I just signed up for my 401(k) YAY, but with this market I'm pretty sure I'll be fucked. I chose the profile with intermediate to high risk (but
I'll be saving for 40 years) so we'll see.

Well....get a 401k going anyway.
It's gonna suck for a while but at least the money will start accumulating. Unfortunately, 401k's are losing their value just like every other investment. |

Did all that cum youve swilled rot your brain?? You can make a ton of money shorting a down market. But you probably dont have enough money to qualify to
invest in hedge funds.

I was thinking this morning about those buffoons who stand around clapping when some knob opens/closes trading (I don't know which). Is that really
something they get paid to do? Sorta like those reality show audience members for hire?

So I guess we can only not talk about the stock market when it's going down. Last couple days have been pretty
good, and I've been waiting for three days of positive closes before I'll declare the bear market over. We'll see what happens today.
Signs point to a negative open, but some of that is due to oil rebounding some because of events in Nigeria. However, Citi is announcing beating analyst predictions of losses (54 cents per share vs. 67 cents). This should help the market today. Though some of the cost savings were probably due to cost cutting, and selling their German interests recently. *Note* For full disclosure, I bought C stock last week, so I'm obviously hoping that it goes up. If today ends up positive, the beginning of next week will probably be negative (obviously), and the Dow may even go down past 11000 again. However, I don't think we'll see the Dow going past 10800-10700, and that will probably be the bottom for this downturn. That's assuming today ends up positive, and some unexpected big thing doesn't happen (like war with Iran, etc.) |
