Press releases were saying 2 seasons, I'm guessing Stern's is less reliable. Not that I'm suggesting it won't go for four more seasons, but I
can only imagine that it'll be year to year contracts at this point...

Are you sure he didn't say two more seasons? The articles I've read say the show (and Probst) are renewed through season 18.
But I'd say it's a safe bet it will get picked up for 19 and 20. It's a consistent winner for CBS on Thursday nights. |

I hope JerseyJerk is right. I've heard about it being renewed for two more seasons, but two more years would be
great. I would finally be able to apply.
Heres hopin for two more years, not just two more seasons! |

im just reporting what I heard....It was the wrap up of todays show. Jeff straight out said "2 more years...thats 4 more seasons" after being asked
how much longer he gunna be hosting.
I dont get how he could confuse the news he should of all people me aware of |

Well, that's great news if it's true. If Probst said it, I tend to believe him. Seeing as he's the host of the show and all.

Maybe he's planning to go four more seasons. I guess that doesn't unnecessarily mean the show will go four more seasons. But, Survivor is a top rated
show (especially on thursdays at 8), so I can't see it not going until at least season 20.

CBS renews 'Survivor'Jan 29, 2008 CBS has renewed "Survivor" for next season, ordering a 17th and 18th installment of the long-running reality series.Additionally, Jeff Probst has signed a new deal to continue as host. " 'Survivor' has become an expected treat every Thursday at 8 p.m., and I am glad our loyal fans can continue their appointment television with us," executive producer Mark Burnett said. The series' 16th edition, "Survivor: Micronesia," premieres Feb. 7. Casting for "Survivor 17" is under way. "I still get excited to get on the plane and travel to another exotic location with another group of adventure-seeking, type-A personalities," said Probst, who has been host since the series' inception. "It is without question the best job I've ever had." The most recent installment, "Survivor: China," averaged 15.2 million viewers and a 5.1 rating/14 share among adults 18-49. While the franchise has been trekking down in the ratings since its early heyday, it still dominates its time period, anchoring CBS' Thursday lineup. "It is truly a remarkable feat to be winning your time period in all ratings categories after 15 editions," CBS reality chief Ghen Maynard said. "The show's success is testimony to the creativity and passion of Mark, Jeff and the entire production team and to a brilliant concept that continually introduces new casts and settings, making each season feel like a new series." |

Both statements are probably true. Producers can sign talent to multiple years even if the series isn't picked up. So the network has probably picked up
two more seasons, and Jeff's signed a contract for 4 more seasons...the final two obviously wouldn't get made if the network didn't buy them.
But I'm just speculating... |

CBS has renewed Survivor for two more seasons, S17 and S18. Dalton Ross of EW has revealed that Probst has signed on for
four more seasons (to S20), if Survivor lasts that long. And unless the ratings really tank in the next few seasons, Survivor will almost
certainly be eventually renewed by CBS for S19 and S20.

That makes sense. They did the same thing last time around. Jeff signed on for seasons 12-16 after his contract was up, but they renewed the show 2 seasons
at a time.
Good to hear that Jeff signed on for 4 more seasons. |
