Hi Hijojo! Great to hear from you again! Thanks a lot for your comments - I'm glad your post was recovered from the blackout the other night so that I could respond to it. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on it!

I really liked it... It was the first time I actually found myself liking Kenny in this fanfic, but still, not a huge fan of him. Kinda thinking Dan gets voted out soon, actually, just because he's had this incredible string of saves. Either that, or he finishes in second place is my bet.

Thanks. I figured people would like Kenny a little bit more after this episode. It was nice to be able to give him a decent send-off since I had kindof ignored him in some previous episodes.Dan continuing to get saved at every TC would be fun, but probably not that realistic, so you're probably right that he either goes soon or finds some way to not be targeted every time.

Thank you for your Ep 11 predictions (interesting!) and for filling out the Popularity Poll! Nice to see a lot of high(er) numbers there.

Finally, thank you for those excellent Edgic ratings and Contenders / Eliminated lists. Great job on everything! :)

1. Charlie - Not a stellar episode for him, but it's a nice cool down while all the action is away from him. He's slipping from the top spot, though.

Yeah, he's lost a lot of support recently. The most surprising thing is that based on all the votes for this week, Crystal ends up as the #1 Edgic Contender (shock!)...

2. GC - His edit's beginning to look pretty strong, and this was a good episode for him after two episodes in a row with a 5 visibility.

Whether he wins or not, he definitely needed a cooldown as I don't like to give people lots of 5s (or even 4s) in a row, unless they're a HUGE character like a Jonathan or Eliza.

3. Crystal - Huge edit in the beginning, then slowed and it's beginning to pick back up again. An odd edit, that's for sure, but she's still viable.

Well, there's a very logical explanation for this. The first four episodes, she WAS the Kota tribe. Everything pretty much revolved around her and she was vulnerable at 3/4 of those Tribal Councils. After the swap, she kindof faded away because she got in her alliance right away and became safe for a while, so there was no need to show her for a few episodes. Now that the tribes merged and the numbers have dwindled, she starts to come a bit more to the forefront but not as much as the beginning where she was the center of the story.

Just about out:
Randy (too N for too long now, I think. Especially after this episode)
Dan (Been very P, beginning to look like he's a distraction again - 3 ratings of CPP5 in the last 4 episodes does not help at all. My bet for the runner-up, though.)

Just a thought, but I would love a P Dan vs. N Randy Final Two. We'll see if that can happen or not though...

Yeah, the next fanfic is a season with my own characters. I've had the cast created since Summer 2007 (between Fiji and China) and the planning of the season has been in the works since then. The reason I can't do Tocantins is because I didn't plan it out before the season aired, so it would be influenced by the real show now. I have to get through Gabon first, so as was mentioned on the last page, I don't expect the new one to start up until around August.

Hello Mr X819! Thanks so much for your comments, especially because they are so positive this time. That was a very pleasant surprise and I'm glad you enjoyed the episode so much. You bring up some great points! :)

I have to admit, this is probably one of the first episodes you've written that sounds like it could correspond perfectly with the real show. This is not against your story, but the real show. What makes your fanfic so interesting is that it seems everyone is very tactful and understanding of the game, wheras in the real show we have people who have no idea what they're doing and are played up as such (Erik, Sugar, Coach). This episode we had a fair share of strategic blunders. Altogether it was a very interesting and nice episode to watch (the second in a row focused completely on strategy), though as a Fang/evil fan, it kind of sucked to see Ken go.

I agree with you here, and this is something I was definitely more conscious of when planning out Gabon because I felt it was especially true of Micronesia that the players were too far ahead of the game. Like, with Tracy and Mikey especially. They were a little bit *too* strategically adept, and I've always felt that my players were more willing to make big game moves. Sometimes on the real show, the players are stupid and they don't make the moves that they should. You will definitely see that happening in the last few episodes of Gabon because I realized it wasn't realistic for everyone to be extremely smart and strategic. So I'm glad you picked up on that here and you're definitely right!

Interesting that you say it was the second in a row that focused completely on strategy because I didn't think of it like that. I think a lot of people enjoy the strategy-heavy episodes, and Episode 11 seems like it's going to be the third in a row - with the exception of the Reward and Exile scenes.

Ken's slow build of his allies throughout the episode (first Randy, then GC, then Crystal, and finally Jacquie) before his ultimate downfall in the idol.

Thank you. Considering the blunders that you mentioned, I really think Ken did an awesome job in this episode and made pretty much all the right moves. He was the one who wanted to vote for Paloma, and I did like his downfall by the idol. It's extremely significant and game-changing. You'll see what I mean.

Were Paloma, Dan, and Charlie really that blind not to think of the possibility that Jacquie would turn on them?

I would say they considered it, but because they figured Crystal/GC were flipping back, Jacquie's vote was really irrelevant in the end anyway. It was Dan seeing everyone writing down a "short name" that convinced him to use the idol. But Jacquie's position is one of the main stories of the next episode...

Wasn't my fave. I couldn't really tell if it was a continuation of Ep. 9, or a set-up ep, it was kinda weird for me. It was kinda out there, if you know what I mean.

Hmm, I would definitely say it's both. It continues some Episode 9 storylines and it definitely sets up stuff for Saturday's episode, particularly with Randy and Jacquie. Not sure why it was a weird ep, but I hope the next one will be better.

Randy saying that Dan couldn't have found the idol, then the next line is Dan telling Charlie and Paloma that he found it.

Glad you caught that. It was definitely placed that way on purpose.

Randy definitely has a few moments where he detaches from the game. I think you can almost guarantee that there will be some kind of swing vote.

It was a good read, but honestly, if Ken and Co. are worried about the idol, misdirect Jacquie, and get four votes... they're pretty good players. I can understand the misdirection, but I honestly think if they originally don't want to risk Dan, they wouldn't risk Dan, especially with Charlie in the game. I almost feel like it was too unrealistic for Charlie to get skipped over twice and targets, for freaking PALOMA. I feel like it was done like that because Charlie can't go this episode... because he has to win. Kind of a case of the end creating the story, which is not what should be happening.

I'm not going to say whether or not Charlie wins obviously, but I'm going to refute this theory. The reason Charlie was skipped over was because they were trying to think of what Dan would think, and logically, it would be very unlikely for them to vote for someone they thought would have the idol. So they thought Dan would think he wouldn't be targeted, and he would give the idol away to someone. If he gave it away, it would be to Charlie, not Paloma. So after they decided not to vote for Paloma, they didn't want to switch to Charlie and then Charlie have the idol. They thought that was a more likely scenario. It was a mistake, yes, but it wasn't done just to keep Charlie around so he can win. I think that my players can't always make the best strategic moves all the time and I'm trying to show that in these last few episodes. I assure you that, even if Charlie wins, it was not a case of "the end creating the story."
