Only one update for now because of laziness. I do plan to finish this in the next week or so.
#9: Sonic The Hedgehog
So here it is, the game that put the Sega Genesis on the map! So when I was a kid, the rage was all Nintendo, Nintendo. I was aware of the Sega Master System, but I only had one friend who owned that system, and I barely got to play it. When the 16 bit systems started coming out, I of course wanted Super Nintendo. I figured that Genesis would be a flop that no one would own or care about. And then came Sonic... Sega's answer to the Super Mario Bros. Sonic mania was all the rage, and I did not stop hearing about how awesome this game was. I finally got to play Sonic at an uncle's house, and fell in love with it. At that point I had only known 8-Bit. Sonic blew the NES completely out of the water. I don't remember if I got the Genesis the year it came out, or the next year. I remember that despite liking Sonic, I still wanted a Super Nintendo because my brother had said he wanted Genesis. What is the point in having two of the same systems in the same household? I still have no idea, but my parents ended up getting both of us Genesis for Christmas. The original Sonic is a game that I played to death. It to this day is still a game that you can pick up and play and have an absolute blast doing so. That is the mark of a true classic. Overall, I find the Sonic series inferior to the Mario series, since all the games are so identical. And all the 3D next generation Sonic games have been shit. But there is no denying that this was a revolutionary experience when it originally came out. And it is a title that forever changed the landscape of video gaming. |

Sonic 2, is the best of the three, only beaten by Sonic CD for the rest of the series. And I still have faith that the 3d Sonic Series could have been saved
had Sonic X-Treme been released.

#8: Jurassic Park
I was a huge Jurassic Park fiend as a kid, so I just had to get this game the second it hit store shelves. For those not familiar, this was an awesome 2D side scroller for the Sega Genesis. Loosely following the plot of the movie, you can play as Dr Grant or as a velociraptor. As Grant you are armed with an arsenal of weapons and must play through several dino-packed levels to make it to the end and escape the island. As the raptor, it is your goal to hunt and kill Dr Grant. There are lots of cool stages in the game - like the power station, the Visitor Center, and the raft level. The T-Rex stands as a classic villain in this game. It is a completely different game from Rampage Edition, which was included not so long ago on this list. This game is more of a slow moving, exploration based game, whereas Rampage Edition is a fast paced, arcade style game. Overall this a pretty fun game, if you can get past the stiff controls and high degree of difficulty. I shafted this game by not including it in my top 100. I wasted so may hours on this title as a youth, that I just had to include it here. #7: Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
While most titles on this list are nostalgic games that I spent a lot of time playing in my youth, this is actually a game that I was not introduced to until adulthood. So I had this girlfriend, who I mentioned waaaaaaaaay back in this thread. She was a master at Mario 2 for the NES, and had this way of getting five extra lives every single time at that slot machine bonus game. Anyway, a friend of hers gave her a Sega Genesis for her birthday or something, and this was one of the many titles included. Having never played this, I was eager to check it out. Turns out, this was a really amazing game. It is like a mix of Tetris and Dr Mario. In single player, you square off with a bad guy each round. It's your goal to line up these bean thingies and
make them dissappear (ala Dr Mario's vruses). You can rack up huge combos and drop them onto your enemies. That is how you beat them, by overloading them
with beans. Each bad guy gets progressively harder and faster as you near the end of the game. In multiplayer mode, it is basically the same thing except you
are playing against a human instead. This girlfriend and I wasted soooooo much time playing this game, it wasn't even funny. And our matches were so
intense and competitive. She gave me a pretty good run for my money, but overall I usually won out.
So yeah. Picture Dr Mario, except a thousand times more furious, colorful, and fast paced. This game is way addicting, and a worthy addition to anyone's Genesis collection. |

#6: X-Men
I'm updating this quickly so I can get on to the Top 5, where I will announce which games did NOT make the list! This game is a 2D side scrolling platformer. The basic gist of the story is that Magneto has transmitted a virus to the Danger Room, and trapped the X-Men inside of some dangerous combat situations. You play as your choice of Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, or Nightcrawler. You can switch between them at any point in the game. If they die, they are out of the equation. Also, you can call upon fellow X-Men like Storm, Archangel, and Rogue to come help you out during the battles, but you may not control them. You can call on ice man too, but all he does is create a bridge that helps you cross impassable chasms. You also fight almost all the popular X-Men mega villains at some point in this title. You punch and kick your enemies, as well as using your mutant abilities. The controls are pretty simplistic, and the game is easy to pick up and get into right off the bat. I remember this being quite a difficult game when I was a kid. Although I played it so much I eventually became a master. In one of the stages you actually have to push the reset button on the console to make it out of the level. I thought it was a glitch for the longest time, but eventually I figured it out. After you have made it out of the Danger Room, you must go up to Asteroid X or whatever it is called and take on Magneto in one final battle. The last stage is really really hard, from my memory. This game was followed up by a sequel - the Clone Wars, which made the list a few entries back. If you have never experienced the greatness that is the X-Men games for Sega Genesis I highly suggest you go out and do that now. They do not disappoint!! |

Yay, that's the one... the Genesis X-Men game I played. I liked Nightcrawler the most. I was disappointed Storm and Angel were only summons, but at least
they were there.

Lol @ Iceman being useless.
Wolverine, Gambit and Cyclops? How typical. |

I remember this game being one of those titles where if you play it on easy, it stops at the midway point and makes you start over again playing on normal. I
hated that! Especially considering it took me so long to get to that point to begin with. But the game is really easy if you play with Nightcrawler because he
can teleport through walls, allowing you to skip the majority of all the puzzle solving parts of the game. Iceman was pretty useless because you never really
needed those ice bridges he would build. You could easily jump-kick across all of them. Or use Nightcrawler to teleport you across.

Did Rival Schools or Project Justice make the list? I actually took out my Dreamcast and played PJ again. <3

You have a Dreamcast? I thought I was the only one. Eventually I will get to ranking the Dreamcast games. What else do you have?
I have never played any of those games. |

I loved my Dreamcast...though the only thing I played on it was Sonic Adventure, but I loved that game and I wish my system wasn't so skippy now so I could
play it once more.
