Midnight Hour by Wilson Pickett

Raised by a single mom. Broken family. Boo-hoo? Yup ... the elevator tea.rs flowed freely.

A slow and very gospel-fied start to the Wilson Pickett (formerly up-tempo) classic. He finally takes it up tempo, but the vocal is just ... okay. Pitch is okay. He's not moving, just making faces. Well, I stand corrected; he's moving the heel of one foot. I prefer the choir, and he finally misses a note toward the end. A 6.

Randy: This is cool. Like you started w/a gospel vibe. You definitely proved you can blow in the front. Fell a little apart at the end. Watch the phrasing. But .. It's ON!
Paula: I feel for you, the first contestant. Loved your vocals, your vibrato. Good job.
Simon: David, it was better than I thought it would be. Beginning, terrific. Middle, in the headlights. End, you lost a note. Loosen up. Very stiff and nervous. I didn't hear anything distinct, but I liked the beginning.
