I'm going to do the Top 25 Idol contestants and it's going to include contestants from a bunch of different Idol shows. I haven't narrowed the field to 25 yet but I'm going to post the thread and give details right now.

I was going to steal louie's idea but I'm too lazy to actually look for 100 performances with videos so I'm taking inspiration from his idea and
making my own list.

82.Steffi D - Life on Mars (Canadian Idol 4)
It's our first appearance from everyone's favorite cutie Steffi Didomenicantonio. And this performance is just as theatrical, over the top and wonderful as she is. As Zach said, it was very much like a rock opera. This won't be the last time you are seeing her on this list, but for now enjoy this. 81.Valerie Caston - Encore et Encore, One (French Idol 4) Your first entry with a bonus performance! This was the odd one I was talking about. I don't think many people ever liked Valerie, but i found her fascinating. And she made me like songs in another language which no one had ever done before. She is totally not your typical Idol contestant, she sings with a more hip-hop infused style, but for her it works. The reason i'm posting two here is cause for the first half of the season she basically sang only in French, it was clear she was not good with the English language at all. Which is why when she sang her first English song and did it halfway decent it made it even more amazing. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but i think it deserved a spot on the list. Ok, so ill let people catch up with the rest of these overnight and do 80 through 71 tomorrow. Which features 2 whole American Idol performances. What a rarity.

Wow, that Steffi D song was short! Starts soft builds, builds, crescendo, and she's done! Cool.
Don't understand why Valerie Caston is on here at all. I thought she really sucked in both languages... Guess you have to be French... I'm excited to see who else you come up with! This really is such a great thing to see great performances from all the different shows in one place. Great job! |

CI really needs to take a page from Oz and let the contestants sing the whole damn song. Cut the worthless host/jurges chit-chat and on with the singing.

That's definitely something I can agree with rb on. I've always liked how Aussie Idol let's them sing a much bigger portion of the song for their
performances and how the judges don't just ramble on and on.
I hate listening to Zack or Jake just ramble on about bs after I only got to hear like a minute of the person singing. |

Doesn't anyone else feels concerned that Louie remembers all of this? I only watch CI and I can barely remember the season that aired this summer.

I just remembered what I liked, I had to read performance lists to jog my memory of what was what though. I've wanted to do this for a while but didn't
think anyone would care really, i'm glad some of you do!
In other news, does Matt Hoffer remind anyone else of the lead singer of Keane. He looks a whole lot like him and kind of sounds like him too. |

It still bothers me that everyone thinks Katherine McPhee is some genius performer and amazing singer with her "original" performance of
"Somewhere Over The Rainbow" when all she did was completely rip-off Jane Monheit's version; it's exactly the same to a tee. Every single
inflection, word changes, and that chilling opening - none of those were Katherine's idea. She was able to pull this off because no one knows who the hell
Jane is, but it's still bullshit because some people (like me) have loved that version forever. That performance, and the hype people created around it,
truly solidified my hatred for Katherine McPhee.
Now go download Jane Monheit's version of "Rainbow" and hear for yourself. |

I always assumed it was a attempt to rip off Eva Cassidy, but i'll take your word for it on this one.
Either way, I knew it wasn't of her own doing. |

I'm pretty sure I heard Katharine say in some interview that it was some other chicks version of that song and she liked it so she did it that way or
something.
She never tried to take credit for that shit like Daughtry did with "I Walk the Line" for example. |

And so we begin
80.Blake Lewis - When The Stars Go Blue (American Idol 6) Shocker, I chose this over Somewhere Only We Know and You Give love a Bad Name. I just enjoyed it more. And i loved the fact that it was country night and he clearly wasn't singing anything remotely country. Yes, Tim Mcgraw did do a version of it, however Blake was doing the best version of it which is the Ryan Adams version. I figured he would as soon as i saw his song choice and it was nice to have that payoff on the Tuesday night. So this is the obligatory Blake entry 79.Suzanne Manning - Ironic (Pop Idol 2) I've never been a fan of the early seasons of Idol. The originals with you. Simon didn't seem to be open to anything other than pop, and everybody came off as really contrived to me. Except for one person, and that is Suzanne. She is by far my favorite to ever come out of thats show. I really could have had 5 of her performances on this list, but I managed to cut it down to 2. This is the first of them, doing a great version of a great Alanis song. There's the first two of the day. I'll post more shortly...after I do homework |

Ok this is a fun duo here
78.Lee Harding - Roxanne (Australian Idol 3) I know you all just sighed and rolled your eyes at the same time. I know you did! But I don't care. I like Lee Harding and i'm not afraid to admit it. Call him a poser all you like, say he can't sing, that's fine. But I will continue to like him. Does it bother me that his main fanbase is 13 year old girls? Not at all, I will gladly go to a Lee concert and rock out amongst the masses. Don't let them change you Lee! You keep being you! Keep the pink hair and the emo clothes, you keep changing classic songs to your wonderful punk rock style. The haters will never get it, but I do. I so do 77.Carly Rae Jepsen - Come to My Window (Canadian Idol 5) Oh no, will all debate cease not what Carly's position has been unveiled. She did get 77 though which is a very special number. And shc you did correctly predict the song. Bonus points for you! Honestly, much like someone you will see in the next posting she never lived up to what I expected her to be. I had such high hopes for her after her audition and her performance in Toronto of Breathe which was just spell-binding. But really, none of her performances on the main stage ever recaptured that magic. Nonetheless she was still good and one of the best for the season. And this was my favorite of her's, cause she took a song we all know and Carlyfied it. |

That's definitely the shittiest performance on this list so far, Ironic, not Carly Rae's.
No one from Pop Idol 2 could have been that impressive, they canceled the show after it even though the original Pop Idol was a mega success and spawned like 30 something shows worldwide. The winner sucked and I'm sure everyone else did too. This Susanne chick certainly does. What do I win louie? I knew that was the Carly Rae performance you'd put on the list.

I was going to say that even though the performance is shitty I don't see why anyone wouldn't be able to understand her. I mean she's British not like fucking Arabic or something, it's not as if she has a thick, foreign accents. Like wtf? Are English accents foreign to Americans? |
