Waitress will win a ton of Independant Spirit Awards...you can bet on that one. They're the best movie awards anyway.

Surprising that Atonement got seven noms! I mean this movie was really not more than a B aka 3 star movie to almost every one of the critics, but now it's
the most nominated? Very interesting. But I haven't had a chance to see it so I'm not judging. One little thing, from the previews Atonement looked
almost as good as The Golden Compass yet only cost 30mil to make supposedly, I'm betting we see lots of noms for technical stuff at The Oscars too.
On the TV front, I hope Extra's wins for best TV Comedy, I really love 30 Rock but Extra's is brilliant too. I've been catching up with it on DVD, I'm glad I did. |

For those who love the series The Tudors probably embrace revisionist history. If the writer's stuck to what actualy happened -- accurate -- then I would
say the series was "decent."
Nontheless, since they essentially re-wrote history thus making the era a completely farce and sexed up the series for ratings then, I will stand by my claim that the show isutter shit. Furthermore, JRM is completely miscast as Henry VIII. The actor, Steve Waddingham, who played The Duke of Buckingham should have been cast in the lead. Besides his remarkable resemblance to Henry, Steve Waddingham is a strong convining actor to play the great 'ole king. FYI, here is a small list of major inaccuracies: 1. The murder of Henry's "uncle". Why did they have to create a relative and have him murdered by French hands? That never happened, and yet Henry still had reasons for going to war with France. I would rather see what his real reasons were. Why couldn't the show have had both sisters Mary and Margaret - so they could at least have put the right events with the right sister. 2. Thomas Tallis appears to have no conection with the plot and didn't appear at court until after Ann Boleyn was beheaded. So what's he doing there? 3. The alterations made in regards to Henry VIII's sisters, I find quite annoying. I find it highly unnecessary. I assume the changes were made due to the fact that Henry VIII had a daughter named Mary and a sister also with this name and they did not want the two to be confused. Yet I don't think the audience would be as silly to confuse these two; Mary Tudor, Henry's daughter, was hardly in this whilst 'Margaret' got more scenes, and there are several Thomas's on the show who are sometimes referred to by their first names instead of their titles yet no one is confused by this. And of course by omitting one sister they have basically rewriting history. I assume the Stewarts don't exist considering we never hear of them and if we have no James V, and therefore Mary I of Scotland and James VI, then I wonder who will inherit the English throne in 1603. |

The Tudors. | ||

Because they're more focusing on Henry being the "rock star" of the time and JRM is sexy(in MY opinion).
Just like why Ann Boleyn is cast as beautiful when historically, she most certainly was not. It's never claimed to be accurate historically. I have tons of books on history if I want to read the accurate version. I just enjoy the show. |

^Agreed Wolcott. I enjoy the show for what it is, not really the history aspect of it. I noticed the inaccuracies in it too, but it's just a show.

Yes, McWolcott, I understand that, but Steve Waddingham is young and fit enough to play Henry VIII prior to him blowing up and essentially turning into a fat
old pig. As for the actress who plays Anne, no comment.
I guess in the end... to each his/her own. If you enjoy the series, more power to you. I don't. I find it beyond irrtating. Perhaps, its because I am spoiled. I adored the BBC version, Six Wives of Henry VIII starring Keith Mitchell, Annette Crosbie, and Dorothy Tutin as Anne Boleyn (she was ugly enough to play Anne plus she is a good actress.) :) edited out something that was pointless.

Yay for Viggo and Johnny Depp getting noms!! I've loved JD since the Jump Street days, but I'd like to fuck Viggo in every posistion imaginable.
I'm a Grey's fan, but it getting nominated is a joke. And Heigl being the only acting nom? And no Lost noms? Fucked up. |

Across the Universe got nominated because the Foreign Press adores Julie Taymor. That's that.

Grey's is so over rated these days. This season is better than last, but it certainly doesn't deserve any awards.
