Hello SFC! Thanks a lot fot your comments on the episode. Glad to see that you enjoyed it so much (although I was pretty sure you would, given the outcome), and I enjoyed reading all of your thoughts on it! :)

First off I love you, and congrats on your 100th Episode, good thing it was used to kick off Matty, although you did scare me putting all 3 Matty votes first thinking Sugar was going to be blindsided. I liked the Charlie/Gillian scene, I wasn't a fan of Charlie before, but now I like him. Also I'm glad I was able to keep the secret of Randy and the Idol until it happened, although now he could be in jeopardy because I knew he was safe until that scene happened.

Thank you. Yes, it was a good time to get rid of Matty, I think. Sorry for the scare at Tribal Council, and hopefully this means that there will be a good winner now since I'm pretty sure Matty was the one you least wanted to win (just like Aaron). Glad that you liked the Charlie/Gillian scene as well and that it made you a fan of Charlie. Also, thank you for keeping the secret of Randy and the Idol (I don't think I ever mentioned Randy - I'm pretty sure you just guessed that it was him). There is going to be more to come from this story too, so it won't just be brought to a close with this episode.

One way that I think would be awesome to do the Idol find, is once Randy finds it at camp, show it to everybody and burn it/crush it in front of everybody.

That would definitely be an interesting moment, and I'm promised a few "new" things that happen with the idol, so that or something to it could happen!

When I was doing Jeff's Thoughts preshow I was trying to figure out whether or not Jeff should have the same thoughts towards Matty. I think Jeff liked him but was not so over-the-top in favor of Matty. I'll probably just ask Matty what he thought of his edit at the Reunion.

It has to be someone in the majority alliance from either tribe, so that means it is between Dan, Charlie, Ace, Paloma, Corrnie, Marcus, Jacquie, Sugar, and Bob, considering Sugar was almost voted out last time I think she is safe, Ace, Dan, Bob, and Charlie seem too big to drop. I dont think you would boot another strong guy. So that leaves Paloma, Corrine, and Jacquie. Of those 3 I'm going to have to say Jacquie.

It would sbe sad if she got screwed over by a twist here too. Ironically, Jeff mentioned that that was probably the only way that she wouldn't make the merge in his preshow thoughts.

Paloma having a big episode could be like what you did for PG in China, give her a big episode then boot her i nthe same one.

Definitely possible...

Really enjoyed it. Honestly, the 9 person votes and the 7 person votes are always my favorites because there is always the possibility of somebody flipping. I kinda wish Marcus had because now Massive Crystal is in a bad position :-( Still I'm looking forward to the swap, should be a good one. I definitely love the way you write for Crystal... she is so hilarious. Thanks. Great to hear this! Yes, any odd-numbered votes are always the most exciting I think, and as you said, that's why there tends to be a lot of flip-flops at Final Nine, Seven, Five, etc. It definitely *could* have been a good move for Marcus to switch (had he aligned with Matty in that four group, he could have been either 1/2 if M/M beat out C/GC in a tie), but since there is a swap coming up, Crystal's position could be drastically improved. Thanks for the positive comment about Crystal's character too. She's definitely one of my favorites to write for, and that's why she ends up being shown a lot in the episodes.

Also love that the war between Ace and Charlie is on like Donkey Kong. Hope they stay on the same tribe. And it was definitely good to have less Dan in this episode.

Agreed on less Dan. Whether or not these key players remain together or get split up, I promise there will be great things to come from them that do make sense with what we've seen in the story so far.

Nope, it was a good one; everything was clear. I didn't like the last one so much because some things seemed kinda random. This one was a story with a beginning, middle, and end and I understand what happened and why, and it was definitely interesting to see what Marcus would do.

Understood about the last episode. It's interesting because it had the most "10 ratings" so far but also the most in the 5-6.5 range, and there tends to be a few episode like that where there's very different reactions to it.

hmmm... 8 Fang left, 6 Kota left. I think the tribes will even out keep their numbers, with one having 4 Kota and 4 Fang, the other having 4 Kota and 2 Fang. But we'll see.

I don't want to say for sure what will happen, but in past seasons, I've kept the same number of people on each tribe as there were before the swap (in Micronesia, it was 9-7 instead of evening out at 8). You must mean 4 Fang, 2 Kota though for the second tribe.

Jacquie - 7 (the MOR princess, she is either a hidden winner or she goes far but doesn't do much. she was the hardest one to assign edgic to, because she said a lot without really saying much.)

True, and I feel it's the same thing as with Alexis last season.

Thank you very much for those great Edgic ratings. Those are mostly what I expected from the episode, although I was a little surprised to see Bob getting an N. I can understand it, assumingly for the way he responded to Matty at Tribal Council.

Very good Contenders / Eliminated lists too. We will have to see how it plays out.

Hello JFRX! Great to hear from you, and thank you for another excellent and very detailed post. I know you can't reply all the time, but it is definitely a treat when you do, as I always enjoy reading what you have to say. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts! :)

Firstly, apologies for not actively commenting on the last few episodes- like others, I have been kept busy and have been forced to read the episodes in short sittings without much time to comment.

No need to apologize - just comment when you have time. I know that everyone is extremely busy right now.

However, I'm still really enjoying this season, and can see the groundwork being set for major plot-points coming up after the swap or the merge. Lots of characters such as Ace and Randy have had visibility low enough to keep them on the edgic radar, when they could have easily become OTTN villains already. Not only does this keep them in winner contention (Just as Dave was always edgically viable, because he could have been edited so much more OTT) but it also suggests that these stronger characters will be sticking around for a long time, keeping the season fresh and entertaining. I love that Gillian has avoided being the first boot from her tribe and has almost reached the stage where her age and weakness will start working for her. And, as usual, I love that you have taken completely different spins on characters that were so one-note in the actual season. I'm starting to really root for GC, and I'm hoping he sticks around like Sherea did.

Good points about Randy and Ace and their edits - that definitely seems logical to me, and it's something I've also mentioned with Randy so it's something to watch, for sure. Also, thanks for the comment about the different characters. Glad that GC has been a character that some people are liking, rather than just a stereotypical lazy black man.

This episode in particular was quite good in that it was engaging and suspenseful (I honestly believed that Fang would lose immunity) even thought the boot was fairly obvious and predictable. I liked that Matty had an interesting story arc, even though he was an early boot (just like Susie and Kelly). Too often, the real show fails to make use of the minor characters that leave early, but your fanfics generally allow every character to in some way shape the story and make the season what it is. I'm sure that we'll be getting some good material from Jaquie and Paloma in the near future, continuing this trend.

Thanks! Great that it was suspenseful despite the fairly obvious boot. I said before the season that you would know EVERYONE this season, and I do mean it. Michelle is the least developed of any character, so yes, even Jacquie and Paloma will get their time in the spotlight eventually (ie. next week for Paloma). I agree with what you said about the real show just ignoring minor characters, and I definitely try my best to utilize everyone in some way.

As I said above, I can just feel the tension building, especially over at Fang, and can't wait for all hell to break loose in future episodes. It's okay that the early episodes aren't the best episodes of the season, so long as they're fulfilling their purpose in laying the groundwork for the later episodes to blow us away. And even though the first four episodes haven't been amazing, they've been consistent in giving us glimpses of the potential that lots of the characters have make the rest of the season as great as your last few- I am confident that the best is yet to come!

Right. I believe I've described this season as "consistently good" too. Micronesia had some episodes in the 9s very early on, and then it kindof died down around the merge and never got back up to those 9+ episodes. This season is probably going to be very consistent in the 8.5, 8.75 range with a few episodes that get up into the 9s around the merge time. I don't think there will be any really boring ones, so all it takes is consistent mid-8s (with a few higher 9s) like we have so far, and this could still end up as the best season. There are definitely some 9-worthy episodes to come.

Probably Randy's reaction to Jeff during the challenge. I agree with what you said in your notes about this.

Charlie - CP4 (Seeming a bit like Brooke so far... and the visibility is actually quite high considering he was on the tribe that won immunity)

I can see that, but I was really hoping/expecting Charlie to be CPP this time, so he might end up with some tone, whereas Brooke didn't until about Episode 7 or 8.

Dan - MOR3 (Possibly CP but he was certainly less so that Charlie this episode)

Exactly, I think MOR is fine. There were other people who were far more complex.

G.C. - CPP4 (Not so sure about the P, may just be my subconcious comparison to his real-show protrayal)

I think the P is deserved.

Gillian - UTRP2 (Very much hidden, but still memorably positive for being the underdog. I think her visibility may actually be a 3- does that chart include the challenge?)

Yes, the chart does include the conversation during the challenge. I specifically counted this. Normally I don't include anything said during the challenges because it's usually just "Come on, Fang!" or whatever, but if there's relevant lines, I do count them.

Matty - OTTM5 (Very much charicatured, positive for being the underdog and siding with Crystal at the end, but also N due to the excessive SPV on his 'giving up')

Good points for M. I'm not sure what his tone will end up being.

Paloma - UTR1 (I'm hoping for CPP5 next week)

Maybe it will be Natalie's OTTNN5 like in real Micronesia.

Randy - MOR3 (Could also be CP- it's very hard with Randy to differentiate the edit from the character- he was shown thinking somewhat strategically, but is always doing so anyway. I'm also curious that despite the forshadowing that he will find the idol, he wasn't shown with a new clue to its location)

About the clue. There's a few reasons for this: 1) I only wanted to show him reading one clue, and the most relevant one for him was the opening clue because he expected that he'd use the two days on Exile to find it, so I wanted to show him finding out it was at camp. 2) The next clue that is given out for the idol is an important one that basically tells where the idol is and I couldn't think of a clue to come "between" the other clues that wouldn't be too obvious, so I just didn't show it. Randy did get a new clue though.

Thanks for those Contenders / Eliminated lists. Very logical and well-reasoned assessments of everybody there. You bring up a lot of great points!

2. Charlie- He has the numbers, but not yet the substance. He seems like Brooke or Marcus from the real show, and I still believe that edgic won't be so obvious this season after Tracy last time. However, I thought the same thing in Cook Islands, and JP won, so he's still on the list!

True, although if I wanted to be really sneaky I'd make an even more obvious winner than Tracy, knowing that everybody would discount that person because they're expecting a winner to be more hidden. I think people are thinking this because of Tracy and because of Bob, but Bob had not even won yet when I planned this!

3. Dan- He has room for development still, with Charlie as the visibility distraction to potentially hide behind. Hopefully these two will be separated by the swap next episode so that they recieve more individual edits which can then be analysed to determine which of them is the more likey winner. Currently, they both have winner potential.

Good point about them being separated. If they stay together, they might continue to blend togther instead of having distinct edits.

6.Ace- I've dropped him down slightly because of the clear arrogance and negativity probably setting him up for an eventual fall. Like on the real show, the editing is taking every opportunity to remind the reader that they should be rooting against him; this would probably be more subtle or not even present if he were the winner.

Unless he very arrogantly waltzes his way to the end like Richard or Brian did.

Ken- Not a strong premiere, but enough to compensate for a strong post-merge if he emerges as a big character, in which case the first few episodes would be confirmened as intentionally hiding him to make up for unavoidable spikes in visibility later on.

One interesting thing about Ken's Ep 1 edit is that he got a confessional that, so far, has been proven right. He's said that because he's scrawny and weak no one will be targeting him, and even though Gillian has told him he's the next weakest after her, he doesn't seem like he's really that vulnerable. So he could be right there.

Finally, congratulations to GF on episode 100 !!! That you have reached this milestone is a testament to your committment to constantly improving your Fanics and pleasing your many readers. I look forward to many more fantastic episodes to come!

There will be some excellent episodes later on this season, and I am definitely still very committed to my fanfics but my workload from other things (mainly school) is going up significantly and I fear that this season is going to end up dragging on a bit like Exile Island did. I hope not, but it might have to happen.

If Fang loses, I think Dan/Charlie/Paloma will go after Ace/Corinne. If it's Kota, I can see Bob/Jacquie/Marcus keeping Sugar and possibly Crystal because of her strenght and getting rid of GC.

I guess 100 is always a charm! I really liked the episode since it actually portrayed Matty in the way he should've been portrayed in the show, a whiner. Even though I wanted Sugar to go... Matty leaving kept me satisfied. For some reason, I really like Jacquie. She seems to be a more UTR character but she gets her time on the camera and has development which somehow makes me like her. On Fang, I really liked Corinne's meltdown mainly because it lead to Gillian being pushed in to the inner circle.

Thanks. Good to hear all of this, and I agree with you about Matty's portrayal. Good to know that you're liking Jacquie. She's definitely an UTR character right now. She'll have a few good moments in the story, but yeah, she's kindof cheerful even though she's low visibility. I definitely can't complain about her other than not being shown much.

I don't remember seeing Corinne or Ace having a strong relationship. Maybe I forgot some parts but can you clear this up? Corinne said she hated everyone but Ace but I don't remember her ever talking to Ace. I must've looked over it if she did.

Good question. They've been grouped together from the beginning, although I haven't really shown much of them, partly due to the focus on Charlie and Dan instead. But in Episode 1, they were part of the group that wanted to leave the mat immediately without getting all the supplies, and in Episode 3, we had the brief scene where Ace brought Corinne into the Powerhouse alliance. I had mentioned it a few times that Ace/Corinne had an alliance together before that point, although it wasn't really shown. So you're right that they haven't been shown much together, but they definitely do have an alliance/relationship and they're the negative pair around Fang right now.

Best episode so far. The reward challenge was great, tribal council voting was great and all the between stuff at Fang was really good.
