Baghdatis is frustrating to watch in this match. There's flashes of brilliance followed by just lazy-looking play. |

I met Bud Collins at a tournament that I was the hitting partner of several pros. That was pretty sweet.
And Vic Braden graduated from my high school. |

Awww Driv, that's still good!
I've played tennis for 27 of my 30 years...grew up playing National Junior tournaments so I ran into a LOT of peeps. Ended up going to college instead of trying my luck on the lowest tier of the tour. Probably was the right decision. |

OK... you guys have fun tonight. Early meeting tomorrow for me, so I'm probably outta here. Remember what's on tap for tomorrow, though... Linds vs. MaSha The only problem is... it'll surely be a prime-time match, so I'm guessing it'll start at 7 PM local time... which'll be 2 AM Central for me, here... even worse for any of you who might be in the Eastern time zone. I hope that the match lives up to its expectations. Tournament organizers need to have something in play re: the draw to prevent situations like this, when an obviously good player is simply down in the rankings because they've taken some time away from the game. I feel that they should be placed into a slot where they would potentially meet a Top 9-16 player in the 3rd round. Having these two women meet in the 2nd round is ridiculous. ETA: WTF?!?? The timestamps of the last 3 posts all have 3 PM! *wonders* ETA2: And the YEARS digits are screwy, too! Oh, well... a mystery!! *L* It happened in at least one other thread, but seems to have gotten fixed. No biggie.  G'nite!

Atypical I disagree that is really the only thing that keeps the womens side of the draw interesting the 1st week since there is such a huge gap in talent
usually btwn the top womens players and their early round opponents.
