Jeff Probst: <narration> Previously on Survivor… <The camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sky and night turns to day, and then cuts ahead to show Eliza and Tracy both sitting by the fire> Eliza: I think that we should seriously consider not feeding them, <The camera shows Alexis standing nearby> or else Aras is gonna keep winning. <A surprised Alexis now gasps dramatically> Jeff Probst: <narration> Things heated up in the tribe when Alexis overheard Eliza's comment about not feeding her competition… <The camera shows Alexis, Mary, and Aras talking on the beach> Alexis: Eliza just said they're not gonna give us anymore food. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as a surprised and concerned Mary looks up, and Aras asks "What?!"> Mary: <to Alexis> She really said that? <A view of both Alexis and Aras is then shown next> Jeff Probst: <narration> So they decided to hide the tribe's remaining rice and beans. <The camera now shows the three castaways walking in the jungle while carrying the bags of rice and beans> Aras: See if you can find a hole anywhere… <The camera zooms back in on Mary again> Mary - CONFESSIONAL: It's definitely not about making them go hungry as much as it is about trying to beat them to the punch and stay in control of the food situation. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a clip of Tracy putting $300 into Aras' saki bottle> Jeff Probst: <narration> At the Survivor Auction, the Survivors distributed their money to their tribemates, <A clip of Brooke placing $20 into Eliza's container is shown> and Brooke was sent to Exile Island when she ended up with the lowest amount of money… <Brooke is then shown> Brooke: Only 220, Jeff… <The camera fades out to show Brooke wading through the shallow waters> Brooke: <talking aloud> Maybe over there… <A faraway view of a rocky island is now shown> Jeff Probst: <narration> On Exile Island, Brooke found the hidden Immunity Idol. <An upbeat music now begins to play, as the camera shows a relieved Brooke pulling out a wrapped-up object> Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: Finding the hidden Immunity Idol could either be a hindrance or a huge blessing, <Brooke is shown unwrapping the hidden Immunity Idol> but to be honest, I'm pretty confident in Eliza, Tracy, and Mikey… <The camera shows Alexis and Tracy walking in the jungle> Jeff Probst: <narration> Before the Immunity Challenge, <Tracy is shown reaching into the treemail basket> Tracy established herself as a force to be reckoned with when she came up with a plan to keep Aras from walking away with the necklace for the third time… <Another view of Tracy is shown> Tracy - CONFESSIONAL: Treemail said in black-and-white, you know, "Have steady aim and take your best shot," so right away, we know you win by breaking all of your own targets first… <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Eliza, Tracy, and Mikey lying in the shelter together> Tracy: I think we should focus on one person, <The camera shows Eliza nodding> and fight four against one… <A close-up view of one of Tracy's yellow targets is shown, as a bullet shatters it> Jeff Probst: <narration> At the challenge, her plan was put into action, as Eliza, Brooke, <Mikey presses the trigger, as the bullet launches out of the rifle and fires through one of Tracy's tiles> and Mikey B helped propel Tracy to victory…. <The camera shows Aras turning his head> Jeff Probst: <shouting> With that, Tracy wins Immunity! <'Pretty Dreams' plays, as the camera shows Eliza, Brooke, and Mikey clapping excitedly, and then switches angles to show a stunned and uncomfortable Aras staring down at the ground and shaking his head> Jeff Probst: <narration> With Tribal Council looming, Aras knew he was on death row, <A view of several Rubak members talking by the fire is shown> but he made a last-ditch effort to stay by trying to convince Mikey B to blindside Brooke… <The camera shows Mikey and Aras in the hammock> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: He's tryin' to get in my head just to get me to think that Brooke's a bigger threat because she has the hidden Immunity… <Another close-up view of Aras is then shown> Aras: <to Mikey> I'll give you my word as a man that Alexis goes out fourth, <A prominent drumbeat is then heard, as the camera shows Alexis> it'll be you, me, and Mary going to the Final Three… Mikey: <to Aras> Me, you, and Mary? <Another close-up view of Aras is shown, as he nods> Aras: <to Mikey> And if you can get to the Final Two, man, you'll win hands-down. <'Tally the Vote' plays, as the camera fades into an aerial view of the Tribal Council village> Jeff Probst: <narration> But at Tribal Council… <The camera now focuses in on Jeff> Jeff Probst: Three votes Brooke; <short pause> three votes Aras. <Mikey is seen looking down at the ground> I'll read the last vote… <Jeff reaches back into the urn and pulls out of the deciding vote> Jeff Probst: <narration> Mikey B stayed true to his alliance of Tracy, Brooke, and Eliza… <Quick clips of the three castaways are shown, before Jeff unfolds the final vote> Jeff Probst: Thirteenth person voted out of Survivor: Micronesia - Fans vs. Favorites: <Rapid views of the anxious Rubak members are then shown, before Jeff reveals the deciding vote to the castaways> Aras. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows a sad-looking Mary> Jeff Probst: <narration> …and Alexis and Mary watched helplessly, as their ally, Aras, was sent home. <Aras is now shown placing his torch into the slot in front of Jeff> Jeff Probst: Aras, the tribe has spoken. <The camera shows Jeff snuffing out Aras' torch> Jeff Probst: <narration> Leaving Mikey B as the last man standing in the game. <The camera cuts back to Tracy, who brushes her hair back. Jeff is then shown with an amused look on his face> Jeff Probst: <narration> Six are left. <A wide view of the six remaining Rubak members is now shown> Who will be voted out tonight? <The camera shows the castaways grabbing their torches, and then zooms out to show them walking out of the Tribal Council village. The screen fades out> Opening Credits: 'Ancient Voices of Micronesia' begins to play, as the camera shows a color-enhanced clip of Palauan warriors striking each other with war clubs, before a traditional wooden mask flashes onto the screen for a quick second. The Survivor: Micronesia logo is then shown, before the camera fades out to show a war canoe being paddled by several Native men and women. The words "20 Castaways" now appear, as the camera shows a rapid clip of a beautiful channel of water, and then abruptly cuts ahead to show the Airai ("Fans") tribe's orange challenge flag. A clip of Kathy picking up a palm frond is shown, before the camera shows a medium-sized photo of her with smoke around it. Mary is now shown running during the first Immunity Challenge. She is then shown smiling in a brightly-colored photo with water running down the right side of it. The camera fades out to show Joel chopping into a coconut with the machete. A close-up view of the coconut is shown, before a color-enhanced photo of him flashes onto the screen and the camera quickly zooms in on it. Transitional footage of more Palauan Natives rowing a war canoe is now shown. The next castaway to be shown is Tracy. She is shown walking along the beach, and then smiling in a black-and-white photo in the middle in the screen. The camera now shows a close-up view of Mikey walking in front of his tribe's shelter. A large brightly colored photo of him is shown, before the camera fades into a clip of Chet dragging palm fronds along the beach and then cuts ahead to show a medium-sized photo of him. An aerial view of several beautiful tropical islands is shown, as the camera rapidly scrolls around them, and then shows a clip of a manta ray gliding through the shallow ocean waters. Erik is now shown swimming during a water challenge, as the camera fades out to show a color-enhanced photo of him with flames surrounding it and burning the bottom-right corner. Natalie can be seen high-fiving another tribe member before the camera shows a photo of her along the left side of the screen, as smoke billows around it. A clip of Alexis rowing her tribe's canoe is shown, before the camera shows a color-enhanced photo of her, and then fades out to show Jason sitting on the beach. The camera now shows a photo of him smiling, as flames flare up around it. The camera rapidly zooms in on it, and then cuts ahead to show a torch being snuffed out. The worlds "39 Days" appear, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the clouds shifting in the sky above several tropical islands. A Micronesian tribal carving is then shown, as the camera shows many quick views of it and then abruptly cuts ahead to show a close-up view of the Malakal ("Favorites") tribe's purple challenge flag. A clip of Ian walking through the shallow ocean waters is shown, before the camera fades out to show a photo of him with water running across it. Ami is then shown carrying a coconut, as she walks along the beach. The camera shows a faraway photo of her, and then quickly zooms in on it, before fading out to show several rapid clips from the first Immunity Challenge. Dave can be seen attempting to start a fire by frantically rubbing sticks together, before the camera shows him grinning in a close-up photo along the right side of the screen. A clip of Brooke standing on the beach with her hands on her hips is then shown. A color-enhanced photo of her then flashes onto the screen, as the camera shows an overhead view of Palau's Rock Islands and then cuts ahead to show a reef shark swimming towards the camera. The next castaway to be shown is Earl. He can be seen drinking from a coconut, and then smiling in a brightly colored photo in the middle of the screen. A close-up view of Terry swimming during a challenge is shown, before the camera fades into a black-and-white photo of him that is partially obscured by dark sand. A wide view of the ocean is shown. The camera shows a clip of Eliza riding in the cart during the first Immunity Challenge. The camera now shows her smiling widely in a large close-up photo with flames surrounding it. Ruth Marie is now shown walking in front of her tribe's shelter, before the camera shows a faraway photo of her with smoke billowing around it. Sherea is shown in a clip from the first Immunity Challenge, and then in a medium-sized color-enhanced photo. The last castaway to be shown is Aras. He can be seen hauling a long bamboo pole over his shoulders and then tossing it, before the camera fades into a brightly colored photo of him that is partially covered by water. The camera shows a darkened view of the spooky Tribal Council village and scrolls across many shadowy figures and burning torches. The silhouette of a castaway standing alone in front of a traditional 'bai' and holding up a torch triumphantly can be seen next, as the words "1 Survivor" appear on the screen. Many rapid and indistinguishable images continue to flash onto the screen, before the camera shows the Survivor: Micronesia logo carved into an oar and focuses on it for a few seconds. The theme music finishes, as the screen fades out.

A clip of several rats scurrying around a rotten coconut is then shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show the six Rubak members returning back to camp and then setting their torches up against the shelter> Mary: I need to go scream somewhere. I'll be back… <Eliza is shown making a face> Eliza: <to Mary> What?! <The infrared camera goes back to Mary> Mary: <to Eliza> I said, "I need to go scream." <The infrared camera now shows a clip of Mary walking further down the beach, and continues to focus on her for a few seconds> Mary - CONFESSIONAL: Aras got voted off tonight. You know, my entire game-strategy has basically imploded over the last six days between playing the idol and then losing a really close ally. <The infrared camera scrolls around an emotional Mary, who is standing on the beach> Mary: <talking aloud> Oh, Aras… <Another view of Mary is shown next> Mary - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I wanted to scream and wake myself up from a bad nightmare. <laughs> I definitely held back so much at Tribal Council. <The camera continues to show Mary> This game is literally driving me insane. <laughs> Either the game or the people; <short pause> I don't know, but I didn't think it would be this hard, emotionally. <An infrared view of the night sky is shown, before the camera fades out to show the other five Rubak members gathered around the shelter> Tracy: Thirty-three days for all of us… <The infrared camera turns back to Eliza> Eliza: That means I've spent 70 days on Survivor, <Brooke can be heard saying something inaudible> and Brooke's 71… <A close-up view of Alexis is shown next> Alexis: <to Eliza> Congratulations, girls. That's impressive! <laughs> <The camera now scrolls over to Brooke> I'm, like, seriously impressed by y'all. <Eliza is then shown again> Eliza: <to Mikey> And Mikey's the last man with five girls, <laughs> <The infrared camera shows a wide view of the five Rubak members, as Mikey puts his arms around Alexis and Brooke> and remember, at the beginning there was 20 of us… <The camera now shows a close-up view of a thoughtful-looking Tracy> Tracy: Seems like so long ago… <An eerie shift in the music now occurs, as the infrared camera shows a view of the full moon, and then fades out to show the Rubak tribe's fire flickering. Mikey can then be seen sitting down by the fire> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: Wow! Aras is gone; <short pause> um, I didn't turn on my alliance, and <long pause> being the only man left, it's all a matter of pride now. <laughs> <The infrared camera continues to show Mikey> You know, I don't wanna lose to a bunch of girls, so <long pause> am I gonna be looking over both shoulders before I watch anybody else's back? Absolutely. <A wide view of several other Rubak members is shown next> That don't mean I'm gonna screw anybody over, but <pause> it's all Team Mikey B now. <A soft music plays, as the camera shows the tide washing against the shore, and then turns to Eliza> Eliza: Where's Mary? Is she back yet? <The infrared camera then scrolls over to Alexis> Alexis - CONFESSIONAL: My alliance has definitely fallen apart: <short pause> Aras is gone; Ian's been gone for a while, and Mary seems like she's on another planet right now, <A detached Mary is now shown walking back into camp, as indistinct conversation is heard> so I definitely feel like an outsider knowing that most of the people I was closest to are gone… <A wide view of all six Rubak members is now shown, before the camera zooms in on Alexis> Alexis: <talking aloud> My days are definitely numbered… <Another view of Alexis is shown> Alexis - CONFESSIONAL: I am not going to give up. You know, there's still a glimmer of hope that I can somehow finagle my way into a majority. <The camera scrolls across several castaways> If I have to pull the four Fans together against Brooke and Eliza, you know, make it Fans vs. Favorites again, I'll do that, <A wide view of Tracy, Brooke, Mikey, and Eliza is shown> and if I have to get all the girls to turn against Mikey, <The infrared camera zooms in on Mikey> I'll definitely do that. <Another close-up view of a determined Alexis is shown> I mean, I'll start chipping away at those cracks, and hopefully some of tonight's enemies will become tomorrow's allies… <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows a close-up view of the Rubak tribe's fire flickering. A clip of Mikey and Eliza sitting on the Rubak tribe's boat is then shown, as Eliza is heard saying something inaudible> Mikey: I'm okay with being bored, but I shouldn't be this bored, you know? <There is an extended silence, as the camera shows several rats scurrying along the beach, and then returns back to Mikey and Eliza again> Mikey: <to Eliza> Rats: <short pause> they're so damn fast… <Eliza is now shown nodding> Eliza: <to Mikey> There used to be a few, now there's 50 million of them… <The camera zooms back in on Mikey again, and focuses on him for a few seconds> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: Before Tribal Council last night, Aras approached me about going to the Final Three with him and Mary, <Mary is shown lying by herself in the shelter> but my alliance with Tracy, Eliza, and Brooke had an opportunity to vote three people out, one, two, three, <The camera now abruptly cuts ahead to show Alexis> and go to the Final Four, you know? <Another clip of Eliza and Mikey is shown next> Eliza: <to Mikey> I appreciate you, you know, staying with us… <Mikey nods his head> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> To me, it only could have backfired on me if I attempted to switch it up, <The camera shows Tracy walking along the beach> and <long pause> to be perfectly honest, if I were in Alexis' or Mary's shoes right now, I wouldn't even have unpacked cause they're the next two going home. Guaranteed. <There is a prominent drumbeat, before the camera shows a tearful Mary laying in the shelter with her teal buff half-covering her face, as Alexis consoles her> Mary: <talking aloud> I'm done with this place! This is too much for me right now… <The camera then zooms in on a sympathetic Alexis> Alexis: <to Mary> It's not your fault that we're in this position, <Mary can be heard saying something inaudible> but <pause> we can fight through this and get Brooke out, okay? I'm so tired of fighting… <The camera scrolls back over to Alexis> Alexis: <to Mary> It's a million dollars though, girl. <Mary can be heard saying "I don't care," before the camera switches angles to show Brooke and Eliza standing nearby> You don't want them to beat you… <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera zooms in on Brooke> Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: This morning, Mary's not having a good day. <Mary is shown lying in the shelter> I mean, she disappeared for most of the night; <short pause> she's flat-out refusing to do any work around camp, and she's just an emotional wreck. <The camera shows another wide view of Brooke, Eliza, Alexis, and Mary> Eliza: <to Mary> I think that even if you want to stay in the shelter, if you want to help us cut up coconut that would really help… <A close-up view of Mary is then shown next> Mary: <to Eliza> Honestly, don't talk to me, <long pause> and don't try to act like you're concerned about my feelings when I know you're voting me out of here… <Eliza is then shown looking surprised, as the camera cuts back to her again> Eliza: <to Mary> Well, maybe if you didn't just speak to me like that, I wouldn't vote you out! Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I definitely feel like she's given up since we voted Aras out, and <long pause> I think she's bringing a little too much drama around camp right now. <A spooky music begins to play, as the camera shows a clip of a sea snake slithering along a beach, and then cuts ahead to show a fast-forwarded view of a cluster of hermit crabs scurrying overtop one another. Mary is then shown again> Mary - CONFESSIONAL: It's not hard for me to pretend I'm giving up in the game and play that role, you know, in front of the tribe. <Mary can now be seen pulling her buff down over her face> I mean, I'm not gonna go start hauling wood or anything. <A clip of Mikey carrying an armful of firewood is shown next> I don't think I've touched a single stick of firewood since we merged. <laughs> No, I know I'm going home! <The camera switches angles to show a detached Mary again, as she lays in the shelters> I'm gonna park my butt in the hut, appear as weak and unthreatening as possible, and wait for Immunity… <The camera shows Mikey and Tracy dropping bundles of firewood down by the fire> Tracy: <to Mikey> She's counting on saving her energy; <Mikey can be heard saying something inaudible> she wants to win Immunity… <Another close-up view of Mikey is shown> Mikey: <to Tracy> She's not giving up! <The camera continues to focus on Mikey> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: Mary, she's just horrible to be around right now. <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows Mary lying in the shelter> She's flying off the handle completely and going down a road she doesn't need to take, and <pause> she'll bury her own ass that way. You know, she's one of the worst players that has ever played the game… <The camera cuts ahead to show Eliza, Mikey, and Tracy talking on the beach> Mikey: She wants to get home to her family? I mean, come on! You can't wait six more days?! Eliza: <to Mikey> It's [censored]! <Tracy can be seen nodding her head dramatically> Mikey: Nobody is gonna play this game for 33 days and then quit on Day 34. <Eliza is shown, as she says "Exactly"> It's just not gonna happen, and if you do, you're dumb… <The camera scrolls back over to Mikey again, as Eliza laughs> Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> Looks-wise, she might be a 9 or a 10, but personality-wise, she's a 0. <The camera focuses back in on a tearful Mary> I mean, she has no type of personality whatsoever that I would ever want to be around again in my life, and she just ruined her game completely. <Another close-up view of an emotional Mary is shown, as she wipes her eyes> Yeah, good job… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the screen fades out>

The camera now scrolls around the beach, where a giant pit of white mud can be seen. A close-up view of Jeff is then shown next> Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Come on in, guys! <The music becomes more dramatic, as the camera switches angles to show the six Rubak members walking in to the challenge area. Quick close-up views of both Alexis and Mikey are shown, before the camera zooms out to show the entire tribe gathering into a group on the teal mat. Jeff is then shown again> Jeff Probst: You guys ready to get to today's Reward Challenge? <A wide view of the castaways is shown, as they nod their heads and reply with an enthusiastic "Yes!"> Tracy: Yeah… <The camera shows a rapid clip of Mikey, and then scrolls back over to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Today's challenge is all about speed and communication. <The camera continues to focus on Jeff for a few seconds> Here's how it works: <short pause> for today's challenge, you will be paired up in teams of two. <The Rubak members are shown listening intently, and nodding their heads again> One partner will be blindfolded; <A close-up view of Mary is shown> the other partner will be the caller. <Jeff is then shown again> In each round, the blindfolded castaway will have to search for a specific wooden animal in a giant pit of white mud <An aerial view of the large pit of white mud is shown, as the camera rapidly scrolls around it> from one of Micronesia's most notable landmarks, the Milky Way, which is a lake containing natural mud sulfur <Tracy is shown raising her eyebrows> that literally makes the water and the mud look like milk. <The camera now fades out to show a female castaway searching through the white mud> You'll all be looking for a different animal, <A male castaway is then shown pulling a wooden crab out of the mud> so you'll have to rely on verbal communication with your partner to make sure you have a match. <A thoughtful-looking Alexis can be seen nodding her head> Last person in each round to bring the matching wooden animal back to the start will be eliminated, <A clip of two wooden sharks is shown> or if you bring the wrong animal back, <A clip of a wooden fish and a wooden crab on a mat is then shown next> you're also eliminated, until there are only three left. <Tracy and Mikey are both shown looking at each other> In the final round, first person to bring back a correct matching animals wins Reward. <The camera now cuts back to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Make sense? <A close-up view of both Mary and Alexis nodding is shown> Mary: Yes. <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera switches angles to show Jeff again> Jeff Probst: Shall we get you guys paired up? <Another wide view of the entire Rubak tribe is shown, as the castaways nod their heads, and the camera returns to Jeff> Jeff Probst: Tracy, you're gonna be paired up with your husband! <Surprised gasps and awes are heard, as the camera shows the six castaways. Another view of Jeff is shown next> Jeff Probst: Long ago, the islands of Palau once comprised a single land mass, <The camera focuses in on Alexis, as she listens intently> and on this island lived a very usual man named Uab. <The camera now scrolls over to Eliza> When he was a child, he did not play with any of the other children. <Another close-up view of Jeff is shown> Instead, he was simply content to eat large amounts of food all day and sleep. <The camera now switches angles to show both Mikey and Mary> Even when he was young, he would eat more than all the adults, and he soon grew to be enormous. <The camera shows a thoughtful Tracy, as she subtly nods her head> The larger he got, of course, the more food he consumed, and it wasn't long before he was eating all the food that his entire family could produce. <There is a prominent sound, as the camera turns back to Alexis again> After that, he consumed all the food from his neighbors as well. <The camera now focuses back in on Mikey> He continued to grow larger and larger until only his head could fit inside of his house, while the rest of his body stretched out onto the beach. <A view of all six Rubak members is shown, before the camera goes back to Jeff> By the time Uab became an adult, he was eating all the food in the entire community: <short pause> sometimes 50 large baskets a day of fish, taro, fruit, and coconut juice. <Mary gazes ahead, as she continues to concentrate> The villagers had to climb ladders to feed him and force food into his mouth because he was so large that he couldn't feed himself. <The camera now scrolls across each of the Rubak members, as Jeff continues to tell the story> Other villagers were starving just so they could feed Uab, so finally, they decided to kill him because they feared they would run out of food. <A close-up view of Tracy is then shown next> While he was asleep one night, they tied him up and set fire to his house. Posts: 3651 (08/08/08 7:12 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	EPISODE 13 NOTES: Here are a few important notes about Episode 13 and the rest of this story. Please be sure to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on. 1) So there is Episode 13. To me, it's a bit of a 'weird' episode, as the one before the finale tends to be. There are some things that I like about it and some things that I don't like. For one, I almost think that the family visit was unnecessary as it's been done so many times before and it didn't really add much to the Reward, which would have been fine without the husbands there. The introduction of the family members added almost 2 pages to the Reward Challenge, and therefore ate up time/space that could have gone to camp life between the challenges. I felt like there was a lack of actual camp scenes in this episode, but believe it or not, there were actually more pages of camp scenes than several China episodes (including the top-ranked Denise's boot episode). Next season, my #1 goal is to go back to the shorter episodes again. This episode wasn't "rushed" (it took me about 5 extra days to write this one!) but I could see it maybe coming across this way because of the quickness between the two challenges that make the episode seem to skip from the beginning to the end. As for the parts I liked, I liked the Reward and the Tribal Council, as well as the pre-TC strategy scene but I'll talk more about all of that stuff later. Before I get into anything else though, I want to congratulate KittyPryde1 for correctly predicting the three-way tie and EXACTLY how the voting will go. Again, more on this later… 2) I'll be working on updating everything in the thread in the next two days. My responses to comments might be a bit shorter than usual because I'm trying to get as much done on Episode 13 as I can right away, since I have some busy days coming up. 3) The rest of the notes will go through the whole episode in order, like usual, and I'll also answer a few questions that I think you might have about what is going on right now: 4) Again, like almost every episode, this one starts with the aftermath of Tribal Council where everyone is happy about being in the Final Six, except for Mary who takes off from everyone else and says she needs to go scream somewhere. I've always been honest in these notes, so I'll say that Mary's recent portrayal is one of the very few things that have ever deviated from my original plans. While I always knew that she'd take a negative turn after the merge, I didn't initially intend to portray her as "crazy" (which I think she's acting like, in some ways). That just kindof happened and I ran with it, but that's a little different than how her character was supposed to go. Anyways, Mikey B gets a confessional about being the last man standing, which I tried to allude to as far back as Episode 4 with Natalie's voting confessional, and Alexis gets a confessional saying how she isn't going to give up and she's going to keep fighting. This sets the tone for most of the episode, I think, because a lot of it focuses on Alexis trying to save herself. She wants to either get all the girls together to vote out Mikey (unlikely, because of the disdain with Eliza and Brooke), OR get the Fans to vote out Brooke, which is a more possible scenario. However, Mary takes a very different approach… 5) The Day 34 scene begins with Mikey explaining the situation before the last Tribal Council where Aras tried to get him to blindside Brooke. Mikey says Why would he mess up a guaranteed chance to go to the F4 and get rid of three people? After this, we see Mary sulking in the shelter and fake-crying and not doing any work, basically saying that she's done with the game and she wants to go home. The other people in the tribe basically know that it's all a pathetic act, and there's a few confessionals where people bash Mary and call her an "emotional wreck" and "horrible to be around" etc. She also has a confessional saying she's not going to do any work if she knows she's going home; she's going to save all her energy for the Immunity Challenge. 6) Now, we get to the Reward Challenge, which is rather early in the episode since there's a whole two pages of introducing the family members. I'm guaranteeing right now that I'm not doing this in the next season because it's too much, it's too repetitive, and it wastes a lot of space in the episode. I'm sure most of you skip over it anyway. This is an original challenge that I came up with though, and I like the concept behind it, but I'm not sure how well it came across in the writing. The concept is that there are a bunch of wooden animals hidden throughout a pit of white mud. There really is a place in Palau called Milky Way and the mud/water really does look like milk. So each pair is basically assigned a random animal per round, and the Survivors are blindfolded and have to move through the pit to find wooden animals. They rely on feeling the animal and the communication of their loved ones to determine if they had a match or not. Some animals (such as fish and bird) had different possibilities where there was more than one type of them, and there were more animals than necessary per round to make it harder. This is a challenge that I think would be better to watch on TV than to read in writing, but I did my best with it and hope it came across okay. 7) So Tracy won this Reward Challenge, and she got to bring one person to go with her on the Reward. Why did Tracy choose Brooke to join her on the Reward? Tracy choice Brooke for a few reasons: 1) She didn't want to choose Mikey and leave Mary/Brooke/Eliza alone at camp together. Either one of them would kill the other(s) or they'd actually talk strategy and decide to vote out Tracy/Mikey. 2) Eliza already had a family visit in Vanuatu, and it was Brooke's husband as opposed to Eliza's boyfriend, which is higher on the Terry Deitz loved ones scale (real EI). Possibly, she should have went with Eliza because Eliza and Mikey are fairly close and could have strategized together at camp. This DID happen, but it was one of the things I cut out from the middle of the episode - I did not write it into a full scene, otherwise I would post it as an Extra. 8) Like Tracy said at Tribal Council, she chose Alexis to go to Exile Island because she figured that Mary was just going to sit around and do nothing regardless of whether she was at camp or Exile Island. Alexis was DEFINITELY going to do everything she could to find the idol (even though she figured it was probably gone), and in doing so, she'd be more worn out for the Immunity Challenge, which is exactly what happened. Jeff was also dead on at TC when he said that sending Alexis basically confirmed that the idol wasn't out there anymore because there's no way they'd risk sending her, but Alexis still wanted to look just incase… 9) So we go back to camp where there's a very short scene (sorry it couldn't be longer and I couldn't show other castaway's reaction), where Mary gives back the stolen food. At one point there was a confessional from Mikey saying something along the lines of "Keep your **ing food, cause most of it got mold anyway from being buried under a wet cave!" I got rid of that when I shortened it, but Mary also tried to throw Alexis under the bus here and say that it was Alexis's idea and she [Mary] never had a problem with anyone. After that, she proceeded to go lay down on the beach and do nothing again, while Eliza said that she can't stand Mary. 10) Now we have a Reward scene which is one that I actually really like, minus the inclusion of the family members. The main part of the Reward that I wanted to focus on was the diving because it's much more unique and the stuff on the yacht has also been done before many times. I researched diving sites in Palau and what kind of things could be seen, and then I just touched on a few of them here. Obviously, they can't really be talking underwater with diving equipment on, which is why this scene relied heavily on confessionals and narration. I think it would be really nice to watch it on TV, especially if it was in HD like Gabon will be. There really is a lot of spectacular marine life around Palau, and I also wanted to address the war aspect by having them dive around a Japanese seaplane. That was the part of the Reward I liked. After that, they went to the yacht, they were shown looking in the mirror, and then eating dinner. There's nothing too interesting or special about any of that. I wasn't going to make that any longer than it needed to, but I did think that Brooke's final confessional was a good way to end of the scene - and fit well for her character. 11) The next scene is on Exile Island, where we hear Alexis talking about Nate visiting her and being upset that she only got a few moments with him because her family is very important to her. She talks about being cut off from her family and her tribe, and then has a confessional about the Immunity Challenge. She says that even though she's still in an alliance with Mary, she doesn't want Mary to win because then she'll [Alexis] will definitely be the one on the chopping block. I know it would have been nice to have another camp scene at this point and show Tracy/Brooke returning back from their Reward or something, but I thought that this last confessional was an appropriate segue into the Immunity Challenge. 12) Now we go to the Immunity Challenge, which was a little bit longer than it otherwise would have been since it had the story aspect attached to it. The story challenge is always one that I like to use more often than not because I enjoy the local legends and things that I incorporate. Unfortunately, it probably wasn't the best decision to have this challenge in the same episode as the family challenge because both were extra long. Anyway, I thought this challenge was okay, and again, congratulations to KittyPryde1** for remembering the quote from Mikey about him winning Immunity Challenges. We'll have to see if he goes on an Immunity run now. The only other thing I wanted to mention about this challenge was that Alexis did especially poorly, which is why she was upset after the challenge. 13) I think/hope that the rest of the Episode after the Immunity Challenges makes up for a fairly slow and uneventful start/middle. The tribe returns to camp and Alexis is now upset (in addition to Mary, who's been upset and isolated for 3 days). She really did do extremely bad in the challenge, which would also be easier to pick up on on TV. She gets a confessional about this and Eliza also gets a confessional saying that Alexis has been horrendous and she's really upset with herself for her poor performance. However, this makes Mary a bigger Immunity threat, so Eliza says it actually helped Alexis. Eliza wants to vote off Mary (this will hopefully be obvious by now), but Mikey [and Tracy] wants to vote off Alexis. This might be a little bit more unexpected since he was bashing Mary earlier, but given Alexis' scrambling, I think it will make sense. It also shouldn't be too much of a surprise that the alliance of 4 ended up splitting into two pairs of two. I think that's been coming for a while. The M/T/E/B alliance IS very wise in realizing that if either of Mary or Alexis were in the Final Three, they would almost 100% get votes from Ian, Aras, and Mary/Alexis. 14) So according to how everybody wants to vote right now, we'd be looking at this kind of situation: VOTING FOR MARY: Eliza, Brooke VOTING FOR ALEXIS: Tracy, Mikey We don't know yet who Alexis and Mary will be voting for, but given that Brooke has the hidden Immunity Idol, I think you probably expected it to be her. At some point in this scene, Mikey has a very telling confessional that he thinks he could win against everyone. He says he's win in a landslide against everyone else except Tracy, but he would still beat Tracy. Eliza has a confessional that introduces the possibility of the three-way tie, which is something that I've wanted to have for a long time, and I know I've brought it up more than once before. It seemed like this was the right time for it to finally happen, and I think it made the end of the Episode more interesting than if Alexis was voted off 4-2. The focus now shifts from that alliance to Alexis, who says that her best option is to pick up where Aras left off and try to get T/M to blindside Brooke. Remember, it's pretty clear to Alexis that Brooke does have the idol at this point. She makes the pitch for them to vote off Brooke, and then they'll "never have to worry about the idol again." If you've been reading the notes, you know that's how I feel too. But, Mary didn't try to convince anyone to keep her, while Alexis did. Tracy gets a confessional saying that Alexis is a bigger threat and she will be going home. 15) Mikey then gets a confessional saying that he respects that Alexis wants to stay, but him and Tracy are considering letting it be a 3-way tie because E/B aren't going to budge. Unlike Kathy's TC, Mikey has Immunity this time, so even though they can't be sure exactly how the tie-breaker will work, Mikey will be safe no matter what. However, they are pretty sure that it will work the way a regular tie does: the people that the tie is between will not get to re-vote and everyone else will. Well, here's what Mikey was talking about in his second confessional because that means that Alexis, Mary, AND Brooke all will NOT vote. Tracy, Mikey, and Eliza WILL vote. This means that in the re-vote, Tracy and Mikey can just vote for Alexis and even if Eliza doesn't, it will be 2-1 and Alexis will go home. So they purposefully forced a 3-way tie, expecting that they would come out with the majority. Smart strategy from these two, once again! It's true that these two (or one of them) have pretty much been instrumental in every vote they've been a part of, except for Chet's, which was unanimous: Tracy organized the Erik blindside. Tracy was the one who spearheaded the Natalie blindside, although Mikey was important in that one too. Tracy/Mikey were both essential to the Earl blindside. Jason came up with the idea of voting out Ruth Marie, but it wouldn't have worked without T/M agreeing. Tracy was partially responsible for Terry going when he did (Mikey voted for Eliza), and then Mikey ensured Jason's ouster by playing the hidden Immunity Idol. They both voted for Ian. Mikey sealed Kathy's fate by switching his vote. They both voted for Sherea, Aras, and now Alexis. So Mikey was pretty accurate with his last confessional. Quick mentions of the Mary and Eliza confessionals: Mary says that if the plan to blindside Brooke doesn't work (it's pretty obvious it doesn't), she hopes Alexis will go first because Alexis' desperation will make her a target. This is what happened, so Mary's strategy of trying to be weak and unthreatening did help her. Eliza calls Mary a fake bitch because of this and says that she'll enjoy writing Mary's name down because it's been 36 days and she hasn't had a vote yet. 16) Tribal Council is one of my favorite parts of the episode, and like the challenges, it was unusually long, which also contributed to fewer camp scenes. I probably could have cut out some of Alexis' questions (especially the one about family), but I thought that I should at least give her a decent boot episode that establishes her personality more. I have to say, this was one of the few times that I kindof liked her character and was rooting for her a little bit because of the fight she put up. There are a few things that I wanted to mention about this TC: --- Brooke admitting that she had the hidden Immunity Idol: this wasn't really as bad as it might seem. Everyone pretty much knew it, and the alliance of four has been very tight to the point where they have not been willing to turn on each other at all. Even if Mary/Alexis know Brooke has the idol, they can't do anything without at least one other person's help and that was VERY unlikely to happen. --- I think Mary and Alexis both made great points in the middle of TC about "who's the bigger threat to you: the two girls who've never won a challenge or the girl with the hidden Immunity Idol?" --- I also liked Eliza's response and the exchange with Alexis, where Eliza says that Alexis/Mary would be big threats in the F2/3 because they'd get the votes from their alliance. Alexis then counters it by saying "you're assuming the jury will vote based on personal feelings," which was also a valid point. --- Alexis once again reiterates that she's not going to give up and then Eliza is asked about who you'll remain friends with. I thought she gave a pretty decent answer here: she could have said that she hates Alexis and Mary and never wants to see them, but she was pretty diplomatic about it. Jeff commented that there were no secrets in the tribe, and then that led into the vote… 17) I don't think it was a surprise about the 3-way tie coming true, especially since I posted on Sucks that there was something that happens for the first time ever in Survivor history. I've already talked about this in some of the earlier notes, so I don't have much else to say other than I liked the idea and I hope to see this happen on the real show sometime because I think it could be interesting… 18) So with Alexis finishing in sixth place, she joins people like Cecelia, James Clement, Melinda, Cirie, Sundra, and probably a few other people who finished in the same position in both my fanfic and the real show. I think every season has had somebody who fit into this category - I just can't think of them all off the top of my head. 19) A LOOK AHEAD AT THE FINALE! Finally, the finale is about to be here! I've waited a long time for this one, and I've been promising a few surprises. I've deliberately avoided revealing some specific details, such as if there will be a Final 2 or 3, why there is potentially an extra person on the jury, why there are five people in the finale, etc. because I wanted it to not be so easy to predict exactly what was going to happen. I think that you'll all find the finale to be exciting and suspenseful, and I don't think you'll be disappointed by it. I'm not going to say that it will be as good as the Fiji finale - that one will probably not be topped, but I loved China's finale too and I hope that this one will be at least as good as that. I really like the Final Five: there's three Fans, two Favorites, and I think that it will be an interesting battle for the million dollars. Like I've done the past few seasons, I'll post the season recap a few days early so that you can read that and refresh yourself on some of the important events that went down throughout the season. I'll be doing a Reunion Show after the finale (probably about 2 weeks later), and I'm also going to do something new this season by posting an editing analysis of all the "clues" and foreshadowing, etc. So hopefully that will be an interesting read… 20) So that's it for Episode 13. Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. I liked this one a lot, as usual. I had gone through this whole season moderately liking Mary. And this episode made it like a complete 180. I was rooting for them to keep Alexis and get rid of Mary. It does make sense, though. It's kind of like in Palau when Tom and company were trying to get rid of Janu over Steph. The lazy, about-to-quit girl over the girl who would fight her way to survive. I'm not sure if that's a comparison you were going for, but I liked that little allusion. As for the Final Six's thoughts on how Mary (or Alexis) would fare against the jury...it's kind of like Sharon from BB9. She had Josh, Chelsia, and James as her friends on the jury. And that's 3 of the 4 votes. But it was hard to determine (at least for me) on whether any of the others would have voted for her. I'm not sure why I'm making so many reality TV references, but I guess the episode was just thought-provoking (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? I agree that Alexis will most definitely get a 4, but I felt that numbers might have been off this week due to the family visit (ie. loved ones taking up air time), longer challenges, and an extended Tribal Council. Alexis also got an Exile Island scene which I thought might bump her up just a little, but I agree she's probably a 4. As for the others, it seems like quite a range between Mary and Eliza/Mikey, so I thought they might have enough to be bumped up to a 4 - Mikey for sure. I'm pretty sure most people will vote 4 for him, especially if they don't see the numbers.

I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and I appreciate you taking the time to be so thorough with your thoughts. Once again, a good episode! Very glad you broke up the suprising monotony of so many blindsides with a predictable boot. Aras basically going out the same way in both his seasons: expected. I am very glad that the alliance of 4 finally got wise about pooling money and throwing Immunity to one person. Like you, I am extremely surprised nobody has done that before on the real show. The fights in the episode were both good and bad. Bad in the sense that they were cringeworthy, as I thought Dave and Sherea's fights always were. But good to make a very entertaining read. This season is probably the most hostile post-merge I can remember, maybe besides Exile Island. The line is drawn so clearly between Brooke and Eliza and Mary and Alexis it's ridiculous. Which is great to give Mikey and Tracy (my two favorites at this point) some leeway to make their way to the finals. Thanks. Glad you thought it was a good episode, and that you enjoyed a more predictable boot this time. When planning out the season, I didn't intentionally say "I want to have so many blindsides this season," but it just happened that there were a lot of them in a row with how the season worked out. True about Aras going out the same way in both seasons - and on the same day. I agree that people need to wise up on the show and start coming up with creative ideas like pooling money and working together in Immunity. I also agree with you about the fights, but I honestly think these ones were worse than Dave/Sherea in terms of being cringeworthy. I would say the Dave/Sherea ones were more realistic, whereas these might possibly seem more like fighting just to fight. You're right that this is probably the most hostile post-merge tribe that there's ever been. Exile Island was not even this bad at the end. The tribe was sharply divided for a while, but the people didn't have an extreme dislike for each other. The strategizing session where the alliance actually planned before challenges. That and Aras's semi-gloating before TC. I was worried when he didn't get much of a negative edit after the merge episode. But you made up for it this time. Thank you. I enjoyed the strategizing before the challenges as well. I guess you weren't a fan of Aras then... A solid 9. Good drama, good strategy, good challenges, good everything. Thank you very much. I really appreciate that, and I'm happy that you liked all of those aspects of it! :) Well it'd be nice to see how the Aras and Mary "relationship" progressed after the show. Yes, I will definitely ask them something about this. I'm thinking Mary or Alexis are voted off, but in an interesting fashion. I know you always say you have a problem with the second to last episode. So maybe Brooke plays the idol. Yes, I do usually have a hard time with the pre-finale episode. I didn't have the same kind of troubles I usually do with it, but there were still some things that didn't come out as well as I hoped... Eliza is blindsided at the Final 5. Mary/Alexis is voted off at the Final 4 (Brooke will side with M/T). Mikey wins the final challenge and the privilege to nullify a vote. Tracy comes in last and is eliminated (Survivor SA style). Mikey beats Brooke in the final vote. Very interesting predictions! Thank you for posting them - having someone eliminated from the challenge would definitely be an interesting twist of events.
