I really think that a lot of people's Kate and "freebie" hatred comes out of jealousy that they didn't get to take any cool trips as a kid or couldn't take their kids. I grew up in a family that always took nice trips growing up - does that make me horrible? I don't think so, maybe more fortunate (and J and K certainly are), but I guarantee a majority of the naysayers would jump on a free family trip in a second if given the chance.

My dad was in the Canadian Armed Forces, and we were posted to Europe twice. I got to travel all over Europe and a bit of Asia too, so my anger does not come from jealousy.

My anger comes from watching two clueless parents act like their words and actions are not impacting their 8 adorable children. I get angry when I see Kate scream at and belittle her family, then sit on a couch and say "Well, if only Jon had asked me how he can help me". Because nothing is ever her fault. And yet this woman is worshipped as a terrific mother!

I do appreciate that having 8 children is not easy, but I think they make it more difficult than it has to be, with Kate's OCDness about messes, and Jon's desire to just get away and do his own thing. Look at the beach trip last week - they whined about how hard it was to walk a block and a half, from the beach house that someone else surely paid for, to the beach with 8 kids. It wasn't a crowded public beach, they didn't have to walk through a crowded parking lot with cars driving hither, thither or yon. There were other people there, staying at the nearby beach houses, but it was nothing! Yet, they practically expected a medal for walking a block and a half.
