Wow... I'm impressed by Fish - definitely biggest tennis shock in a long time for me.

Hopefully this wasn't a one time thing from Fish and he turns his career around he is far too talented to continue having a journeyman career that hovers
in and out of the challengers system. It also looks like we are gonna see Djokovic move up to #1 sometime this year because Federer and Nadal have a boatload
of points to Defend btwn the time the Clay Court Masters Series begin and Wimbledon ends.

I thought about the theme of Federer's points, too... if he doesn't start winning again, yep - he'll drop
BIG time in points with non-defense efforts for his currently-held titles. I think that it's GREAT having the three of them battling at the top, now.
Today's results in the FINALS at Indian Wells: (Man, Mardy made it a MUCH closer match than I thought he would!!) Sunday, March 23, 2008 ATP Main Draw Singles - Final
WTA Main Draw Singles - Final
ETA: the Women's Doubles final yesterday was a pretty good match, too!! Yan / Zheng have made a name for themselves on the doubles circuit. WTA Main Draw Doubles - Final D Safina (RUS) / E Vesnina (RUS) d [3] Z Yan (CHN) / J Zheng (CHN) 61 16 10-8 Ericsson - Miami starts this week!! It should be yet another fantastic draw, for both the guys and women. Re: Mardy - yep, he's not doing bad having this woman as his g/f!

I'd never heard of this fish dude before this tournament and I watch quite a bit of tennis! he's okay, but from what I saw, his serve is what got him
that far.

Fish is an Edina boy.
I could have watched him in the finals of the Olympic Tennis tournament in Athens, but I didn't want to pay a hundred bucks for first tier seat. How cheap is that? |

Youzhny cuts his head with his racquet in frustration.

That's hilarious!! The best part might've been when Almagro came over to him as he was getting treatment... "Dude, what're you doing?!?"
Oh, and Mikhail WON! "The 11th-ranked Youzhny went on to win in a third-set tiebreaker and didn't require stitches. He lost in the next round." The Men's bracket is shaping up rather nicely - well, except that Djoko went out in the first freakin' round!! I dislike the organization scheduling any of the bigger tournaments back-to-back. |

OK - it's now at the point where it can reasonably be presumed that something is clearly not the same with him
this year... as Federer loses AGAIN!!
Roddick improves career record vs. Federer to 2-15 KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. -- Andy Roddick ended a streak of 11 consecutive losses to Roger Federer on Thursday at the Sony Ericsson Open. Dominating with his serve, Roddick took advantage of Federer's suddenly shaky play down the stretch to win 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Roddick improved to 2-15 against his nemesis. "I came in knowing that nobody has beaten me 12 times in a row," Roddick told the delighted capacity crowd afterward. "So I had that on my side." Serving at 3-3, 0-30 in the final set, Roddick won the next 11 points, five of them thanks to unforced errors by Federer. The top-ranked Federer was broken for the only time at love to fall behind 5-3. Roddick closed out the victory with a 140-mph service winner. Roddick will next play No. 4 Nikolay Davydenko, who advanced to the men's semifinals by beating Janko Tipsarevic 6-2, 6-1. |

Damn - I love me some Tipsy. And damn if I don't hate Davydenko.

Is Davydenko the one that was betting on his own matches? I can't keep the Russians straight

Davy's the one who was investigated for betting, yes.
Fed and Tipsy were in the same half - had they both won, it would've been a rematch!! I was soooooo hoping that was going to be the case. It'll be Jankovic vs. S. Williams in the women's final. |

Exactly; if they've played in the final of the prior tournament, they're not as fresh as most everyone else is in the next tournament.
The worst of all of the majors would be how ridiculously close together Roland Garros and Wimbledon are. |
