant, she also had her moments where she could be extremely personable and nice. While Yaya's know-it-all attitude did get very annoying, it was still nice to see someone who wasn't going to let herself get walked all over by the judges. Her scolding of the bitch who said she expected her to pick the kente cloth hat is still hilariously funny and remains one of the best callouts of the entire ANTM series. Although her skin was atrocious, Yaya proved that she could still take great photos that were among the best of the entire group. Her photos were not enough, however, as she became runner-up to one of the most likable and relatable winners the show has ever seen! Although she was very entertaining, Yaya's personality failed to stand out as much as the remaining people on this list. Still, Yaya was a very fun character, clearly deserving of a high position on this list. 4. Norelle Van Herk (5^th Place) When I first saw Norelle, I thought to myself, "Oh God. Here we go again. Another disaster contestant." Tall and gangly, with a grill full of braces, Norelle seemed like just the sort of contestant that was meant as a joke. Also, when Norelle announced that she had only recently been reunited with her mom, I thought she was going to be one of those contestants who constantly needed to remind everyone of her struggles. Already after one episode, however, my assumptions of Norelle were proven wrong. Not only was Norelle able to produce a decent photo, but her fun, perky, and vivacious personality made her one of the most likable characters of the entire cast. Always smiling no matter the situation, Norelle was the rare sweetheart in a season of bitches and whiners, of catfights and hysterics. Unlike with other contestants, Norelle's innocence and cluelessness while in Tokyo actually became points of endearment, as her flops and faux pas were always committed with a bit of humility and charm; naturally, it was disappointing to see her leave. Like with Mercedes, the reason Norelle doesn't rate higher is simply a matter of me liking the three remaining contestants better. 3. Ann Markley (4^th Place) Like Catie, Ann is an unpopular character that I have always (not so) secretly loved. Not afraid to admit to her own competitiveness, Ann was a character you just knew was going to be a lot fun. Ann's constant meltdowns and conflicts with other girls in the house made Ann a great character to watch, as the only thing you could expect from her was that she would probably be in the middle of some sort of drama. Along with Eva, Ann was probably involved in the most feuds and fights in the entire house, as she managed to get under almost every girl's skin at one point or another. Her love-turned-hateful-obsession with Eva, which started off with her crying over not being able to share a room with Eva and culminated in her refusal to hug Eva as she was leaving, remains one of the most sudden (and entertaining) reversals the show has ever seen. Now, Ann's entertainment value isn't the only reason why I like her so much. In fact, I found Ann to be quite charming. Always in Ann's confessionals, there seemed to be an authenticity to what she was saying, as if she weren't speaking to the camera to get attention, but trying to adequately explain how she really felt. Her determination to always do well, which was often met with little success, only served to make me like her more, as her frustration and genuine disappointment at not doing well showed she actually took this show seriously. <3 Unlike others (apparently, people who took the show as seriously as Ann did), I didn't care that she made it so far in the competition, if only for the simple facts that she was modelesque and entertaining! By the end of her run, Ann had won a place in my heart, thereby becoming my third favorite contestant of Cycle 3. 2. Eva Pigford (1^st Place) Arguably the most relatable winner the show has ever had, Eva was assertive, yet charismatic, arrogant, yet personable. Although she was constantly at the center of drama, Eva had a way of turning any situation into something humorous. Her confessionals, whether they be detailing some argument she had just participated in or describing some ordinary event, were chock-full of charm and sassiness, with a healthy serving of humility. Eva's ability to make fun of herself and recognize her own flaws, while at the same time remaining extremely confident, made her someone that was truly likable. Despite being the shortest girl in the competition, Eva was able to get past her handicap by having some of the best photos every week. In fact, as I've said before, her CoverGirl picture remains the best in ANTM's entire run! In the end, she beat out Yaya for the ultimate prize, becoming the second winner I actually liked! Unlike Adrianne, however, Eva was not my absolute favorite, so she ends up in second on this list. 1. Kelle Jacob (9^th Place) For someone eliminated so early, Kelle manages to be a very memorable character, if not for her infamous Lee Jeans photo (considered by some to be the worst photo in Top Model history) or general incompetence in taking a good photo, for the excessive self-scrutiny of her own body, which lead to many tearful breakdowns. Although she was criticized week after week by the judges for her consistently poor photos, Kelle still put in all her effort to become a good model, which was unfortunately not enough to keep her in the competition for long. Kelle was not only criticized for her photos, however, as it became clear some of the girls resented her for acting "too whitewashed." Still, Kelle remained nice and didn't resort to cattiness and bitchiness as a way of dealing with her frustration. Her confession that she might not be as cute as she once thought shows a self-awareness that many contestants, both before and after her, lack. A nice girl whose dream of becoming a model was shattered on national television for everyone to see, Kelle takes the number one spot for my favorite Cycle 3 contestant. Sure, it's no America's Next Top Model title, but in these days, who wants that!
