If you'd like to talk about Tennis with others in a friendly environment which doesn't have any of the b/s into which this thread has unfortunately devolved, PM me. The Australian Open started today. The #3 Women's seed, Jelena Jankovic, a moment ago just barely won in the 1st Round battle of the DAY... 12-10 in the 3rd set, having saved three match points, as I recall. My friend in Australia called me last night to tell me it was 95 degrees down there... I've played matches like that Jankovic match - you just have nothing left into you and hope for the best... I was enjoying watching Lindsay Davenport as well - hope she can make a good comeback. I just don't want a Williams to win.

(It's the radio show I'm on during the Australian football season during their winter- our summer- from April until September.) I used to go to the Open at least four times each year in the 90s and in 2000. It's a fantastic sporting event to watch live. Centre Court tickets were relatively inexpensive during the first week. The outside court where Anna Kournikova sometimes played was always packed.

Johansson's not a simple 1st Round draw. Men's Draw If your broadband carrier has it, you can watch matches online at ESPN 360!!! YAAAAAY!! BellSouth (which I USED to be on) did NOT carry it... but AT&T (which I'm on now) DOES carry it!! It's kick ass - you can select which match, of the ones being played upon the major courts, you wish to watch. ESPN360 - LIVE play And the link to the scoreboard: Scores / Matches in Progress It's always WAY too hot down there this time of year, Undies - too hot to be playing much of the time. I've heard that they're going to construct some more indoor facilities, if I'm remembering correctly, over the next few years. They NEED to, that's for sure. Linds is in a battle herself right now... down a service break in the 3rd. If she wins she'll likely face Sharapova in the 2nd Round. And ditto on not being a fan of the Williams sisters.

I know it's hot down there right now - even in Canberra, where the man lives, it was 95 degrees yesterday. It's only 75 in Melbourne right now, which is surprising. Yay Lindsay!!!!

Patty Schneeeeeeeeeeedah is always a spoiler in these things. Never wins but sometimes takes out some top rated players, only to lose before getting to the finals.
