I'm throwing down the gauntlet to all you "edgic is spoiled" people. It's wholly inappropriate to discuss spoilers in edgic, so to all of
you who drive by saying "you're all spoiled neener neener neener", this is your place to actually prove it. Name names, name spoilers (with
Sunsawed's permission since this is Spec), but be specific because I am not buying the general "you're spoiled [whaaaaa]" posts.
I'll start with a very specific counter argument...and Sunsawed if this is inappropriate, I'll
edit it out...but I'm going to warn that it includes a spoiler. Is this OK Sunsawed, since the topic is essentially "how spoiled is this forum?"

I (wish I hadn't) read a pre-season spoiler that Natalie lost a lot of weight. Meaning,
she probably makes it relatively far into the game. I could only imagine that if she was out before day 33 she'd have gained most of it back in a week and
a half of loser lodge eating, or if it was after day 33 that she was booted, she'd probably bare a lot of the markings of someone who did well physically
speaking.
Now, in light of that, how many people have voted for Natalie to be a winner? None. How many people have voted to eliminate Natalie as a possible winner?

--- Spoiler--- The fact that there is a weight loss spoiler for that particular person to go far and they've been eliminated by edgic doesn't mean that edgic isn't spoiled (not saying it is one way or another) because it could just mean that the person makes it far but doesn't win. present your arguments about specific posters in edgic who are spoiled, I'm all ears.

That's not a case. You don't have a case. And warn that you're posting spoilers because I've been a Parvati supporter all along and haven't heard a thing about her being
spoiled. Thanks, maybe you didn't notice that we're still warning people when we post spoiled information and posting it in colors so you have to
highlight to read it. Think before you post spoilers.
I supported Amanda all season last year BEFORE I was spoiled. The only spoiler I knew in week 1 was the one I posted above and I edgically picked Parv though I never posted it because of my knowledge of above spoilers. Make a case...name names. I can name names of supporters of Amanda and Parvati who I know are anti-spoilers...what can you provide? No-thing. |

Find the names yourself if you're so concerned. Just find the big Amanda supporters last season and Parvati ones this season. Not people who supported one
or the other, BOTH.

Correlation doesn't always prove causation...take a statistics class and explain the correlation between ice cream consumed at the beach and shark attacks
on the same day. They may correlate, but their relationship is not causative. Show me someone who's posting in spoilers who's influencing edgic?
I'm aware of a few (and many such as myself skip their posts). JediJake, Astro, Craig, ProbstFan, Oowatanite to name a few. Several spoiled people (such
as myself) do ratings but don't post on winner spec because of spoiler information. But much of the edgic crew skips over posts by those people and are
actively trying to get a couple of them banned for posting spoilers.

I'll even help you out...here's a list of Parvati supporters. Show me their posts in
threads about spoilers. And I'll show your their oaths they've taken against spoilers, the entire message boards systems that Pulau Tiga started to
try to get completely away from spoilers and so forth.

Can we not talk about spoilers? please?") guatemala fanfic warrior (hates spoilers, anti-spoiler oath taken 1/26/08) MasterDarkNinja (affirmed on 1/31 that he hasn't read spoilers since Palau) Apollo Italiano Pulau Tiga (anti-spoiler oath taken 1/26, started a whole private forum for edgic because he/she hates spoilers so much) Island Sun (anti-spoiler oath taken 1/30/08) Fat Little Fingers (hates spoilers) Zesty66 Francois40 (hates spoilers, doesn't even like to analyze the "next week on" segments for things like the tribal swap) Here's a post from ProbstFan (2/8/08) which, if it's true, certainly deflates your case that our 53% winner pick from episode 1 can't be from spoilers: I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are no winner spoilers and no final 3 spoilers at all. And there are a lot of spoilers that are contradicting each other. i.e. "________ goes early" and another spoiler says that same person makes it far. Basically, it's the least spoiled season in a long time. No one has any idea who wins, or even who makes it to the final 3.Here's a 2/13/08 post from Oowatanite: The spoilers are terrible this season. And they are often conflicting as well. This topic is pointless. Unless you have a signed photograph of a specific poster, along with DNA evidence and a copy of their computer's hard drive, the
response is: "Oh everyone says they dislike spoilers so obviously they aren't using them."
I think the point is more of a general one than one that has to do with specific posters. As many Edgic posters themselves claim: it doesn't take explicit mention of spoilers to have spoiler influence. Even if there isn't a direct paper trail leading to posters A, B, and C, it is very possible for a spoiled Survivor Sucks community to have influence over Edgic. In reality, the absolute spoiler denial seems supported nearly entirely by poster reputation, rather than an overall evaluation. As much shit as some people talk about Edgic's successes and how great they do, many claim that much of Edgic legitimately and in absence of Spoilers picked Amanda last season. No, seriously, Amanda. And unless someone has private eye evidence that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt otherwise, then clearly that's the truth. Forgive some of us for being skeptical, but in light of that decision and overall PREVAILING AND DOMINATING opinion throughout much of last season, it looked mighty suspicious. As for this season, my initial spoiler worries kicked in after a ton of people supported (and continue to support) Alexis (who?) after 4 episodes of blah borderline UTR/MOR editing and virtually no story centrality and character development. I'd be inclined to say similar things about Tracy, but I think that's more because so many people love Tracy as a character. Luckily, though, there are apparently no spoilers out there. Just some rambling from a long timer Edgic lurker that will be viewed as heretical and unfounded accusation. Don't mind me. |

Personally, I don't understand how you guys determine which tribe is complex and which tribe isn't. I mean, going by the single person ratings,
I'd say Airai is more CP, while Malakal is more OTT. I mean, Malakal has been ALL about the couples. It's not complex. It's one note. Airai has
been about Chet hatred, but Tracy/Kathy/Chet and Joel has been changing that around. I'd say Airai is the complex tribe and they just haven't gotten
the screentime due to them competing against Favorites.
