I have mixed feelings about her. I like that fact that she doesn't come off as fake at all. She does seem like a rocker, not a rocker wannabe singing
Celine (Gina Glocksen, I'm looking at you). Like with David Cook, I want to see if she can do other genres.

I think she is talented, I'm glad they made her sing another song.
Nothing rubs me the wrong way more than girls that do Janis Joplin for the AI audition and they sound like JJ Impersonators. See, I hate Janis Joplin - I think she was an overrated, ugly skank with a poor voice. The only thing she did was be the first white woman to sing the blues with conviction. |

I think she would be a real alternative to the rest of the females, when like people said all females are trying to be the next Celine or Carrie Underwood, at least Amanda Overmeyer will be trying to be the next Janis Joplin or the femme daughtry.... it would be nice to have a real rocker in there to keep things honest. |

I cannot believe she's 23. I'm glad they made her sing another song too, because the JJ imitation was forced and contrived. I think there's a good
bluesy voice in there, but she'll have to learn to switch gears vocally or else she's going to be a one trick pony. Still, like McW said, this chick is
a breath of fresh air from the usual suspects. I really want to like her and I hope she does well.

There was a short clip on Fox last night of part of her Hollywood performance. She may have seemed like a one-trick pony at the audition, but if this clip is
a better indication of her ability, this girl can saaaang (in a gravelly voice, of course).

It's kind of interesting to me that people piss and moan bitch about the potential for her voice to become grating after a while, when we've got one
Celine/Whitney/Christina clone after another caterwauling for seven fucking seasons. Not to mention all of these breathy, thin-voiced pussy dick boyband
clones. Yet no one ever seems to get tired of that shit. Unless it's just the rasp that people don't like - that would be understandable as it's
a personal preference thing. I love it personally but it's not for everyone.
I'd rather hear her growl her way through every song this season than hear one more tone deaf twuntheap butcher Aretha or Stevie ever, ever again. |
