While reading it you can just about see the dollar signs popping up in Scott Smith's eyes as he thinks of the movie deal to come.

I won't see the movie because the book pissed me off so much. It was an extremely well-written, highbrow version of a dimwitted teen slasher/horror movie
script.

I read it and liked it. The ending kinda pissed me off though

The ending is apparently different in the movie. I went and saw it last night. Not too bad.

And Katja, they've changed several things from the novel to the film, so it won't be entirely ruined for you. That is exactly what will bother me if I finish the book first - how it's been changed. I might watch it this weekend, and then I can finish the book. |

good for a horror movie.
like a dumbed down version of the descent (which i consider one of the best horror movies of at least the past 10 years) i kept wondering what jena malone was doing in a movie like this though. |

I liked it. It was a good way to spend an afternoon. It was genuinly creepy and disturbing ,and the acting wasn't half bad I haven't The Descent. Is it
better?

By changing the ending, they've made it into exactly what the characters were making fun of in the book and if it were turned into a movie. (Amy, heroine;
Stacy, badgirl; Eric, comic relief, Jeff the hero) -ugh, I liked the book much better. (but then again, I can't stand Jenna Mallone)

Um, Stacy wasn't the bad girl and Eric wasn't comic relief. I thought it was a well done movie, haven't read the book yet though.

The guy for our school paper who went to an advanced screening gave it an F and said it was so comically bad people were laughing at it in the theatre.

khnum wrote: In the book they weren't, but saying that was the perception and Stacy got upset. And that she would have to die because that's what happens in movies- and Jeff would save Amy, and Eric would be the one who goes first because that's what happens in movies. This is when they're downing the tequila and Jeff is away. In the book the whole order of who survives is reversed more or less. |

The best script that has never been used is Alien 3 when they did not come up with stupid prison colony idea and focus on politic and economic aspect of
corporation of company attempting to exploit aliens. Only the android and sole survivor (not Ripley or the girl) attempt to stop them on their own.

I just saw this on Cinemax and I pooped myself a little. It really had some moments, especially with those vines wriggling around under the skin of the sexy
blonde. I wish they would've expanded a bit on what happens to the world once the other girl escapes. Does the world get infected? Are we all doomed to die
by creeping vines that scream?

This movie scared the shit out of me. I moved all my plants out by my back door because I didn't want them killin' me. The next morning I saw that dumb
bitch Shawanda's bigass dog pissin' all over them! I hate that fuckin' dog! She needs to put that thing on a damn leash!

In reading through this thread, I did like 'The Ruins.'
'The Strangers' was godawful, other than Liv Tyler tripping on her face in the yard. 'The Descent' truly is the best horror film in the past ten years. |

I thought it was kinda lame, though not completely horrible. Like many recent horror flicks, they were just looking for excuses to bring in some gore and
disturbing moments. The leg chopping scene is a cheap way of grossing out the audience, you could have that in almost any movie.
I also wanted to know what the hell was up with that place. Were those mutant plants? Possessed plants or what? |
