People win Idol for many different reasons including sex appeal, performing styles, etc. I think Taylor would have beat Archie S5 and I'm not 100% sure about Jordin v. Archie in S6. The best vocalist doesn't always win this thing you know.

Archie got a lot of hate his season and I think he would have had the same problem other seasons. Second place is perfect for him. If he'd beaten Cook, the hate would have been intense.

I think Archie would have easily beat Jordin.

I guess we will have to wait for American Idol: All-Stars to find out!

Archie would have done fine last year, but he is too young to have competed in season 5 (which doesn't mean we can't imagine what an imaginary matchup against Taylor might have been like, of course). Even if he had been old enough, I don't think he would have been much more successful than the 5th season contestant he most resembles, Wil Makar. Aside from Kevin Covais, the 5th season finalists were a VERY strong group. I even liked the ones most sucksters didn't care for, like Ace Young and Lisa Tucker (when I saw the finalists in concert, Ace and Chris Daughtry were the two most popular performers). Look at Gina Glocksen--she couldn't even make the semis in season 5 but she tried again the next year when the competition was much weaker and finished 9th.

June 30 - Blog Entry From David

Hey guys!

Tomorrow's our first show!! I have to admit I'm a little nervous, but I'm way excited at the same time. We've been having rehearsals each day just getting ready for the big day, and everyone sounds great. Last night after the rehearsal Kristy Lee, Chikezie, Cook, Jason and his family, Carly and I went go karting and it was sooo much fun lol. At first I was kinda like eh, I don't know if I should go or not, I should get some rest and stuff. But Kristy Lee pushed me into going and now I want to go again.

Also on Sunday my cousin and his wife came up to visit, which was cool to see because they've both been in the military and busy. We were able to just hang out for a little bit and went to church. Anyway that's all for now.

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow at the show!

July 2 - First Tour Show Blog!!
Current mood: excited

Hi Everybody,

So the first show was pretty much AMAZING! I couldn't believe how much energy you could feel from the crowd. I have to admit I was a little nervous backstage haha, but wow! It was just so much fun to see everyone cheering and the support that came. The people in Arizona were just a neat group and so welcoming. If you guys are going then I can't wait for you to see the show! It's definitely an awesome experience. I'm looking forward to improving as we get more comfortable with each show too lol. Hopefully our voices will all hold up well throughout the tour.

Tonight we go to San Diego where I first auditioned for AI, so if you're going I hope you have a great time!

*gasp!* Check out the newest clips of 'David Archuleta' on youtube and some people have posted interview videos and songs from the tour!! =D I haven't been so happy in a long time! =)

I wish I could go to the Toronto concert seeing how many autographs and such the idols are handing out too...

Archie is so genuine in that interview. He's an awkward, sweet, happy 17 year old kid - not jaded or cynical like so many teens.

Sorry, I'm in total obsessive mode right now out of sheer excitement, but according to wikipedia, the songs he'll be singing / sang already are:

David Archuleta: "Angels" (Robbie Williams), "Apologize" (OneRepublic), "Stand by Me" (Ben E. King)/"Beautiful Girls" (Sean Kingston), "Imagine (song)" (The Beatles)

So far on youtube, I've watched Angels, Apologize and Stand by Me, which were all amazing... Angels is my favourite Archie performance and hearing him sing the complete version of Apologize was incredible. There's also clips of him singing a new song called 'When you say you love me'
