Desmond Hume
Status: Alive and coming back to shore with the news "Not Penny's Boat"

Desmond showed up in Jack's flashback in the beginning of season 2, and I thought he looked like he has potential but I never thought he'd become such a major character. Basically, I thought he'd at best be another Danielle, showing up once in awhile for an adventure and kicking some ass. When he came back though he instantly launched himself into the storyline, coming right into the whole Charlie and Eko vs. Locke conflict. Then in season three he became the harbinger of terrible news, Charlie shall be kicking that bucket there. So, his storyline kind of centered around that and of course the possible coming to the Island of Penny. I was actually pretty disappointed with the fact that his storyline was so centered on basically another character, though his flashbacks were very interesting. I have to wonder what is next for our Scottish friend now that Charlie is dead. Revival of his semi-romance with Claire, possibly with a triangle with Hurley? Also, will we find out what he did during his military days that was so terrible? Will he become not a coward anymore (I kind of feel he already did that in the scene we see above but nonetheless they probably aren't done with the exploration of his primary fault). I really hope they do some really good stuff with him next season...
