People compare Oblivion to Fable all the time, but Fable is better imo.
I said the same thing about Oblivion being overrated but it sucked me in after you exit the sewers. |

Fable II is one of the sloppiest RPGs I've ever played. I have never read or heard anyone compare it to Oblivion. In its defense, at least it was short.
Oblivion is one of those games you can put as much or as little effort into as you like. Just exploring the world is fun. Tackling the main quest is very challenging though, I think. But it isn't much fun upping your stats by endlessly swimming in a lake or blocking feeble hits from a rodent. |

They're both open-ended RPGs. I got bored of Fable II in like 5 minutes but the original was amazing.
The Shivering Isles is one of the best side quests in Oblivion however. |

I was the opposite; I got bored of the original but slogged through Fable II. Not sure why though, it was never better than mediocre.

The Fable series is terribly over-hyped and under-delivered but I still had fun following the original storyline.

I don't like Oblivion so far. I always get squashed by the enemies when I try to do all these zillion sidequests. They are always too tough for my
character. Perhaps if the game said which quests I should do first to level up for the harder ones I would like it more.

Just remember, the enemies level up with you. You can make the game real easy by sliding the difficulty slider all the way to easy mode and kill creatures in a
few hits. It made the game much more enjoyable and more time to explore without fear of dying.

It's hard to miss, just check the Options menu next time you play and it should be somewhere around there.
The game has tons of bugs so always keep a backup file or 2 in case the game decides to be an ass and prevent you from completing some quests. This wiki also has info on all the game's quests to help you. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Oblivion |
