If you really want to know what its about you can read the book by Scott Smith. He is also the author of A Simple Plan. The book was great, fast paced, and
suspenseful. I hope the movie sticks to the original ending and keeps the characters the same, then it has a chance of being amazing.

I am reading wiki and I guess it's telling me about the book and it's events, so creepy!

I have no comment as I can't see either of the girl's trailers very well.

Not a monster in the ruins, oh no, anything but a monster in the ruins

and I hope it doesn't eat the pretty teenage pals who are just out looking for a good time.

It'll probably continue the chain of craptacular recent horror movies (i.e Turitas, the messengers, boogeyman, the hitcher....)

I've read both "A Simple Pan" and "The Ruins".
A Simple Plan was spellbinding. Great powerful stuff. The Ruins was very good. But I suspect they will "hollywood-ize" the ending. Great book to read just before your Mexican winter getaway trip. |

Really? I didn't like "The Ruins" at all. Not at all. But then I'm not a fan of those types of books generally. "A Simple Plan" was
a good book but made me want to shoot myself.

The monster is never really shown, but crawls out of the sea to attack the ruins. large maggot-type things fall off the monster and attack people.
It's all done like The Blair Witch Project, like the actors are recording the movie on shakey-cams...

The book is great but there are parts that I just can't see making it over to the movie without making the movie cheesy.

The Ruins sucked! I read it on the plane ride home from Punta Cana. I thought it was weak, sorry.
It's about a giant Mexican plant that picks people off one at a time, IIRC. |

The book was great; therefore, Hollywood will undoubtedly fuck up the whole thing.
After finishing it, I would get a little creeped out walking the dog near the forest preserves by my house ... not really, but in a fun way. |

A giant Mexican plant that picks people off?
We call that "Marijuana" in Virginia. Hey, we can type "giant" again? I love Matt. Seattle is my master now. |

It also talks, which would be cheesy.

We gotta find some other animal or plant that can attack and kill mactors.
Maybe a flick 'bout killer dragonflies can come next. Yammark!! |

They took out the whole "plant talking" detail because they knew it wouldn't really translate well on screen. As for the book, it's one of my
favorites.
Test screening reports for the movie have been extremely positive, and those given sneak peeks at early footage have described it as "bordering incredible." The movie has some stellar acting, as well as incredible gore. And it should satisy the gaes as well - man ass! |
