And before I forget, I must take the time to recognize the brilliance that was Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy for the PC.

I played these games over and over whenever I would visit my grandparent's house.

I am sorry pinoyako, I do feel your pain in this matter. Are you a fan of Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter? What about Psychonauts? Those games have
made the list.

DK Country did not make it. That game is a casualty of me having a Sega Genesis instead of a Super Nintendo when I was growing up as kid. I have played it and
it does seem fun though.

It took me forever to figure out how to beat the raptors in the last level though. |

I know. Who would have thought you had to throw grenades at the statues when all you had been doing the whole game was killing dinosaurs?
<3 Rampage Edition although it was too short and easy. I got it for Christmas and beat it the first time I played it. I was like WTF? |

I prefered the SNES version of Jurassic Park. Whenever you would get in a building, it was really tense and creepy.

I played the SNES version too, and enjoyed it. I got freaked out when you had to enter the buildings too. The only downside to that game is that I only played
it once at a friend's house when he rented it for the weekend, and after a while we got lost and didn't know where to go next. The only Jurassic Park
game I played that I didn't like was Lost World for PlayStation. WAY too hard.
The NES version of Jurassic Park is good, too. It is an over-the top view action shooter. But it's VERY hard. I am considering playing that one again sometime soon. I played the PC Jurassic Park too. I was nuts about the JP franchise in my younger days as you can tell. That one is excellent as well. It is another overhead view game, except this one is a litle bit more puzzle based. There are some first person levels in this game too that are even creepier than the SNES version. But your gun is useless and you basically end up running from everything. |

I very rarely got video games at Christmas as a kid. One year though I did have a gift wrapped up that was shaped like a SNES game, and had the weight of a
SNES game... I was so excited, what great game would it be? I unwrapped the gift, and it ended up being... Jurassic Park.

Aside from Xenogears and FF7, probably the best game ever IMHO. Wish you'd gotten a chance to play it Rudy! Best 16 bit RPG ever, easily. Infact its
largely responsible for me getting into video game RPGs in the first place.

Resident Evil (PlayStation)
OMG! I know a lot of you are probably going to be shocked or stunned to see this game so high on the list. *cue the spnintendo response about hating scary games* This is bound to be a disappointing entry for a few people. I wonder if wyldawg like it.... But to me, this game was earth shattering. When I first picked it up, I had never played anything like it before, and it completely blew me away. First off, I just again want to stress how revolutionary this game was for me. I had never played anything more advanced than a Sega Genesis, and this was the first PlayStation game I ever played. My stepbrother had brought his PlayStation over for the weekend and rented this game. I started playing not knowing what to expect. What I got was greatness. The game starts off with a pretty cool opening cinema. A rash of bizarre killings in a small neighborhood prompted an investigation from your team, the STARS Unit. The first group that was sent in disappeared, not to be heard from again. You are in the forest investigating the disappearance of that group when you are attacked by a hound of rabid dogs. You and your team flees to an abandoned mansion, where the real game begins. The dialogue in this game is pretty bad. I didn't really care way back in the day because it was so new to me. But now I can see how cheesy it is. You investigate the mansion, to discover a zombie feasting on the corpse of one of the other teams' member. This game differs if you play as Chris or Jill. If you play as Chris, you are pretty much on your own the rest of the game, until you meet a girl named Rebecca (not in Jill's story). You also start out armed only with a knife. As Jill, you start with a handgun, and you also have some help. In the form of teammate Barry Burton (not in Chris' story). Jill's storyline is a little bit easier since you start with a gun, so that is what I played the most as a young 'un. For me, this game was jaw dropping. The graphics were stellar for their time. As was the music and voice acting ( This is where the game really gets scary. I thought it was pretty creepy at the beginning, but this title delivered the first ever "jump out of your seat" moment for me in video game history. It was when the dogs come bursting through the windows in the long corridor. I seriously jumped because I didn't see it coming. It was then that I knew this game was special. I tried fighting the dogs. I probably died a lot. I made the same mistake the first few times I played the game. Now I just know you can run from them. This game delivers many more thrills and chills. As you explore this abandoned, creepy as fuck mansion, you will encounter random zombies and other monstrosities along the way. The thrill of thid game for me came upon the first few times playing it. Exploring each room and not knowing what laid behind each door. Ammo is pretty scarce in this title, and if you shoot before thinking, you may find yourself in a world of trouble. This game also has a lot of strong puzzle elements to it. The mansion is so huge, and there is so much to explore. To get to areas you sometimes will need to use keys that you find, or use items to solve certain mysteries of the mansion. The game is so big it is hard to beat without an FAQ guide. I got just flat out stuck many times within my first couple playthroughs. This game has many big, creative bosses to fight along the way, in addition to a fascinating storyline. I won't spoil anything, but one of the people on your team may not be as good as he seems. You may not like the high ranking that this game has, but you must know that this game blew me away and had me hooked like no other when it first came out. I was enthralled by it, and it consumed my every thought and action. And that's really what determines a great game, huh? Hmmm..... what could be number one? I will tell you what it WON'T be, after the break! |

I've actually never played the first one, cause I had the N64 and not the first PS, but I have lots of love for the series in general. Its definitely one of the most important/popular video game franchises of our time, so it defo deserves its rank. |
