And she would have gotten away with, too, if it wasn't for those meddling kids...

What a messy situation. Good thing custodial services are here to help with clean-up.

I thought Denise's story sorta reeked of bullshit at the time. I'm not entirely convinced of the press release, but sounds a helluva lot more plausible
to me than Denise's story.
Put a stop payment on that cheque. |

All this drama over a low paying janitorial position.

Todd said he wasn't allowed to tell his job that he was going on Survivor. So how would the school know where Denise was going?

I'm assuming it's "how" you tell them. Maybe Denise said she needed the time off for a "once in a lifetime opportunity" versus just
saying she was going to be on Survivor. I wonder also if certain bosses/companies "need" to know specifically, CBS can give them a confidentiality
agreement.
I'm just guessing here. |

I knew someone who had an uncle who was a cameraman on the show and he said that you can tell your employee in order to gain time off but that upon your return
you cannot discuss the show or the results until its aired.
Most employers need to know why you want the time off and to say vaguely, "I have this opportunity to go to Micronesia for 39 days and possibly win a million dollars, wink wink" is sufficient. |

Well I think it's one of those deals if someone's clearly a big enough Survivor fan that if they disappear it becomes apparent. Also she may have
mentioned she was trying out, I'm sure people do that all the time. It's likely a case of 2+2 = 4 more than anything else.

I'm amused that the school district thinks the a move from cafeteria worker to janitor is considered a promotion.
At any rate, Denise never said she was demoted, but the school district is claiming that she did. I think people just thought she said she was demoted. My impression was that Denise was whining about having to work nights because she was a distraction to the kids, not about scrubbing toilets...although that was a nice way for her to garner more sympathy. So when she said she didn't get her job back...I think she was referring to her daytime position, rather than the actual job duties. So, both stories may be true...she may have been "promoted" prior to her leaving, but it was working the day shift...and upon her return, the kids were too distracted and they moved her to nights instead. There's just something really not sitting right with me about the school district's press release...and I'm not even a Denise fan. Plus, it just seems VERY unlike Mark Burnett to just give someone money on the spot like that. |

It was a promotion Denise, I mean TM as it was from Part Time to FULL time and therefore on the public employees pay scale she received a raise in hourly
pay... and benefits... and when she returned to cleaning the cans the kids were hyper and the school asked her to work evenings.. which she was doing but being
TM, I mean Denise, complaining about it regardless.
And again, school had to do damage control and they are a public facility with kids' parents running amok that they send their kid to heartless school firing the poor "lunch lady" so good for them to right that wrong. And Mark Burnett is a publicity seeking hound.. but it bodes well for you TM to definitely secure a spot on the next show. I don't know however how they will fit all the slash/jobs/knowledge that you have on the screen... Public school - there should be school board minutes about the change in job status somewhere on-line, no?
