Personally, I really like the format we're in already...I loved the CBS.com poll, which is why it sucked they got rid of it, so I'm running it here. Plus, I really don't think "strategic" voting is really a big factor. And rating people that you are indifferent to reflects how sucks feels about that particular castaway, so it's fair game I think.

But we're done with Micronesia for now. My thoughts were to just do an all seasons poll, so I'd have a list of all the castaways in order of popularity in a data-base type thing. So we'd do seasons 1-16 now (2 seasons per week). Then with Gabon for example, I'll have the regular poll running, and let the all seasons one just go onto page like 15 or whatever, but after the season is over, and S18 is about to begin, I'll have the Gabon people rated for the database.

^About that though it wouldn't be as fun doing an all seasons poll since we didn't do it when the show was airing. Like for Palau, Steph might still have a low popularity because of Guatemala.

Definitely see your concern. Though I ran one after Vanuatu (all data has been lost though) and it went fine. But I will make it clear that you should rate people based on their first appearance. It kills me, but I have to give Alicia a high score in Australia. It won't be 100% accurate for when the show aired, but IMO, it's better than nothing.

It's stupid if someone like Chad wins the S13 poll because he generates mildly positive indifference, and all the real favorites have their lovers and haters. The 1-10 ranking is meaningless for players like Mariano or Steph (Parvati tends that way too), because they are widely LOVED AND HATED, AND THE 1-10 FORMAT CANNOT DISTNGUISH THAT FROM INDIFFERENCE.

Well, if you've seen most people's rankings on this site, "indifferent" castaways generally get a very low score. Look at Mary or Alexis just this past season. And we're an intelligent community, we can tell who is interesting and who is not. If you really wanted, you could even take the "interesting" people and post the list without the "indifferent" people.

But the 0-10 scale can allow you to see how much a polarizing contestant is loved or hated. Assuming they'd generally get a 0 or a 10, it's easy to end the debate on if there's more haters or lovers etc.

I just strongly prefer this format. I really didn't like the poll they used for S11-S14 on CBS.com, which is to name your favourites, and I know a lot of people here hated that format to.
