I'd love for Carly to make final 2. She would be the easiest final 2 opponent ever.
Let's see, who is America going to vote for...the wholesome American kid vs. the freaky tattooed Irish chick? That's a tough one. Whereas Brooke would at least put up somewhat of a fight, possibly horning in on some of the Southern and Midwestern votes. Plus, Brooke has a warm personality, whereas Carly has zero charisma and zero stage presence. Although it will probably be two guys in the final 2 anyway.

I used to be indifferent but last night's performance has pushed me into hate. That was the lamest song ever and those pants were revolting. I don't

It's funny how they keep her husband out of the audience so tv viewers won't see him. Her mother is far prettier than she is. I'm sick of the
closeups of her big open mouth yelling each week, it is not pretty. Most singers with big voices like that do not make such ugly faces when holding a note.
Celine Dion makes it look totally effortless so does Mariah. Her voice has no unique quality to it, just a generic yelling sound.

I dunno, I like watching her scowl actually. That just tells me that she's trying to sing from deep in her gut, which is good. Besides, I like how Carly isn't superficial like that. I also don't think you can compare her to Celine & Mariah, because they're totally different singers. Carly is probably not a great balladeer like they are, but, conversely, I don't think either two can match this Irish woman singing heavy/bluesy rockers. That said, her voice is a little generic and a little lacking in nuances, which could be why she tries to over-compensate for it with facial expressions.
And like Randy said last night, she sometimes has difficulty with the softer notes. BUt I think she just gets careless with them. The other thing I've
noticed is she tends either nervous or cold when she first starts singing on stage, which happens a bit on idol.

I just wish she'd make an effort to connect with the audience. It's as if she's singing by herself in a recording studio. A smile at the camera
every now and then or a nod to someone in the audience might by nice.

Not a great singer. Just a competent one.
The instrument is just not a Strad. It's one of those $1200 cheapos from China. She has the voice to sing the vocals for the cover songs on "dancing with the stars"... or maybe a bar mitzvahs or, yes, Cruise ships & theme parks. A clear cut below the singers they use for disco versions of pop hits in Europe. Being loud and on-key is not all there is to singing. If it were, MY singing would be considered very good, and it's very meh, worthy only of a church choir. |
