I can not wait for this season to start! Hell, I'm excited to see the tribes and Probst's predictions on who he thinks will go far in the game.

Can't wait! Looking forward to Tuesday...Thank you, CirieFieldsofDreams! It will go up fairly early in the morning - definitely less than 24 hours away. J Daviau: Alright gf, your fanfic has to ROCK now with the ending of this season we were just given.I have to admit that the real Gabon season was a pleasant surprise for me, as I didn't expect it to be anywhere near that good. Fortunately, I can say that I'm not too worried about that; I still have confidence in the characters/story of my own Gabon season and it should be very well-liked. Again, I'll say it's definitely better (and more consistently "good") than Micronesia. ETA: Oh, I just saw your post in another thread. I thought you liked the ending of Gabon and were saying that my ending had to be just as good. If you were disappointed in the real ending, hopefully you will like mine then. :) Thank you, Mman9000! You guys make me want to put up the first episode now, but I have to stick to the 29th. You will get a preview on Christmas though! Like I mentioned a few months ago, I'm going to try my hand at Edgic this season.Glad to hear this. The more people the better the ratings will be, and I can only hope that Edgic will not be as much of a failure/disaster for my own season as it turned out to be for the real show. We shall see, but as I always say, I want the winner to be someone who makes sense. Thanks for all the excitement and comments! :)

I can't wait for Tocantins to start! When are they revealing the cast? Hopefully soon. This would really be an inquiry for the Survivor 18+ forum, but the cast will most likely be revealed in early-mid January. It's usually about a month before the premiere and the premiere is February 12. This thread is for a fanfic and the tribe reveal I'm talking about has nothing to do with the actual season. Sorry for the confusion. |

I will reveal the tribes tonight
|
On another note, I'm going to put the tribes up tonight. I just have to get a new Geocities site set up - I have Jeff thought's and the images all
ready, so I'll just put it up tonight.
After I do that, there are three ways that I would like you guys to get involved with this story: 1) A Pre-Show Popularity Poll - My popularity graph has a spot for pre-show ratings. I know that most of you will rate them based on the show because you don't have much else to go on other than Jeff's thoughts. I would that some of you can think back to your original thoughts of the cast, but if not it's fine. 2) Voting in a poll "Which tribe are you rooting for" on Fantasy Games Central. 3) Questions for Press Conference - I'm basically going to re-ask all of the standard questions that have been in the previous conferences, but if you think of anything unique or specific to Gabon that you want answered, I will definitely include it. But I think after 3 seasons now, I have a good enough list to give some decent answers to. |

I went back to read your China and I loved it, I liked Micronesia too, except I was rooting for Aras's alliance, so yeah I was dissapointed with how things turned out lol. But it was still good! Can't wait to see the tribes. ;D |

JEFF PROBST'S THOUGHTS ON THE GABON CAST
|
Jeff Probst's Thoughts On The New Cast
Ace Gordon - 27 - Fashion Photographer - Naples, Florida
Jeff Probst: Ace is going to be an interesting character in that there's just something about him that's fun to watch. He grew up part of his life in London, so he still has an accent and that could make him stand out for good or bad. Another thing about Ace is that he's traveled all over the world; you know, he has outdoor skills, and some people in this game don't have that. That can be frustrating for somebody like Ace to deal with. Ace is very smart, but he's also very arrogant, and he could get himself in trouble if he doesn't watch it. Sometimes that doesn't sit well with people. On the other hand, the plus for Ace is that he does know the game. He's gonna be somebody who has no hesitations to do what it takes to win. He'll manipulate; he'll lie to you in a second and he'll stab you in the back even faster if it's, you know, if it's to his advantage. I think Ace is going to play the game like a "villain," and that's what we're expecting from him in putting him on the show. We're counting on him to make big moves, to betray a few people when he needs to, and to be a villain. I hope he doesn't disappoint.
Verdict: Ace has the potential to do well, but he can't win the game. He'll probably hate me for saying that, but there's no way he gets awarded the million dollars.
Charlie Herschel - 29 - Lawyer - New York, New York
Jeff Probst: Charlie is a nice guy; he's a lawyer so he's obviously very intelligent, very educated, and he's another guy this season who's a big fan of the show. That's gotta help because he knows the game and he's seen what mistakes people have made on the show before. Charlie's here to play. I think the best thing Charlie can do is get in the middle of a good alliance and just lay low for a bit at the start, because if he comes off as too strategic or too "into the game," that could make him a target.
Verdict: If I'm looking for somebody who might win the game, Charlie's somebody I'd look to.
Corinne Kaplan - 29 - Pharmaceutical Sales Rep. - Los Angeles, California
Jeff Probst: Corinne is coming into this game as the "bitch" of the season. Unlike a lot of the people on her tribe, she'd never seen Survivor; she's not a fan; she's quite open about the fact that she's not that into the experience; she doesn't care about the adventure, but she's here for the money. You know, she wants that million dollars just as much as everybody else, and the question for Corinne is going to be: does she keep that self-proclaimed bitchiness only in her confessionals or does she let it show at camp? And if she does, then she has to know that it's gonna be hard for her to win a jury vote, and one thing Corinne isn't, she's not dumb. She's very bright, and she's able to think on her feet and make quick decisions. She could do pretty well. I mean, looking at some of the other people on her tribe, she should have no problem making it to at least the switch, and probably the merge, and I hope to see her on the jury because I'm sure she'd have something to say to whoever's sitting in the Final Tribal. You know, I'd like to see her stick around, but we'll see if she has the motivation to see it through to the end and that she isn't the person saying "Survivor? So what…"
Verdict: Corinne won't win the game, but she will make it interesting while she's around.
Dan Kay - 32 - Lawyer - Walpole, Massachusetts
Jeff Probst: All things considered, Dan is somebody who should do well in this game. But the thing with Dan is that he's a little insecure, and I think that his reason for being here is more about self-discovery than it is about playing the game, and sometimes guys like that are in for a surprise. So the question for Dan is going to be: can he recover from it? You know, that's gonna determine whether he sinks or swims. I think Dan is coming into the game a bit naĂ¯ve, and probably a bit unprepared to deal with people who are a hell of a lot more cutthroat than he is. If he thinks being a nice guy who works hard and, you know, wins a couple challenge is going to cut it, he's in for a rude awakening - he won't win the game. Do all of that and make a few big games moves, then he could win the game, but I don't know that he'll see that.
Verdict: Tough call. He could last until the early phase of the merge, or he could get eaten alive quickly by people who are more greedy and more game-savvy than he is, cause there are more than a couple of them on his tribe. Just about every other guy on Fang has potential to be a big schemer, and I don't know if Dan's willing to play that.
Gillian Larson - 61 - Retired Nurse - Temecula, California
Jeff Probst: It's been a long journey for Gillian to get on Survivor. She's applied 15 times; she's been to our open castings, and finally she's here. She is incredibly overjoyed and sometimes that level of excitement can be exhausting. I think Gillian wants to do well in this game more than anything, and wants to believe that she can compete alongside 29 year-olds, but from my experience with Gillian, she's gonna come on so strong and with so much enthusiasm, that it's gonna get annoying fast. And in this game, something as simple as talking too much or not knowing when to shut up can be you're undoing. You know, people look for anything in those first couple Tribal Councils to get rid of somebody, and that's a reason. Plus Gillian is old. She's 61; oldest woman this season on a fairly young tribe, and that's never good.
Verdict: I would like to see Gillian stick around for a while because I think she's gonna be one of our big characters, but chances of her making the merge are slim to none.
Ken Hoang - 22 - Professional Video Game Player - Westminster, California
Jeff Probst: Kenny is one of the smallest guys we've ever had on the show, and that plays a big part in his strategy because he's coming into this game as an underdog and he wants to rely on being underestimated. You look at him and you think "There's no way this kid is gonna last!" Compared to most of the other guys this season, Ken looks weak, but he makes a good point in that if he can get to the merge, those are the guys that are gonna have the targets, not him. He also prides himself on being a strategist. You know, first professional video game player that we've ever had on the show and apparently video games relates to playing Survivor because of the manipulation that goes on. Having a mental game is one thing, but the question for Ken is gonna be: can he hack it? Can he hack the physical part? I mean, this is a guy who can't even weight 100 pounds and with not a lot of food and very grueling challenges, he could just fade out fast. This is somebody who has no outdoor experience; he has no idea what he's getting into in terms of the physical part, and he's gonna have an uphill battle, I think.
Verdict: Sadly, I think our "video gamer" is going to be one of the first to go from his tribe just based on strength and size.
Michelle Chase - 24 - Music Production Assistant - Los Angeles, California
Jeff Probst: Michelle Chase is a boxer from Los Angeles. She also founded a charity, and she's been through a lot in 24 years. Just looking at that, you'd think that her life experience is gonna help her on Survivor, but the more I see of Michelle, I don't think she has the skills for this game, and I'm not sure if it's in her attitude or what it is. Physically, I think she has it, but in terms of the game and the social aspect of forming bonds and making alliances, I just don't think she has what it takes. And I hope she takes that as a challenge and proves me wrong, because she's a bit of a spitfire and I think she could make it fun if she lasts.
Verdict: I have a feeling I'll be snuffing Michelle's torch out pretty early. If I'm wrong and she gets deep, she could be a real threat because she's strong and she could do some damage in the individual challenges.
Paloma Soto-Castillo - 24 - Student / Waitress - Downey, California
Jeff Probst: Paloma is one of a few people this season who I'm not really sure about. Just in watching her these first few days before the game, she's really quiet and you can't help but wonder about somebody like that, if they're gonna be able to last. There's a lot of questions I have with her that I haven't been able to answer. You know, I'm not sure how she's gonna do in the challenges; I'm not sure what her strategy is gonna be; I'm not sure if she's just gonna look for somebody to hang on to and have them pull her along. I have no idea. One thing I like about Paloma is that she has a personal connection to Africa. She spent some time in Kenya with a group of kids and one of the things she wants to do with the money she wins from the show is to build them a school because they don't have an actual building, and those are always nice stories for people to get behind. I think having that deep personal connection is gonna help motivate her to push on, but I'm not sure that she won't be out early as a weak link.
Verdict: Paloma's somebody that I'm on the fence about. Can she make it to the merge? I think it'd be a long shot.
Randy Bailey - 49 - Wedding Videographer - Eagle Rock, Missouri
Jeff Probst: Randy is one-of-a-kind. We've never had a guy like Randy on the show before and I doubt we ever will again. He's had a hard life; he doesn't have a lot of friends; doesn't have any living relatives, and he's chosen to live a life where he doesn't really have to interact with a lot of people. Yet he comes to Survivor and he's potentially one of the greatest characters we've ever seen on the show, certainly in the last few seasons. I think we're gonna be counting on Randy to bring a lot of drama this season. I mean, he can be funny; he can be sarcastic; he can be annoying. My hope is that he'll be all of those things and he won't hold back and he'll tell someone off when he feels like it. That's what I hope we get from Randy, but at the same time, he gets the game. Like Gillian, I think he's applied something like fifteen times, and as we know on Survivor, telling someone off to their face is not always the best strategy for someone looking to win a million dollars. So I'm a little torn between whether I want a few good episodes of Randy and then have him voted out early for him being a complete [censored], or if I'd rather him last the whole season and maybe not be as in-your-face. I think it all depends on how much he can tone it down and how much he wants to win the game. If he's able to see that "Gosh, I better step back right about now" or "I need to shut up because these people are ready to kill me," then he could be around for a while. If he can't, I'll be snuffing him early. Verdict: My prediction, he won't be able to hold back, and it'll get him voted out some time before the merge. I give him a few Tribal Councils before he becomes very disliked, and then he'll be gone soon after that.
Bob Crowley - 57 - Physics Teacher - South Portland, Maine
Jeff Probst: Bob is a high school physics teacher from Maine, so he knows how to deal with people who are quite a bit younger than he is, which is most of the people on his tribe, and that experience should come in handy on Survivor. I think Bob's probably one of the most likeable people in this cast. His big strategy is to fly under the radar, work hard at camp, and help make life more comfortable for his tribe, and I think that could work to his advantage. He's got a lot of skills in 57 years that are gonna be extremely useful and that these other people don't have. This is somebody who built a cabin out of recycled material for crying out loud! You can't tell me that's not valuable! I hope Bob is around for a while because he brings something different to this season. He's kinda an underdog favorite of mine; I hope he does well.
Verdict: As long as his tribe isn't stupid enough to vote him out early, I think Bob could go far, but Bob won't win. I don't think he has it in him to play this game the way it needs to be played.
Crystal Cox - 29 - Former Olympic Gold Medalist - Durham, North Carolina
Jeff Probst: Crystal is without a doubt one of the biggest characters that we've had on the show in a long time, and I think a lot of people at home are gonna like her. She's genuine. Crystal has a huge personality and you can tell that it's real; none of it is put on. Crystal is somebody who always has something to say; she doesn't care who's listening, and she's an outspoken, emotional person; she will tell you right to your face if she likes you or not; and that makes her somebody who you want to watch. There's always one or two "go-to" characters on each season and Crystal is without question one of them for Gabon. She's the person that, if things are a little dull, I'll look to her to speak her mind at Tribal Council, or maybe say something at a challenge, and I think she'll deliver. I think her being an Olympic champion is going to put a lot of pressure on her because there's an expectation for her to do well in all the challenges, and I think she knows going in that she's gonna be put under a microscope. The biggest thing for Crystal is gonna be: does anybody know who she is? She's smart enough and she knows enough about the game to say "There's no way I'm gonna tell anyone that I was in the Olympics. Are you crazy?!" but does that mean that somebody won't recognize her? That I don't know. I mean, she's tough, and if she can get to the individual part of the game, there's a lot of guys who would be afraid to go up against her in a challenge.
Verdict: As soon as somebody finds out she's an Olympic champion, if anybody does, she'll be made short work of because that is a huge threat in this game. If she can keep that side of her under wraps, I think she could do okay. Crystal is here to play the game, and I think she's up for it.
Danny "G.C." Brown - 26 - Maintenance Supervisor- Portland, Oregon
Jeff Probst: Danny, whose going by G.C. on the show, is a bit of a wild card for me in this sense: he claims to camp and to be able to fish and to do all these things, but he's a bit like Michelle in that he's had a hard life and I don't know if he's skilled socially enough to be able to do well at this game. One thing I have to say to his credit is he's watched the show. You know, we didn't go looking for him; he applied, so he must know the game on some level, but the thing that could really hurt G.C. is if he's become so independent in his life that he can't work well within a tribe. And that's what I see happening with him because he's lived a life where he's been homeless and he's been through boot camp and he's had to learn to take care of himself, and I don't think he's the kind of person who'll respond well if you tell him what to do. So I think his big question is gonna be: how will he integrate with the group?
Verdict: I don't think G.C.'s gonna be around very long in this game. I think he'll last a few days just because they'll be weaker people to get rid of, but his name's gonna be on the list of people to go sooner rather than later.
Jacquie Berg - 25 - Medical Sales Rep. - Santa Barbara, California
Jeff Probst: Jacquie is a little bit like Alexis from last season in that she's young and cute; she's a sweetheart, and yet she plays to win and she's tough. You know, she's not gonna back down in a physical challenge or play for second place. And she gets the game. She's also like Alexis in the sense that she's un-offensive, and we've seen it before with some of the young women on the show: as long as they can get into a good alliance, they're almost guaranteed a spot in the merge because nobody's gonna be looking to eliminate them. They're strong enough to help in the challenges, but not strong enough to be a threat. They're playing the game, but they're not a huge strategic player, and I think that's what Jacquie is. I think she'll find a way to stay somewhere in the middle; she'll play her cards when she has to, and I expect Jacquie to go far. Unless she ends up on the wrong side of a twist or switch, or she does something really stupid, which, you never know, um, I don't expect to be snuffing her out anytime soon.
Verdict: If she gets in the right alliance, she could probably coast to the Final Four simply by doing nothing and looking cute, but she can't win the game that way. If she's here to play and she makes some big-time moves, it wouldn't surprise me if I'm handing her a million bucks a couple months from now.
Jessica "Sugar" Kiper - 29 - Pin-up Model / Actress - Brooklyn, New York
Jeff Probst: Jessica, or Sugar, is a pin-up model and she's also an actress who's not gonna tell anyone she's an actress because she doesn't want them to think she's a liar. This is gonna be interesting to watch her because if you look at her, you're thinkin' "You'll never make it out there. You're gonna fade on Day One," but at the same time, you can't help but root for her. You want her to do well, and I think there might be a little more to her than people are gonna see at first glance. There's no doubt that Sugar will break down. Sugar will cry, because she's emotional and that's who she is. That can either be incredibly annoying or incredibly endearing, and if she does last for a while, she has to earn some respect for proving everybody wrong because I guarantee that she'll be underestimated.
Verdict: I think she has a personal reason for being here and I think that she could be a fighter. She might surprise some people, including me.
Kelly Czarnecki - 22 - Sales Manager - Chicago, Illinois
Jeff Probst: Kelly is going to be a lot of fun to have on the show because as much as she wants to think that she gets the game, I don't think she does, and that can be fun to watch because she's not gonna be sophisticated when it comes to strategy. Kelly can also be very entertaining, yet she doesn't know it because it's just her personality or it's funny things she says that don't make sense and she has no idea what she's saying. So I think she could bring some humor to this season, maybe unintended. Kelly is also one of our quote unquote "hot" girls this season, and I wouldn't be surprised if flirting entered into her game at some point with guys like Matty or Marcus. I think Kelly will probably make it past the first couple Tribal Councils just by blending in, but if she wants to get to the merge, you know, and beyond, she's gonna have to start playing a strategic game, get an alliance, and hang on for dear life because when it comes down to it, Survivor is about getting rid of people and she could be one of those easy people to get rid of.
Verdict: Kelly is either going to be someone who goes fairly early because she can't handle it or she's gonna be someone who gets dragged to the end for an extra vote.
Marcus Lehman - 28 - Doctor - Atlanta, Georgia
Jeff Probst: Marcus is a physician from Atlanta, who was voted Cosmo's Hottest Bachelor of the Year for Georgia. On paper, everything about him seems good and he seems to have a lot going for him: you know, he's young; he's good-looking; he's well-spoken; he's incredibly smart; incredibly accomplished; and he's got a great handle on this game. Marcus could end up playing everybody because he's very sharp, and he gets it. He's also a physically fit guy, probably second to Matty. You know, he could be seen as a threat or he could be a quiet leader. It depends how much about his life he lets on because everything about him that can be considered a strength in this game can also be considered a weakness [threat], and that goes back to what I was saying about Kenny. I think Marcus' best bet is going to be downplaying all of his strengths and not letting anyone know that he's a physician; you know, not let anyone know he went to Harvard, because all of those are threats, and if he becomes too threatening, they're just gonna hold onto him for a while and then get rid of him shortly after the merge.
Verdict: I think Marcus will go very far in this game, but he won't win because they won't let him get anywhere near the finals.
Matty Whitmore - 29 - Personal Trainer - Pacific Palisades, California
Jeff Probst: Matty's a big question mark to me. I like him; I think the viewers are gonna like him, but I don't know how he's gonna do in the game. He's not well-versed in Survivor, and he makes decisions not based on strategy, but based on Matty and who Matty is. You know, he doesn't want to have to think and analyze situations in the game because that stresses him out. He knows he makes mistakes, and you know what? That's okay. He's okay with that. I think Matty's a little bit like Dan in that he's coming in to this not so much for the strategic part of the game but to learn something about himself. What Matty has going for him in the game is his strength. Obviously, he's very physically fit; he's a personal trainer, and I'm hoping that keeps him on the show a while. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do and if he starts to figure out the game, because if Matty can do that, and if Matty can figure out a strategy, he could be a legitimate threat.
Verdict: Matty should have no problem getting to the merge, because he's athletic, he has a lot of strength and I think his tribe is gonna
need it.
Susie Smith - 47 - Hairstylist - Charles City, Iowa
Jeff Probst: Susie, Susie, Susie. Susie is a hair dresser from Iowa, and she's also an English teacher. She's one of the biggest fans on the show this season, and she wants to set an example for her son that he can do anything he sets his mind to if he tries. I think Susie is fun; you know, she has some spunk to her, but I'm not sure what skills she's gonna bring to a tribe to make people want to keep her around. She might even be weaker physically than Gillian, so she's gonna have to rely entirely on her social game quickly, and unfortunately, I think Susie, like Gillian, is going to be annoying; she's going to talk a lot and it wouldn't surprise me if Susie talks her way right off the show because people just get sick and tired of listening to her.
Verdict: The only way Susie makes it anywhere in this game is by getting in an alliance quickly and blending in after that.
Jeff Probst: So those are my predictions for Survivor: Gabon - Earth's Last Eden. I'm going with Charlie and Jacquie as my picks to win: one guy, one girl. Last season I picked Earl; you saw how that turned out, so there's my track record. You know, I'm excited to see how it plays out. I think if we get a little bit of luck, we could have another great season. And I hope you guys enjoy it…

Pre-Show Popularity Poll
|
Now that the tribes are up, let's get things started:
Please participate in the pre-show Popularity poll by rating each castaway from 1-10. 1 is the lowest and ten is the highest. I will post the results before the December 29. I know you will have to base these a little bit on what the castaways were like on the show and that's okay since these are only pre-ratings, but please try to think back to your original opinions of the cast, if possible. Ace - Bob - Charlie - Corinne - Crystal - Dan - G.C. - Gillian - Jacquie - Kelly - Ken - Marcus - Matty - Michelle - Paloma - Randy - Sugar - Susie - Thank you very much for your replies to this poll. I look forward to having you all involved with the upcoming season, and I hope you all enjoy it. Take care! :) |

As much as I think Bob and Crystal would be hilariously interesting, I think Fang is more diverse and unique. I mean, 5 pretty young people who're basically ONLY pretty and young on Kota kinda spells doom for that tribe, unless we get some CrystalOWNAGE. |

I'd definitely prefer you to just post the first two episodes separately. It often takes me around 3 hours to read and comment on each episode with how I
often write up detailed posts for each episode, and these days with my busy schedule it's hard to find that kind of time unless it's a Saturday. I
don't want it to take even longer then your finales for me to read and comment on the episode (as for the finales I only have 4 or 5 people to rate, not
18).
