Perhaps it would be better to say the Nness of that scene would dilute the P quality of his earlier appearance (when his brother was there.) He didn't get a whole lot this episode. Looking at it now, it really feels like there are a number of possible winners. I mean, if you don't do Edgic and notice the little details we do notice about the early edit and the too-long period of utr-ness, it would be possible to view Cirie, Amanda and even Erik as a "contender to win the million." Most viewers go by increased visibility as it happens. They wouldn't want Natalie to win, but they're out there rooting for Amanda for sure. Isn't her late-game brilliant move more likely a distraction for someone whose edit has been building all season? Do you suppose that people answered Parvati as the person they thought mistakenly thinks is running this game, because they don't want it to be her but she seems to them to act like she's running the game? And that's because she is actually running the game!

Some post-one-watch-ratings: Alexis- CP4 (though looking back, I suppose I could see MOR) Amanda- CPP5 Cirie- CP4 (it seems strange... usually CP edits are more memorable than Cirie was for me this episode. Hmm.) Erik- MOR2 James- MORP3 Natalie- UTR2 Parvati- CP3 (not seeing the P here) Winners: 1. Parvati. Surely.

Really quiet in the beginning, and then really picking up speed towards the finale. I thought she was going to win Survivor; China at the end, because everything seemed poised for her to win; everyone liked her it seemed and she was strategic, who knew she would bomb at the final tribal council? If Amanda ended up winning, wouldn't she have a very non-conventional winning edit? Maybe more like Danni's?

But I think they have made Amanda much more likeable than she was last season. I'm not sure tons of people were cheering for her. This time they have shown us more than just Amanda the strategist.

For example, I doubt we'd have spent time listening to Cirie talk about Ami's boobs at that spa reward; we would have had a confessional from Amanda at least, and likely have seen her getting a letter from home, along with a couple of other letters. That spa reward would have been edited differently I reckon, especially since it would have been an opportunity to establish connections to those among the group who were destined to be future jurors as well as people who would make it to the F5 with her (if the mix had indeed been the same as it is now, with Ozzy already empaneled and Cirie and Erik both still in the game.) They did show some of that reward, but why spend time on Ami unless it's because nobody from that group even faces the jury?

Sitting on a couch, sweating at about 103 degrees and feeling faint isn't real good for watching or posting. I was out of line to astro, and I apologize. Erik was as reasoned as Cirie was in finding the best path for him to win. Trying to make that an intended Tone is silly. It's not there. I think some are reacting to a value judegement and not the portrayal. We saw his reasoning. Was he supposed to force a tie anymore than Cirie? No. No blaming Amanda for trying, nor for him taking his best route at the time. Michael

Talk about being caught off guard. Huh? James is on the jury already? Everyone's ganging up on Amanda except Parvati? And including Cirie? Erik's getting hammered for disloyalty? And of course, I didn't have any idea that Amanda had the idol. Follow that all up with Alexis getting voted out, and it seemed a very strange TC. I've caught up now on what I missed, but I'm having trouble coming up with a plausible F3 now. Amanda can't be there because we've just been shown she'd win in a landslide. But Erik can't really be there either given his string of OTTP's - more likely whatever negative he has from this episode is just to show his fatal mistake. That leaves Parvati (who is certainly there and is almost certainly the winner), Natalie (who is almost certainly there now that Alexis is gone and is probably going to be shown as shocked when she loses to the delight of the viewers), and Cirie. Cirie's the one who doesn't seem to fit - up until now, I was pretty confident that she wouldn't be in F3, but at this point she almost has to be (edit or no edit). Either that or Amanda finds a way to blow it in front of the jury again (though I can't see the edit she's getting supporting that). Most likely result at this point - Erik goes home next after failing to win immunity. After being willing to sell out his allies for the second time in the game, no one will trust him enough to spare him. Natalie wins F4 immunity (as Parvati apparently predicted in this last episode). Cirie sides with Natalie in an effort to get out Amanda to save herself and surprisingly wins the tiebreaker. Votes: Eliza - Cirie (they had a bond early in the game) Ozzy - Natalie (the other two betrayed him) Jason - ? James - Parvati (forgives her and doesn't like the other two anyway) Alexis - Natalie (ally whole game) Erik - ? Amanda - Parvati (ally whole game and stood by her) I really don't know how Jason and Erik might vote in this situation. I think Jason would have certainly voted for Natalie if she hadn't blindsided him. In his final words, he even remarked that it could come back to bite her in the end, and it would if he's the final vote for a Parvati win! Erik could conceivably vote for Natalie as a fellow fan, but a lot depends on how he's voted out. I could definitely see a vote for Cirie since he spent significant time with her after the switch (and they aligned their votes this last vote for whatever reason). I have trouble seeing Erik voting for Parvati since he didn't spend much time with her at all. So let's give Cirie Erik's vote, and have Jason break the tie in favor of Parvati, who wins 3 - 2 - 2. (Alternatively, Ozzy could vote Parvati just because she did stand by Amanda this last vote - it would definitely be a surprise with the way Ozzy went out.)

Alexis - MOR3 Whimpers out with a bland but graceful exit. Dimples that adorable deserve a personality. Amanda - CPP5 Great acting job. Cirie - CP3 Edit continuing on it's pace. Erik - MOR2 Potentially Mixed if you want to indicate there was some tone, but not enough either way to go P or N. James - MORP3 If you want to be on the next edition of Survivor, place your application at www.klutzesontv.com. Natalie - UTR2 Potential carryover N from previous ep. recap. Parvati - CP3 Edit continuing on it's pace. Great time for them to start introducing a bit of P into her edit. Like Erik, potentially Mixed, but not enough for a solid P or N. Winner: Cirie or Parvati, and since my pre-merge choice was Cirie, I'l stick with it until she's voted out, but both edits make perfect sense for winners.

Cirie, while casting a vote for Amanda, said, "We both know this is just going through the motions. This doesn't mean anything. All part of the plan." I am certain Cirie was told about the idol either on the way to TC or it was cut for suspense given we never saw Amanda find it and she could have told her after it was found. It could have been made 3/3, but maybe after it was found Amanda wanted to use her idol to save herself from a majority vote.

Finding meaningful snippets in early episodes and assigning end-game significance to them is tough. Amanda is a much better actor than I thought. I couldn't believe she carried the fight with Erik to TC. We've seen people with schemes before who change their personality at TC, but this is the first time a scheme was sold properly all the way to the end. It seems like each week I am picking the current episode has having one of the all-time best Survivor scenes, and I think I have to do it again. Amanda had me convinced that she really was fighting for her life. I don't think anybody gets a N rating this week. If anything, Amanda would have some N associated for making Erik feel guilty for playing the game. I think the only people who deserve tone are James and Amanda...both solidly P. I think Cirie signed her death warrant this week. Her RC confessional about growing and no longer seeing everyone as a threat and being scared all the time sounds like a setup for another back-door eviction. The best part of Cirie's game was being afraid of everyone and always looking out for herself. That confessional sounds like perfect foreshadowing.

The answer I'm coming up with now is Natalie. I don't even know how "Definitely" that is...we have seen PRECIOUS little of how Nat interacts with the others; all of the OTTNNNNNNNN stuff was in confessionals, and she had already said she "planned" to give great confessionals, so that is partly an act. We certainly can't attribute her INV/UTR edits to any "jury chances" since she is in fact there 24/7 like anybody else. I just can't see Amanda losing in a F3 scenario at this point, even though her edit eliminates her. Which means she goes out in 4th or 5th. There is still momentum there for Nat/Erik/Cirie to boot her next week. Or maybe it's because they really don't think she's running the game but want her to worry that maybe they want her to think that she's not runing the game, but really is, unless she isn't, whereupon she will be worried that she's not running the game when she thought that others also thought she wasn't? Maybe? I know this was tongue-in-cheek, but in fact, those questionnaires ARE all about second- and third-guessing, now that everybody knows that a) the scores will be based on "group opinion", and might in fact place their original vote with that in mind intsead of answering honestly, and b) In a coconut-chopping challenge, often people don't WANT to answer correctly and have to chop someone, so again, this plays with the kinds of answers people give in both stages. astroline, welcome to the club...you just need to start using emoticons The Edit button is our friend, as well.
