Emotional, indeed. One could tell that she was on the verge of crying during her post-match interview.
The 16-year-old Aussie, Tomic, finishes the night on Laver - ha, the kid's got a cute little cheering section!  How old are these
females - early 20's? (Late-teens and 20's look about the same when you get to be my age...)
Ha... a challenge (correct) on the third point of the match - I'm pretty sure I've never seen one made THAT early before. Ha - ANOTHER challenge (this time incorrect) on the 7th point! SChick, turn out the lights if you're the last one standin'... g'night, y'all.

Daniela better pick her game up in the next round. Cornet is playing some damn good tennis at this tournament.
I don't think you can base how Jelena will do on this match. She has one of these matches nearly every slam she plays in. It's more shocking (to me) that the match didn't go three sets. Remember her first round win last year? It was a 12-10 in the third win over a Swede. I'm rooting for either Jankovic or Safina to take the title. Great win for Dokic. But I doubt she'll get by Wozniaki in the next round. Still, great result so far. Federer vs. Safin should be a great third round match (go, Roger!). |

So many hard 3rd Round matches and i dont know who i want to win out of Hantuchova and Cornet! I was at Cornets Match yesterday and everyone was calling her
Cornetto and she started to laugh so i find her to be very calm when she plays against Daniela.

Yeah, you do NOT want to be getting points at this stage - I'll enter them only when a person's gotten the boot from a tourney. I wonder if PJ saw the pathetic result for his girl, today... Man!! What a time for all the feeds to be dead!! Ljubicic - Tsonga are tied at a set apiece, each having won one via tiebreak!! ETA: The feed RETURNS!!
Good gawd, guys - is ANYONE else watching this?!?? Through 3 sets, this is the match of the tournament thus far!! It's like two old warhorses out there battling... 'quiet intensity'!!! Ljubo just had triple set point in the tiebreak in the 3rd, two of those points on his serve... and pissed them away!! Tsonga leads Ljubicic, 2-1: 6-7(4), 7-6(8), 7-6(7)!!! ETA: And it all disappears for Ljubo in the 4th, as he gets broken twice, J-W T winning it, 6-2. Very good match, nonetheless!

I would say Ana losing as the #1 seed/player in the world in the 2nd round of the US open was bigger, but that it was an upset.
I fell asleep because that match was so boring in the beginning. Poor Venus, she's the last person I expected an upset from with the way she's been playing. Serena, I definitely expected from. Bitch needs to get her ass in gear. She got away with murder today. Aussie Opens just aren't Venus' thing I guess. Even though she lost, she still won more points, wish she was more selective with when she won (like on match point) but oh well I guess. Serena can take a lesson from her sister and make sure she applies herself like she did at Wimbledon and The US open last year, or she's heading out very shortly. |
