Norwegian Idol decided to take like an entire year's break in between the amazing season 4 and the current season, but now it's back!!!! They made a lot of adjustments to the format. Instead of having 6 weeks of semi-finals, they adopted the current Australian Idol style of semi-finals with a top 24 of semi-finalists split into 4 groups of 6 with the top 2 vote-getters of each group advancing! Then, there was a wildcard show with the top 2 vote-getters advancing once again! YAY! Boo to it only being a top 10 though. They also switched some judges, got a HUGE stage, the age limit was RAISED TO 35, and the results shows were tweaked or something! Now onto the finalists! Group 1: Bjørn Johan Muri (22%) & Isabella Leroy (35%) Isabella Leroy - "My Heart Still Moves" by... I'm not sure... Might be an original? Can't find video of Bjorn Johan's performance anywhere. Group 2: Glenn Lyse & Timian Ripnes Naastad (vote percentages undisclosed... i think) Glenn Lyse - "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley Timian Ripnes Naastad - "Wakeup call" by...once again, I think it's an original? Group 3: Kim Rune Hagen (35%) & Anne Roalkvam (22%) Kim Rune Hagen - "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson Anne Roalkvam - "Soulmate" by Natasha Beddingfield Group 4: Linda Steen (44%) & Marius Barhaugen (dunno his percentage) Linda Steen - "A Woman's Worth" by Alicia Keys Marius Barhaugen - "Chariot" by Gavin Degraw Wildcard: Linnea Dale (dunno the percentage) & Åste Hunnes Sem (44%) Aste Hunnes Sem - "Survivor" by Destiny's Child (Originally sang "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt in group 3) Linnea Dale - "Yellow" by Coldplay (Originally sang "What Do I Know About Love? by ...I think it was an original... in group 2) Finalists: 1. Theme: Your Idol (Meaning, the contestants' own personal musical idols) Up first: 1. Anne Roalkvam - "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder My response: My beloved Anne bombed. This performance was horrible and karaoke. Why Anne, Why!?!?!?! 2. Timian Ripnes Naastad - "Yesterday" by The Beatles My response: WTF was this crap? Unheartfelt, his tone sounded like Daniel Kublbock from DSDS (if anybody knows that reference, tell me you hear it, too), and he's boring. Of couse because I hate him, he'll last to the end. roll eyes 3. Glenn Lyse - "Here I Go Again" by White Snake My response: Whitesnake is his idol?... Really?... Anyways, the performance was great. He has a really rough growling sound and I love it! It doesn't sound abrasive to me like other singers with similar growls sound. He's awesome! 4. Linnea Dale - "Both Sides Now" by Joni Mitchell My response: What a mature song choice by such a young singer. Her tone is very interesting, but she lacks a bit of technique. Overall, it was a little boring, but I really enjoyed it. Also, I have to add, what a stunningly beautiful young lady! She's so cute. 5. Mariius Barhaugen - "Don't Dream, It's Over" by Crowded House My response: Interesting idol... Dunno how popular they were in Norway during their time, but total one-hit wonder in America. Marius is good-looking, he's got decent vocals, he's kinda boring... Fangirls will love him. Everyone else will hate him. 6. Aste Hunnes Sem - "Saving All My Love For You" by Whitney Houston My response: SING IT SISTA! I loved this! Her tone is beautiful and she commands attention. I hope she stays around for a while. 7. Isabella Leroy - "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morisette My response: I'm a little let down by Isabella. I felt like she was really nervous and she didn't rock out enough. I loved the first half of the performance, but the second half of the chorus was all over the place... I still love her tone. 8. Bjorn Johan Muri - "Everything" by Michael Buble My response: The performance was pleasant, but I find him really forgettable. I dunno... this performance had its moments, but overall it didn't leave much of an impression on me. 9. Kim Rune Hagen - "Burning" by Cue (I have no idea who Cue is... perhaps a Norwegian artist/band) My response: Mini-Kurt!!!! His tone is fantastic especially for being so young! I thought the song choice was great for him and he really worked it. The Carmen Rasmussen goat vibrato might get a little annoying in future performances, but for now, I like it. Great job! 10. Linda Steen - "Underneath Your Clothes" by Shakira My response: Shakira hair does NOT suit her at all, but she's a beautiful girl and I'm kinda happy she at least tried to pull off something fun like that. Now, onto the actual performance... I LOVED IT! Linda is fantastic! The starting verse and the chorus were fantastic. The bridge was a little iffy, but she ended on a fantastic note. She's great! My ranking of the top 10 show: 1. Aste 2. Linda 3. Kim Rune 4. Glenn 5. Bjorn Johan 6. Isabella 7. Linnea 8. Marius 9. Anne 10. Timian The Verdict: Spoiler [+] The only minority contestant in the finals, Anne Roalkvam, was eliminated in 10th place. cries Taking voting lessons from Canada, Norway!?!?� Hold me, DC! I'm so disappointed! Her semi-finals performance was my absolute fav, but she really bombed here. I feel like she chose the wrong song and perhaps with a better Stevie song for her, she would have stayed. She had so much potential. �There was no bottom 3, just an elimination. But yeah, I'm crying with you. WTF is this shit?!?! RACIST! Why you hatin' on the minorities, Norway? Embrace them. Immigrants are the future of Europe. That Stevie song choice was totally wrong for her, but Anne was amazingly talented and had so much potential. <3 I must have played that video of "Soulmate" like 30 times this past week. I love that song, and the way Anne sang it touched me like no other. OMG, she was so ROBBED. UGH. Sweden, Australia, Norway... my Idol goddesses have been dropping like flies lately. If my South African girl gets the axe soon, I may just go hang myself. Of the ones left, I definitely like Aste the best. She's really a black diva on the inside. "Survivor" was decent enough (Paulini's was better), but the Whitney song was fantastic. Linda has a great voice as well.

You know I loved "Soulmate" as well. I'm just so disappointed that she's the first person gone. I have found new love in Aste and Linda though. I'm betting on Linda to win the whole thing. Can you believe she's just 17, dawg!?!? JUST 17!! I thought she was much older the first time I saw her.

Glenn Lyse -� "Stayin' Alive" by the Beegees My response: I loved it. He surprised me because I thought he was gonna suck it, but he totally worked it. 2. Marius Barhaugen - "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang My response: OMG, is this the same Marius!?!? I thought it was awesome! He finally proved to me that he does have a fantastic voice. He sang an awful song, but he sounded great. 3. Linnea Dale - "Murder on the Dance Floor" by Sophie Ellis Baxter My response: vomits This sucked... I'm gonna cut her some slack though. Disco totally isn't her theme. I think she showed some potential for some successful upbeat songs in the future though. I'd like to see her go upbeat again. I do have to add that I liked the way she danced/moved. She looked great. She is seriously one of the most beautiful Idol contestants ever. 4. Linda Steen - "Flashdance!... What a Feeling" by Irene Cara My response: It was kind of amateurish. It was kind of cutesy. It's probably Linda's worst performance so far. It wasn't bad by any means, it just wasn't great. She always seemed like she wanted to get ahead of the beat. Regardless, her natural tone sounded good. 5. Bjorn Johan Muri - "Sex Bomb" by Tom Jones My response: This was certainly an interesting song choice, but I have to say that I was very impressed by Bjorn Johan this week. His vocals sounded great and I was actually entertained. On the downside, he looked very uncomfortable on stage. Maybe he was nervous. 6. Isabella Leroy - "Rock With You" by Michael Jackson My response: I have a word in mind that describes this performance perfectly: Underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either. It was interesting watching Isabella actually work the stage and smile and stuff. She sounded ok... no real big clunker notes... I dunno, it was ok. 7. Kim Rune Hagen - "I Was Made For Loving You" by Kiss My response: I love this guy more and more each week! He really surprises me! He started running out of steam halfway through, but overall I loved this performance and I also have to add that I love the way he prances around the stage. It's so funny looking. 8. Timian Ripnes Naastad - "September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire My response: This was such shit... Pure shit. He should have chosen a different song. Oh, and just wait until the end of the performance.... AHHHHHHHH! I felt embarassed for him! 9. Aste Hunnes Sem - "Blame It On the Boogie" by The Jacksons My response: WORK IT!!!!!!!!! Omg this was FLAWLESS! GO ASTE! She's really showing Norway how big of a mistake they almost made by not voting her through the first time around. Overall, I think Aste and the men worked it with Timian bringing up the rear. My ranking of the top 9 show: 1. Aste (second week in a row for me) 2. Kim Rune 3. Glenn 4. Bjorn Johan 5. Marius 6. I feel like Isabella had so much more to give... She really didn't bring it in the finals though. WTF at Linda in the bottom 3!?!?!?! That's crap! And Marius was bottom 3 after I thought he was great... It figures. I have the worst luck like that... Timian's days are numbered.
