Once again, the idea that Aras "held Casaya together" is manufactured crap that makes no sense at all.

I wouldn't say that he " held the tribe together," but he got along very well with everyone on the tribe except Bruce and maybe Melinda, who
wasn't around long enough to make a difference anyway. He was setting challenge strategey for the tribe when they started winning, and was their best
athlete and all-around challenge competitor. He was pretty much the tribe's leader, as Shane, who formed the Casaya 4, was far too unstable to do so.

See I think Aras is very underated and I actually like him loads
(just check him out in this vid promoting his hat company! Adorable! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=U7GKkUxoV7o) and yes he was instrumental in keeping Casaya together before the merge, was a great competitor, had good social game and was a pretty decent strategist, but lets not forget that Cirie was the best liked, most trusted member of Casaya with great bonds with Danielle, Aras, Shane, Bruce and even Courtney. She wasn't their leader, but she certainly did her part in holding that tribe together too, albiet in a different way. And Shane, though eventually going crazy, was their initial leader. So lets not give Aras allll the credit. |

I never see them give specific examples of anything he did that was the least bit impressive, other than threaten Danielle at the end. You expect me to believe he let Terry win all those immunities? Name one challenge Aras threw and provide some corroboration for it. If he wanted Terry to keep winning, why didn't he eat the burgers like everybody else? Why did he say "My ego has been crushed" at the end, if having Terry beat him in every challenge was part of his strategy? None of it makes any sense to me. We should praise him for "holding Casaya together?" They had a majority at the merge. What were they going to do, flip over to La Mina and be at the bottom of Terry's alliance? That would have made no sense, and Aras lucked out that the girls outmaneuvered him to boot turncoat-in-waiting Bobdawg. He also lucked out that Bruce, whom he had insulted and transparently patronized, had a timely medical emergency just as he was considering defecting (according to him, anyway). The fact that the 6 Casayas voted together for the first three post-merge boots had more to do with a simple numbers game than any real solidarity, or anything that Aras did. |

Pretty much. Aras is incredibly overrated in that area. The only challege that Aras ever threw was that endurance challenge. The fricking yoga master was the
second one to drop out!

I actually agree that the only challenge Aras threw was the first individual one, but he wasn't really on La Mina's radar then(remember they voted for
Shane at that TC). He might have thrown the F9 challenge, but I doubt it. It was down to him, Shane and Austin, and those two were skinnier than him so they
got through the fence first. I also agree that his biggest mistake was trying to keep BobDawg instead of Bruce. If I were to make a winners ranking(I
haven't) then I'd have to rank him in the upper middle. I'd also say he's 5th most likely to go deep into the game(and not just make the merge)
of the winners( after Todd, Amber, Danni and Chris) and 2nd most likely to make the merge after Tom. I do think he gets a raw deal and is generally underrated
though.

CSCin3D wrote: Well how about him talking Shane back in the game when he had already decided to quit?!? Not all winners could do that, they'd just let a quitter quit and try to work with the others. He clearly thought he should keep his alliance together as long as possible, which was not an easy quest. Danielle and Courtney fought with Shane a lot early in the game, and Aras was the link between them. So he must've at least done something in that area. SwineForkbeard wrote:Well, in his post-game interviews he clearly stated he was losing to keep Terry winning and at the F6 TC he said in front of everyone that he thought he was Casaya's only chance of ever beating Terry ( which implies he has now realized he should keep Terry in the game as long as possible ). Call me biased, but those are good enough reasons for me to believe he actually did this. SwineForkbeard wrote:Well, obviously, he had to maintain his "Golden boy" -appearance in front of the jury. Aras, like most of the other winners, knew very well there were gonna be challenges that could possible harm a player's social game if he played it wrong. So of course he should take part in every challenge of that kind, just like he shouldn't hurt any Casaya too much in challenges like the F7 RC. And do you think Terry would've voted for Aras if he openly stated "I was losing to you all the time". SwineForkbeard wrote:Like that hasn't happened before? Even if they didn't flip at the first post-merge TC, there was still the possibility it would happen within the first three tribal council, when it was Aras who would go. But they actually pagonged all the way, and that can't be said about many tribes. And it can't be done if there's nobody to keep the things together, and this time it was the alliance of Aras and Cirie. It doesn't help if all the players have solidarity for tribe if a powerful player decides to swap and there's no-one to stop him/her. |

nordicsurvivor wrote: What I seem to recall is that Shane had asked them to vote him off, and they weren't going to. He was more like Shawna than Osten. I could be wrong,
but I don't remember Shane ever saying he would lay his torch down, so whether he left was entirely up to his alliance.
Well, in his post-game interviews he clearly stated he was losing to keep Terry winning and at the F6 TC he said in front of everyone that he thought he was Casaya's only chance of ever beating Terry ( which implies he has now realized he should keep Terry in the game as long as possible ).It doesn't imply that at all. He was stating the obvious: that if they voted him out, Terry's chances of winning the rest of the challenges would go up, which they didn't want to happen. I have seen no evidence that Aras actually tried to keep Terry in the game, even though Terry's immunity streak ironically helped him. Throwing challenges would have made no sense, because if Terry was unable to win a challenge, it would have been imperative for Aras to win it instead. Aras had more to lose from Terry's streak being broken than Terry did, and I have a hard time believing he had enough faith in Terry's invincibility to lose on purpose. So I'm sceptical even if Aras claimed to have let Terry win after the fact (you've provided no links to these interviews, so as far as I'm concerned, it's hearsay). Well, obviously, he had to maintain his "Golden boy" -appearance in front of the jury. Aras, like most of the other winners, knew very well there were gonna be challenges that could possible harm a player's social game if he played it wrong. If you're just speculating and making random guesses to explain Aras's actions, don't expect to change my mind without any corroborating evidence. You're telling me Aras passed up a meal just to lose a challenge on purpose, thinking the jury would reward him for it? Then why didn't he mention the fact that he participated and Danielle chose to eat? Danielle stupidly brought it up, and unless the footage was excised, Aras made no attempt to use it to his advantage. And do you think Terry would've voted for Aras if he openly stated "I was losing to you all the time".Maybe not, but Aras said "My ego has been crushed" to the camera, not to Terry. If he wasn't trying to win, there was no reason for Terry's dominance to crush his ego. If anything, he should have gloated about how his strategy of riding Terry's immunity streak worked perfectly. Like that hasn't happened before? Even if they didn't flip at the first post-merge TC, there was still the possibility it would happen within the first three tribal council, when it was Aras who would go.Whether it's happened in the past is irrelevant, since it involved factors and circumstances that didn't necessarily apply to the season we're talking about. The only issue is whether anybody on Casaya was willing to consider that option, and what, if anything, Aras did to deter them. If you can't give specific examples, it's pointless to say something to the effect of "Nobody flipped, so it must have been because of something Aras did, even if we don't know what it was." |

The biggest thing I will credit Aras is for the reward challenge Q&A where Cirie won and took ALL the heat. He was smart enough to ensure it was Cirie who
won and he lost cause he knew he was going on the reward and Shane got pissed off at Cirie. That was genius on his part.

I still think that Aras should've given his F4 immunity to Cirie, so she would go to the next round, and if there was a tiebreaker, it'd be himself vs.
Danielle. Then at the final three, he would've outlasted Terry on the lilypads, and would've taken Cirie to the final 2, where it'd be closer, but
as much as I love Cirie, I think Aras would've still won with Austin, Courtney, Shane and Terry's votes.

^ What makes you think Cirie wouldn't just turn around and vote out Aras with Danielle and Terry? Yeah, she's a sweet lady, but she's playing for a
million dollars, and she would be a complete idiot to pass up the opportunity to take out one of the game's two huge threats. Even bigger of an idiot than
Aras would be to give up that immunity.

It would of been in Ciries interests to boot Aras at f4 if he did that,so I dont think Aras would do that. Again, Aras is not the idiot people like Pulau Tiga
make him out to be. Just because hes indifferent to Survivor itself doesnt mean hes not paying attention

NO WAY, Cirie's best chance was to keep Aras and have him take her. I am not so sure Danielle would have taken Cirie knowing how much she got along with
everyone versus Aras.

True, but Danielle would still have a better shot at Cirie then Terry. It would be the same situation as between taking terry or aras. Danielle was screwed

Cirie wouldn't have booted Aras, anyway. If she gets rid of Danielle, she's in a F3 with two guys who would both take her to the F2, and the guy she has the better shot at winning against also has the best shot at beating Terry in the challenge. If she gets rid of Aras, she's in a F3 where Terry doesn't take her to the F2 and where Terry is even more likely to win the challenge. It's a no-brainer for her. |

PT,are you suggesting that Aras is some kind of incompetent idiot? I highly doubt, hell, I find it unfathomable that he planned to lose to Cirie. Based on
hisinterview that he might lose, that could have been spec on his part. Theres nothing wrong with trying to balance stratagy and personal integrity, which is
what Aras tried to do. Aras had a plan to beat Cirie, and thats that
