I have to say, I'm impressed with this season's intro. It felt fast for a change, and it had amazing, dramatic shots like Jason stumbling, Amanda
falling, Ozzy diving, and Jonathon with blood shot eyes.

The credits are interesting, but I'm not sure how much real information can be gleaned from them at this point. It's fun to speculate, though. |

I believe there were only 2 people (both women) whose pictures didn't have water on them, fire burning them up, or droplets. Just clear faces. Can't
remember who. Ok--It is Alexis, Amy, and to a lesser extent, Eliza.

Koan, I knew you would start this. I always love your speculation of the intro. I too love Micronesia's fast paced opening compared to
China's slower one. It looks like we have another season where the pictures have fire, smoke, water or nothing on them. Most of the fans have fire/smoke
while most of the favorites have water. Usually, water in the intro never bodes well but Yul won and he was swimming and had water/bubbles on his pic in Cook
Islands, so we'll see. For a further breakdown, here is the order and actions/pics of each Survivor:
Fans Erik: Swimming, strong fire in pic. Natalie: Walking, strong fire in pic. Mikey B: Hitting/falling in challenge, medium/strong water in pic. Mary: Walking, smoke in pic. Joel: Being grabbed in challenge, medium/strong water in pic. Tracy: Smiling/laughing, weak fire in pic. Chet: Looking up, strong fire in pic. Alexis: Jumping/diving in challenge, nothing in pic. Jason: Running/stumbling in water, strong fire in pic. Kathy: Smiling in water challenge, weak/medium fire in pic. Favorites: James: Walking, strong water in pic. Amanda: Falling during challenge, weak water in pic. Ozzy: Swimming in challenge, strong fire in pic. Cirie: Laughing (straight at camera), medium/strong water in pic. Ami: Walking, nothing in pic. Jonathan: Coming up for air in water challenge, weak water in pic. Eliza: Walking, weak water in pic. (However, her pic is not a close up, ala Janu) Yau-Man: Tackled in challenge, weak water in pic. Parvati: Looking around, medium/strong water in pic. Jonny Fairplay: Looking around confused, weak/medium water in pic. Also, Tracy and Alexis don't get their name in their action shot, only their pics. |

Natalie got Courtney's placement from last season and Ami got PG's.
Edit: Ami also got the shark image in her segment. Alexis got the only other animal...a ray. Jonathan had the sail being raised which was interesting imagery.

Is it just me, or did the fire and water effects seem totally fake in this intro, especially the fire. Compare it to the fire used in intros like Palau and
Exile Island, and it just doesn't seem real. It's a shame, really. I always liked the idea of someone setting the castaways' photos on fire just
to get good intro shots.

So next week they obviously have a jump-and-break-plates challenge and also some sort of physical challenge where they all wear face paint.
The intrso always spoil the Ep. 2 challenges. |

Yeah, you're probably right about challenges. And yeah, I never noticed that about the intros. It is kinda true if you think about it. Like both of Bobby
Jon's intro shots showing Ep2 challenges in both Palau and Guatemala.

To me, it looks like they're showing three challenges in the intro; the plate-breaking challenge, a physical challenge and a challenge where they have to
get across floating pads - see Alexis and Jason's intro shots.

In All Stars a Romber final 2 was backed by their intros being backwards from everyone elses (photo then action shot). In Vanuatu there was another something
that separated Chris and Twila. It probably doesn't mean much but Tracy and Alexis do not have text over their action shots, and they're the only TWO.
It actually makes them less noticeable more than anything but still different! Now if only it wasn't a final THREE (just guessing)

The Chris/Twila thing you're referring to is that both of their pictures had the whole "shaking/vibrating" thing. Y'know, I've always
wondered if the first boot of a season can be picked out by the intro in the same way people try to pick the winner through them.

This might be a stretch but after watching the credits again, I noticed how Jonathan is shown coming up out of the water. Also at the end of the credits the
"sole survivor" is shown coming up out of the water with the torch.
Jonathan = Winner? I am just speculating for the hell of it :) |
