What an amazing show and amazing finale. It took me a second to think about what I was seeing at the end and then I was like "The Twin Towers?!"
Like someone said above, I only realized like 2 seconds before what the grave was going to say and my mouth dropped. Great stuff! Cannot wait until next season! |

Wasn't anybody pissed?

I did love the twin towers, the gravestone reveal etc but I was pissed at the super slim 3 lines Nimoy had.I expected/wanted way more....

Go to Hulu or the Fox website and watch them all. A couple of months ago I realized this show was getting better but had missed episodes. I went to one of
the online sites and have an all day marathon catching up. It was great. I might do it again. There is nothing like playing them back to back to see things
you didn't the first time around (and the hindsight helps).
I like the idea of Nimoy playing William Bell, however, I found his smile and his general "acting" to be too selfconscious. It seemed to me that he was playing up his celebrity SF casting and not the part. John Noble plays his part so much better, losing himself in the character. Nimoy? No. So far he was only playing himself. His appearance was played like one of his Priceline commercials. Love the reveal about Peter rev. 1. So, did he die of the fever in childhood? Is that why Walter stayed behind and Bell went across? What happened to the Walter of world 2? I so loved the Towers still being there! What more iconic representation could there have been to so succinctly differentiate the 2 worlds (at least in a US perspective). A geographical quibble I couldn't get past. Grafton is landlocked in the middle of Massachusetts. It is by no stretch of any imagination by anyone who has read a map, near the ocean. Doesn't anybody in production own a map of Massachusetts? There is a coastline, there are many towns which would have been randomly chosen. |

The Leonard Nimoy reveal was straight out of some 1960s melodrama. Please, Abrams, most of us already knew you were getting Spock to play William Bell. The
Twin Towers twist was interesting but presented in a very ridiculous way. "Hi, I'm William Bell." Olivia, without reaction, turns around and
looks out the window.

^ True, that was a ham handed end. She didn't need to look out the window. The camera POV could have just come out the window and kept going to reveal
the towers.
Despite the corny heavy handed gimmicks, despite Nimoy's inability to play anything other than himself and Spock I will be back next season. I have preordered season 1 DVD. The deeper storylines are really good. I hope they don't fuck them up in the resolutions. |

Marvel Comics fan writing Fringe?

I remember The Watcher from Marvel Comics and specifically the Fantastic Four comic book. The Watcher was a bald guy who would observe Earth and alternate
realities but was not supposed to interfere in the goings on. When I was watching The Observer with Walter at the beach house and he mentioned he had said
too much it reminded me of the comics. Any other comics geeks see the parallel?
I was also blown away by the pull away at the twin towers. Although I figured out that Peter was from the other side during the conversation in the car when they were speaking about the coin and Peter not recalling anything about coin collecting. |

The Observer is definitely an allusion to The Watcher. I'm guessing the Watcher must be some organization that has learned to trespass the realities. His
appearance may be a reflection of the constant traveling between, much in the same way (although much more dramatically) as David's burned appearance.
I thought a telling moment in the episode was the really quick scene where Olivia almost has a car accident. Was that just a moment where Olivia was 'between realities' so she didn't see the car coming through? |

They seem to be implying that Olivia, at least up to now, is unconsciously shunting between dimensions. I wonder if it's going to become more under her
control as the story goes on.

for sure Peter is from Alt. World. This must be why Peter says Walter was always doing "experiments" on him. Probably testing to make sure that he
wasn't sick as well. Sad for young Peter. I wonder if we will ever meet Alt World Olivia or better yet - Alt World John Scott ;)

When did Fringe turn into Sliders?

^^ Don't know but since I couldn't get past a couple of Sliders episodes, don't care. Most plots are retreads of things done in other places.
It's how well they retread that counts. This show started slow and still has some weak points, but overall it seems to have gotten better, at least imo.
