It tried with this show, but Whedon is so "cult" specific that networks really can't work with such a small audience. I mean, you can't really argue that they didn't try to publicize this. They did. They put it with a show to make a good companion block...what else could they have done?

Fox bought and paid for anal sex and 13 hours of Dollhouse (from sister company 20th Century Fox), one of which turned out to be the scrapped pilot that Whedon wound up reshooting. Which means Day's episode, "Epitaph One," is the 14th -- which the network didn't buy. And isn't going to buy. "We currently do not have plans to air 'Epitaph One,'" says a Fox source, who added that this decision does not reflect the network's feelings about the show or whether Dollhouse will be renewed. An official announcement about Dollhouse's possible return for next season will be made at the network's upfronts in May. But don't be too sad, Whedonites. The episode will be on the DVD, and as far as the show's mythology goes, "Epitaph One" is, according to the source, less a conclusion and more of a branch into another direction: "'Omega' was and is the proper season finale."

That pretty much tells you the future of this show, when they aren't even going to spend any money on episodes that have already been filmed, let alone ordering new episodes for next season.

Posts: 2444 (04/10/09 8:08 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Awesome episode tonight - from Echo further evolving in her doll state, November delivering a message to Ballard, Dewitt being the women behind Lonely Hearts, Sierra being a kick-ass spy, and Dominick being revealed as the man on the inside (should have seen it coming but Ivy's red herring fooled me) and then getting his mind wiped, so much stuff was packed into one hour. It's a shame that this won't go on because it has a lot of promise and the execution has been great in these last few episodes.

Surprised that Adelle was the one raping Victor but maybe not so much since she is the grandmaster pimp daddy. I'm sure Dominick would be back at some point if the show were continuing, given the storage and all. Odds on this one transitioning to comic book form as well?
