The editors may promote certain players to root for, but they realize that the viewers may root for anyone - perhaps your friend has a bit of an "evil" streak herself? I don't know when positive/negative started being used for good move/bad move instead of being used for ethical-sympathetic/unethical-unsympathetic, but that's the wrong use. "How can we be handing out Ns when some women finally get their game together!"? Because tone isn't about the quality of their games, but how they are presented. Jason made a wrong move, but he was portrayed this episode as a likeable but naive underdog led astray. Natalie made a suceesful tactical play (of questionable strategic worth), but she was portrayed as a villain reveling in her villainry with heavy spider imagery. Jason P, Natalie N. |

Just an observer... but is the NN rating only reserved for those contestants who murder somebody on-screen and proceed to consume the dead body? If Nat
wasn't NN this episode, then I don't know who in the history of the show could have been.

Also, NN is the opposite of PP, up to now, there have only been to cases of PP, Steph in Palai and Jonathan in Micronesia, you can compare PP to regular P and realize that PP isn't a "positive" rating, it's a "saint" rating, same way for NN, NN isn't just "bad", it's "evil", "malicious", and Natalie wasn't that bad, she was just OTT. |

Jeff: She recruited everyone except James, Amanda and Erik. …and took Ozzy completely by surprise.
Erik: I understand why it happened .cut. (will you?) think about it like a blind side. It only works if it's air tight and obviously like I felt obligated to Ozzy so I would have told him. I probably would have told him and I think you guys DID THE RIGHT Decision for to pull that off.
James: I like it. It's a good move for everybody.
Amanda: Game on…bring it on. Like let's do this.
First of all the editors gave Parvati the credit for ousting Ozzy. Then in the first 2 minutes they put a POSITIVE spin in the editing on Ozzy getting voted out. First by showing Erik saying that it was the "right decision". Then they show us James saying "I like it. It's a good move for everybody." And that was followed by Amanda saying "Bring it on. Like let's do this."
It was the "editors intent" to edit "Parvati's" move in ousting Ozzy as positive…in the first 2 minutes of the episode!

There's no way Parvati was P.
Between James outing her and describing her as selfish and greedy, Parvati and Alexis laughing about what they are going to do to Jason, talking about sucking the juice out of the guys like a spider, there's NO way in hell Parvati could even be construed as slightly positive. There's a hierarchy of N/P for the females this past episode. From most N to P 1. Natalie-although she was almost simplified N because it was almost too acted out 2. Parvati-although, because of her directions, she is in close contention with Natalie 3. Alexis-the laughing and sneering, although she was quiet 4. Cirie-could be in close contention with Alexis, it's close 5. Amanda-the only positive one, although even she made a sneer when Jason was booted It was simple: girls bad, boys good; with Amanda in the middle because of what happened to Ozzy But it's the most insane thing in the world on Edgic to consider Parvati even close to being P. There was NOTHING P about her except her name. |

Parvati ate the apple, was selfish. (although, I'll say they presented her in a more conflicted way- like she's having a battle with herself about
what is right and wrong and feeling badly) -editing her to be ruthless but having guilt about it. It seems like damage control so there can be a happy ending
on this if she wins -unlike smirking smiles from Fairplay in Pearl Islands.

And the "black widow brigade", led by ruthless Parvati and Natalie, was meant to be seen as N. It's CPN, that's something a winner can get, so I don't get why all the Parvati supporters are so adamant about this. She's N, and obviously the winner. |

TID, you can not rate someone negative by association. The editors put a positive spin on Ozzy's ouster. You may not like her but the intent of the editor's was a positive one. The black widow brigade was editted negatively in comparison to their three positive victims, and Parvati was the second worst.

I see the P for Parvati, actually. There was that early confessional when she was giggling about the mess she'd made for herself but then she went and
actually did real damage control. She took the heat from James, and even told him her F3 plans are to be with 2 other girls, not with him. She also made a good
apology to Amanda.
It's fairly rare in reality TV that a player will betray an alliance and then take the heat fairly and squarely from the betrayed allies. The problem for James with his whining is just that - it comes across as whining about Parvati being selfish when hello? This game is all about making the best for yourself. And James didn't want to make any moves that would really help him or his game. He just wanted to write Parvati's name down but do nothing else with it. He didn't want to think through what needed to be done. If anyone could have convinced Jason to play his idol, it was James. Why did James take Amanda's word for it that there were no avenues? That is what makes James' criticisms of Parvati lose much of their power to convey negative SPV on her. He looks a fool, even though he's safe one more week. If he's that upset with Parvati, then form a new alliance and get her out. He doesn't, so he ends up looking negative for that portion of the program. In my view, James is like the balance of the eps - he often has had a funny comment or two, balanced with a negative comment about or towards someone. He could STILL end up voting for Parvati at the end, despite all this doubt they've thrown at us. I think Ozzy is the only one of her allies who will hold a grudge for a long time (truly making him the second coming of Lex van der Sploog.) LOVE YOUR PICTORIAL, WARRIOR! |

Oh and Amanda saying she is still mad at Parvati, but isn't going to tell her, doesn't really have any tone for Parvati. It kind of looks dumb at first for Amanda to play-act, but then it makes sense. In the process of doing that emotional calculation, the tone melts. You just think, okay, everyone is fine. It's later when Amanda is bemoaning lack of avenues to James, that Amanda looks the idiot, and in my view incurs Neg. You have to hide your annoyance, but if you're that annoyed, do something about it. |
