Posts: 3408 (06/09/08 1:44 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Hi everyone, Unfortunately, I have been experiencing some MAJOR unexpected computer difficulties this morning, and I'm trying desperately to get all of my files burned onto CDs because a hard drive crash seems to be imminent. I have no idea what happened all of a sudden but I'm having a lot of data failures and randomly losing files - just today! So by the time I got all of this straightened out, it could be a couple days from now and I'm afraid that Episode 7 is going to have to be delayed for a while because I won't be able to write at all during this time. Sorry for the bad news. I hope I get everything all fixed up without losing too much data (or my hard drive/computer), and then I'll get back on track with this story. Hope you guys can understand. I'm kindof distraught right now... - guatemala fanfic PS: I did get all of my fanfics saved already and only lost a few files from some of the earlier seasons. This story should be okay.

I just realized that most of the fanfic folders I were able to burn were incomplete. I can save the episodes still from the files that are on Geocities, but the images might be gone forever except the final ones that are still up in the thread. The Panama Fanfic has now completely disappeared from my hard drive (I believe I have this fully on CD). For Cook Islands, Fiji, and China I lost basically everything in the folders after "c" in the alphabet, so pretty much all the images and stuff. I don't have any of the voting histories, etc. All-Stars seems to be okay for now. I'm just wondering if anyone saved things as I posted them and still have them on their computer (ie. a voting history for Episode 6 of China, or the cast image for Episode 9 of Fiji, etc. etc.). Thanks. It would be great if someone has this, but if not, that's okay... Besides that, turns out I lost a lot of other stuff: my Popularity spreadsheets for the fanfics, my Edgic spreadsheets for every season and visibility charts and all kinds of other stuff. Not good...

It won't start up at all, but I did get most of my files except for the ones that disappeared (as I mentioned above). So I will have some limited access to another computer (ie. right now), but it won't be until Saturday until anything is done about my other computer. I will write as much as I can during that time, but basically, everything is going to have to be pushed back for at least five days, sadly. I need to start transferring the data I was able to recover and make sure it's safe... Just thought I would keep you guys updated. Hope everyone else is having better luck than I am. You can probably find some of the stuff you're missing if you browse through your old fanfic topics, as long as you didn't remove images of stuff like old edgic and visibility charts after each episode. Also didn't you post the average score we all gave each of your episodes from this season and past seasons after like 2 or 3 episodes of the current season were posted? I seem to recall only episodes #1 and #2 were in that list of most to least popular episodes. I'm sorry to hear that you lost all of that stuff, good luck getting as much of it back as you can.

I will browse through the old thread and see what images are still in there. I was able to recover some of the spreadsheets that I was missing (the one with the episode scores, the Edgic and popularity, etc). It's mostly just all of the images that I'm missing now, and mostly for China. Hopefully there's a way to recover files from the damaged hard drive and then transfer it onto a new one... I'm going to try to write a little bit tomorrow and I'll see how far I get. Thanks to everyone for your concern and your understanding. Hope yo all have a great night! :)

Mine coputer crashed a month or two back but even though it wouldn't turn on, the technitians were able to extract all of the files and I now have my old computer on a little USB drive. Hopefully you'll also be able to get back all your files and data. If anything, you'll have more time to think about the next few episodes, so I'm sure they'll only be better when they get there! I've been writing from a laptop, which is a lot more difficult for me. I'm thinking that Episode 7 will be up maybe Tuesday or Wednesday and then I'll try to have Episode 8 up ASAP after that.
