Boomie just wrapped a bit part in a movie called "Winged Creatures" and started recording her first CD, that's scheduled to be released in October (which means it will be late).
Also, rumors out there that she's been discussed to play Aretha when they do a movie of her life that's being talked about. And she was just inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the group that hands out the Oscars. To answer your question...she probably did peak too soon. I think she'll have success for awhile, but I think it's gonna be tough to top winning an Oscar, although Grammys are definitely a possibility. |

No, she didn't peak too soon, she's only 25.
Normally, it's the child stars who peak too soon and eventually burn out. Boomie is intelligent and mature enough to maintain her star power. |

In "Dreamgirls", she had every right to be a thoughtless pig, though I don't see her as that. She was the heart and soul of the Dreams, and then she got screwed by pretty much everyone. You can't blame Effie for wanting hers and acting out the way she did. It may not have been wise, but it was understandable. Deena Jones may have had the style and photogenic qualities, but at the end of the day Effie White WAS the Dreams.

Effie wasn't particularly likeable at times, but I couldn't take my eyes off Jennifer playing her. She was simply riveting.

She may have 'peaked' but that doesn't mean she won't have a long career. The same thing could be said about Marisa Tomei after she won Best Supporting Actress: her roles never reached "Vinny" level but she's been working steadily including a terrific turn in "In The Bedroom".
I sorta hope Boomie doesn't do Aretha as it would be too much like her role as Effie. She's proved she can do drama and a television role in a dramatic series would be excellent for her (as opposed to being typecast as the big, black wisecracking bf to the skinny lead actress in a comedy). |

I hated Effie in every scene after the big I'm Telling You number. However, I hated Deana even more. I actually thought Dreamgirls was not great overall. I needed more character development all around. Beyonce did well with what she was given but Deana was very one dimensional. And frankly I didn't find much of the music to be catchy or fun like I find Motown music to be, so I ended up fast forwarding through alot of the singing. I only watched Effie's songs because I love Jennifer Hudson.
