Dictatorship, the only person picking Alexis as the winner is me, I picked her episode five, and live with it until she is voted out. I would tell you that I am 95% sure it's Parvati and I was wrong. Kay?

Or option #3, "Those girls are owning the men." That's how I took it. It's the force that you may or may not root for, but that you are prepared to see assert control. My emotional reaction when watching the first time was, "Too bad the guys didn't see them coming." It was pity for the guys, not hatred for the girls. The girls were a little too smart. Put Natalie front and center for going after Jason, and she took the brunt of negativity in her reveling. I just didn't feel it was a given that it is to be disliked. Instead, it is meant to be grudingly accepted, kind of my reaction to a Parvati win as well.

presumptious - I think I'm the only one officially voting for her on the site compiling stats, getting real has been for Alexis a while, but haven't checked in with him lately.

TLS, good point about losing the ability to pick up on tone.

I was definitely feeling "Poor Jason" but I was also cackling along with the women.

just a couple of questions:

Why are some names italicized on the overall ratings chart? And what do the + and - mean in the strategy charts? Neither are explained on the first page, and I am much too lazy to find the answers elsewhere.

Was Cirie really an S2? Her only confessional was about James' finger and she was pretty neglected. She was in the background to the strategy sessions, but she was there.. I figured she was an S1?

Almost everything else she said was strategy related, she was usually one of the vocal ones you could clearly hear when the women were thinking up their plan. But yeah, she's right on the borderline of S1 and S2 this episode.

Looking back at Ep1 reactions

I've been spending time rereading our posts after Ep1. We pretty well had the season nailed, before we allowed the eds to confuse us with CP distractions .
(Or maybe I should just speak for myself and the whole Eliza, Ep4 debacle. :P If I'd trusted my Ep1 views, I'd be sitting pretty.)

At the end of Ep1, Alexis was high on radars as was Parvati and exactly for the same reasons that we focus on now:
Alexis defined the game and Parvati spoke the clearest and most directly in opposition to that theme.

Now, with Parvati looking to fulfill all the winner criteria that she was identified with in Ep 1, we have another season that reaffirms the importance of the opening scenes of the premiere ep.

1) Ami, Eliza, and Amanda being excluded from opening statements was a clear elimination factor.

2) Favorites' intro comments either directly related to the Alexis theme confessional (Jonathan, Ozzie, Parvati, Cirie.), or eliminated the character because of their off-theme comments: Yau-Man there just for the money, James saying he's a fan of the faves.

For the Fans, we saw a complete lack of meaningful opening confessionals. All spoke of their fan obsessions: Eric on Ozzy, Joel on James, Tracy hating Jonny and being starstruck by Jeff.

The one exception being Alexis, who got on the winner board with that one confessional. It's still a doozy of a confessional, still defines the winner's season, and probably lands Alexis in the top3.

Whatever else this season teaches us, we seem to have an Ep1 set of winner criteria that has been consistent in its ability to eliminate even the most interesting of characters and identify the winner.

Yau-Man may have looked promising in Fiji's Ep1, but even then he never moved above second place on the winner chart.
Todd met the criteria so well, I reacted by rejecting him as the winner. Objectivity is a bear!

This season, after Ep1, many of us named Alexis and Parvati as in our top two or three for the same criteria.

The pages after Ep1 are worth rereading. It's a pretty entertaining read too.

Still don't see what the hype with Alexis was. It was ONE narrative confessional. That's it.

My winner's list after Episode 1 looked like this...

Wow, Warrior, if what I read is correct, there were 8 N votes to 10 NN, i.e. 55.55555%--probably the closest call possible without being an official "Close Call".
