It started with 7m viewers and ended with about 6m - it means people are turned off by it and aren't sticking around through the entire episode. Usually,
you look to PICK UP viewers throughout the entire hour.

Um if the crazy antics and fights last nite don't bring in viewers this upcoming week when it gets showed on TV then nothing will bring in the viewers. CBS
can't expect huge #'s from BB regardless. Its a summer staple. The highest ratings BB7 and BB8 ever got was maybe 7.9 million viewers by the end of the
season. Anything over 7 million is decent IMO.

Agreed.. I really wouldn't give a shit about the ratings if I knew we'd get a full season (not even -- just as long as it isn't fuckin 6 weeks), but I doubt we will now. They should have saved this cast for the summer. |

BMH69 wrote:You have to take in account that internet feed viewes account for only a small percentage of viewers. In other words, we really don't matter. Its all about money to the networks and if this show doesn't maintain a 4 in the ratings, I predict the couples format will be dropped and they will go back to the original Big Brother format. |

I bet a lot of people tuned out at 8:30 to see who won American Gladiators (there is crossover between those audiences). If it dips again next Sunday that would not be so good. |

Last season the ratings went up after people heard about Dicks antics, and people turned in to see what it's all about. If the same thing havens with word
of mouth this season, it might start beating out idol.
(that beating out idol comment was not serious) |

i have several friends who are BB fans but not live feeders. they're confused about the schedule, for one thing. one called me last night and didn't
know when it's on---another friend had called him and said 'you've got to see this. it's awesome.'
so that's part of the problem, plus a lot of people just won't watch it no matter what. i'm sure TPTB know that. this show isn't ever going to be a big hit but it fills air time and it does have a following. another question: how many people do you think watch episodes online? because that's what my friend is going to do to catch up. |

diewinelle wrote: I actually agree about the scheduling. Thats one of the problems. The main problem is they can't show 85% of what we see on the feeds and it makes for
a very confusing show. And they would be fined by the FCC if they did show some of it. And Network executives count on the main TV viewing over another venue because thats where most of the profit is from. I think the couples format is also driving viewers away and maybe they will move away from it if the ratings fall some more. |

Ratings really are a joke now, with DVR's and Online viewing it's just not accurate.

Just for some perspective... the first Sunday show for BB8 drew practically the same #. It did increase weeks later, though. CBS will have to be patient with this sucker. Maybe give it a Survivor lead-in once in a while. |

I can see them trimming the show down to 2 nights a week, instead of 3... but I don't think they'd cancel it, even if the #s lowered. They'd do the 6 week run and that would be that. |

Melca, I know, but when people discuss the ratings, especially in a show like big brother, I think they are trying to bash that people aren't watching the
show anymore.
A survivor lead in would be great, or just better commercials then the stupid ones they play. The time changes screwed people up, and with AI it's near impossible to draw the same crowd as last season. |

I think people need to relax I don't believe the show is going to get canceled, or we will get a short season. This ratings are similar for the start of
BB8 and the ratings went up as the season went along, I believe the ratings did the same thing for BB7. I think it just means that big brother stays a summer
show, but I don't think it is going to get canceled anytime soon. Big brother is a cheap filler they had because of short notice of the writer's
strike. not all returning tv shows will be back in april.

Just looked it up... S8 Sunday premiere did 5.85 mil viewers. So it did just as crappy.

CBS has a bunch of good shows comming back in March,
HIMYM The Big Bang Theory Two and a Half Men CSI Miami and Cold Case With a little scheduling restructure, they could get a good lead in. |
