Dead Like Me, the much loved and prematurely canceled dramedy created by brilliant writer Brian Fuller (Now finally being recognized for his work with the lovable and quirky Pushing Daisies), is getting resurrected (pun totally intended.) Apparently, a movie is filming according to IMDB sources. A few upsetting things. Rube's character is being replaced by...DESMOND, from Lost. Weird. Also...Daisy's actress is recast, probably because they waited just a bit too long and someone snatched Laura Harris away (Women's Murder Club). Though if the show itself is brought back I'll be all for that show to get canceled for us to have Daisy, Daisy Adair back. I am just over the moon! For those skeptical and having that newfangled annoying connection tool, Ellen Muth has posted pictures from the set. This is a reality folks.

Sources close to production report that DLMO, and it's fan base, is responsible for bringing this show back to liife! For those of you who didn't dig frantically for information like I did, Dead Like Me wasn't canceled on Showtime due to a lack of viewer interest, fan interest, or cast conflict. Rather, the president of Showtime specifically wanted to take the show in a different direction than Dead Like Me. So, in an "era" so to speak where 10 million viewers can keep a show on network TV, fan voice is having more and more impact on what happens in Hollywood. I'm liking this :)

Posts: 2302 (10/22/07 8:45 AM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Gotta go read up on this since its the first I've heard of a DVD movie, but first reactions: I can live without Laura Harris, just like I lived when Rebecca G.H. left after killing someone -- but no Rube is just heresy. And hell no to "Desmond" stepping in for post-it distribution! They left so many unanswered questions... Rube getting despondent about his previous life; Georgia on the brink of being found out; her connection to those demonic pranksters... So in a way I'd be happy to see more, but only if it is done well. It'll be nice to revisit with Joy, Mason, etc.

Kind of sad that Rube is not in it, but it's suppose to take place I think 2 years after the S2 finale?

I think in S2 they hinted at that, and I wish they would address it in the movie.

I don't care about Laura Harris, because personally I thought her acting was DISMAL. Almost as bad as whoever that slunt was who played George's mother. But RUBE? He was the best thing about the show for me. Period. I don't know about this.

I loved Patinkin and Harris in the roles, even though it's come to light that Patinkin is a douche and very difficult to work with. I'd personally love for the whole series to be resurrected; canceled WAY before it's prime.

Mason and Roxie were my favorite characters followed by Reggie and then the dog. Rube's "character" was good and probably could be pulled off by anybody, IMO. Desmond is eye candy so yay!!

Just ordered S2 from Amazon. Can't wait to watch it. New movie?? Awesome. I can live without Rube as I'm not a fan of Mandy and I'll miss Daisy but as long as my Mason is back <3 I'll be happy. Oh and Roxy is a MUST as well. Love her ripping the soul out of the asshole who then thought she was God. Took me a few eps to really get into it but the ep where Rebecca GH leaves was a huge turning point IMO. That's when the show really got its footing and took off. I was genuinely sad/happy for her character. The only one I didn't love was the recap ep towards the end of the season. Mason and the old woman whom he buries in her back yard <3
